HBO had Mike at his very best athletic ability but showtime cashed in on him better. Jim Gray loves Mike, understands how it was all able to unravel the way it it did, understands how truly great Mike was as an athlete but how the leeches and homies got to him and helped destroy him yet he still saw the good in Mike beyond the turmoil and crazy rants and for them to be great friends today is a testament to the kind of human fabric both men are made of. Jim always told Mike the truth and Mike as a nearly 60 year old has for once in his life someone that would tell him straight but still love him unconditionally, that is friendship.❤

I'm so glad I grew up in this awesome era of boxing in the 90s. Watching Tyson as a kid was one of my highlights he was box office and exciting. Youngsters watch the heavyweight division today don't realise how awful it really is.
@SJ-ty5rw9 ай бұрын
It's not even close .. 100% agree . Their is no real truly great exciting heavyweight boxers , like their were in the 90's . And not the same atmosphere to the fights , when the talent left boxing the UFC took over and is the only reason they are the main fighting attraction today .

Jim Gray always annoyed me as a post-fight guy. He was douchey. I'm a Larry Merchant guy. But I'll give it to him. He seemed genuinely moved and the respect is mutual from both men. I grew up with Tyson. He was my Ali and I cried when he lost to Buster Douglas. I agree with Mike when he said if you'd know him 30 years ago, you woulda never thought he'd make it this far. I remember several times thinking he was gonna off himself, but I'm glad he didn't. I'm glad he discovered the toad and it mellowed and enlightened him. Thanks for all the memories, Iron Mike.

Years ago I meet Mike Tyson in a club in LA. I asked him to take a pic and he said you can take as many pics as you want but first I staying with us. You partying with me tonight. I was 20 years old. He had 4 beautiful ladies with him but one of them was the best of the best looking girl. He seen me staring at her and talking with her a lot of the night and he asked me, “would you like her to stay with you the nite”? Long story short the next morning I woke up with her in my hotel room but I never got the picture. A few years later I was watching I video of Mike Tyson and it showed us that nite at the club. There is nothing Mike would not give you if you was in his circle and partying with him Mike Tyson the peoples champ 🥊

my Oldman was born in 1949 and spoke highly of many boxers including mike. Oldman's younger brother was a champ from our village back then and had recorded tapes of many fights that I'll go watch instead of playing outside with the cousins whenever we visited. but that year in 96 when Tyson and Evander fought, the whole week the Oldman just kept talking about this Evander and kept saying the real deal before I knew what it meant. went with him to the T.A.B when i was 7 to watch the fight and realized what he was talking about. thanks for the memories Showtime.
