32:38 I would possibly agree....if the movie didn't also include Chris Hemsworth's character being portrayed as painfully stupid, and having all the women in the show stare, gawk and leer at him, something that not only didn't happen in the Original Movie with Jeanie or even Dana when she was in that orange robe thing, but would've been vilified as Sexist if it was done in reverse. Even if you don't call that Woke it is still a clear double standard.

@@LDrosophila That was basically flirting back in the 80s. Also Dana was smart enough to know when Peter was being creepy and Peter knew when to back off. The girls in 2016 are more balatant about it and taking advantage of the fact Chris's character is an idiot. Thus they are far more scummy.

Youre utterly clueless. 84 is a standalone classic. 89 is a remake beat by beat. Afterlife is a GB themed film…a totally different kind of film for the franchise. Frozen empire is the gb sequel we wanted in 89 but didnt. Theres no recapturing 84 but also, i dont expect fucking shawshank when sitting down for frozen empire. Movies great and falls in line with GB. Get over it you stiffs.

I’m thinking if they want to do a Ghostbusters 6 aka a sequel to the Frozen Empire, they should just make it like a finale to the series if they wanted to do a another attempt at a Reboot. Ghostbusters 2016 isn’t that bad I mean there’s a couple things I liked about it. I found Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones to be more funny and likeable compared to Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy. I did like the idea of using the the ghost from the ghostbusters logo and the animated scene with the ghost, but problem, Rowan was neither interesting, relatable, funny, or anything really, just a cool concept but with no depth. I also think the writing is awful though, it makes the movie more choppy with its scenes, fast pace, and less interesting, character development isn’t that good as well, accept for Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon because I actually found them to be funny. Honestly it’s either they do a Reboot with an entire different story, set in a different universe, and better writing & directing. Or just do an entirely new IP franchise that’s a Horror/Comedy about Catching Ghost.

And even in the more comical Ghostbusters running away from the library ghost with the whimsical music, the ghost itself is still scary! It’s making a funny face or doing something absurd, it’s a frightening image. And that helps ground it. Ghostbusters 2016 could have committed to a joke a second, multiple jokes going on at the same time like a Naked Gun movie, but that takes a sharper script without relying on 90% improv.

Truth be told I did have a fair bit of appreciation for Afterlife. I wouldn't say it meets the quality of the original two movies, but it felt like the people working on the movie had genuine passion for the franchise. I like how it took its time establishing the new cast and it being the child and grandchildren of Egon coming to terms on his demise and growing into the next generation didn't feel cheap. The one thing that did feel cheap was going back to Gozar and the Dogs for the finale, even if it was for a reunion with Ray, Venkman, and Winston (and Ray as CGI, though at least they didn't go so far as to make him speak). I still need to give Frozen Empire a shot, cause from what Afterlife provided it feels like they can develop a decent successor of characters, but we'll have to wait and see. The audience reception was quite good, I mean 85% while the critics went to 45% means there's yet another divide. Currently Afterlife is sitting at 94% with the audience to a 63% with Critics, so there is a consistent decline in reception which could be the nostalgia wearing off or the movie was a genuine downgrade.

One of the problems, of the many problems, is that the lore has no rules. In the original there's a specific way the technology works and how ghosts work, at least vaguely. This movie didn't make any attempt to explain how ghosts work and what the gadgets do, and there's no consistency. Sometimes they can catch them, sometimes they can punch them, there's no rules to stick to and it takes me completely out of caring for the movie.

I know this has been said a thousand times already-but, here it is again. They really should have capitalized on Venkman's throwaway line, "The franchise rights alone will make us rich beyond our wildest dreams." That opens the door for older, fatter Ghostbusters to manage fledging Ghostbusting outfits operating under their name. Get Jack Black and a bunch of other funny guys to be ghost busting screwups and never put any of the guys in their old uniforms. OR, just let it die because they couldn't recreate the magic in the sequel with the exact same cast.

If you think chloe is the worst character , then you'll probably be disappointed in whatever they come up with after frozen empire. From what I've read, the writer is planning on writing the third one to focus even more on chloe as she finds her place as a Ghostbuster. The main issue with these new Ghostbusters movies is that they focus more on the characters/actors and nostalgia rather than focusing on the storyline of Ghostbusting. Thats why the first ones were so good: they had great characters, but the story focused on Ghostbusting and put character arcs second.
