This man is a catalog of lessons learned. Jay Johnson is definitely unsung. There are a few 5th Group guys who are directly responsible for modern, useful combat vehicle platforms. They thought the CNC plasma cutter was expensive. These guys revolutionized modern combat mobility in a motor pool...
@TacticalRifleman

Amen to that. Everyone knows that the SAS ruled the desert in WW2, with their Desert Rats. However, fast forward to 2002, and I remember SAS teams coming to Campbell to talk to Jay and the other mobility team guys. While I was learning HR and direct action, they were mastering desert mobility. Truly great Americans.

@@TacticalRifleman Truly Quiet Professionals. You don't hear these guys names because they could give a shit about fame. Every soldier on the battlefield owes these men. They poured over data from vehicle strikes, ambushes and anything else that got in the way of the boys doing their job and CAME UP WITH FIXES. FIXES that were being fielded real time while being developed. A truly combined effort. It's good to see that effort parlayed into a job that keeps them in the fight and fed...

While I also have never heard that... @@johnstock3282 I left out a comma. my bad. The seals in question pulled off the doors of their "armored" hummer cause the ac didnt work for shit. They got hozed. Guys in the Machine Gun world know the name Ramo. They pioneered taking parts kits and remanufacturing them way back in the 70's. M2 50's,1919's just to name a few. The owners Pony and Kay Maples. Members of that family started this company after Ramo was sold. Military Systems group is located in Nashville Tn. They can do some amazing Things. Many of the old Ramo employees most well into there 70s and 80s were true crafts men when it came to building guns. I am proud to know a few of them. The people behind the sceens of any company hardly ever get the credit they deserve. That company knows what matters and gets the best to do it.
