I tried the Asian squat just now. Never having done it before. However, I found it easy. Probably because I am always renovating, and I often work in my carport without a bench, squatting, or sitting on something very low, like an 8 inch high step stool. Coincidently I discovered the dead hang about 5 years ago, and it solved 40 years of lower and mid back pain from a car accident in my 20's. I subscribed to your channel for the positive affirmation. Since I'm retiredI do run/ walk 6 to 8 kilometers a day. I weight train twice weekly. My Vo2 max is mid 40's ( clinically tested yearly). Resting heart rate 49 to 54 over 4 years (apple watch). Nobody cares to hear this, but, I'm 67, and often told I look 50. I feel 30. It helps to be an introvert I find. Thank-you for your channel. Let me know if I can help in anyway.

That said, please allow me the space to eschew humility, I can do this squat now at age (just turned 😭 46)- but when I was in my mid-20s and beginning yoga, this and many other movements were a painful pipe dream. Even after a decade of being dedicated to yoga I was still in a lot of pain and moving all wrong. But once I got some hands on instruction and actually took a training course, I leaned to stretch and move properly. All my injuries have healed and I’m in very good condition, it’s easy for me to maintain the squat and it feels really good. So young folks don’t lose hope, and don’t believe that the 40s must be a decade of pain in the body. I feel better than 20s/30s. But energy dip is a real thing, you must take measures to ensure good sleep and there are other losses in terms of resiliency. Getting older is an art form, I tell you!

You mention a dead hang. I have done this for years, if the loading dock is designed right for it. I would grab the top of my truck while the dock plate is dropping. I would hang until the plate hit the floor of the truck then I would drop 2 or 3 feet. It always felt good and stretched out the spine. I also do something similar in the house I will grab the trim above a door way and squat down stretching out the spine and arms.

I am from India and squats have been incorporated into our lifestyle since millenia Like you outlined at 4.09 on your video, it is very beneficial to start your day with squatting to poop and our ancestors used that squat position. In schools kids will be made to hold their ears and squat as a mode of punishment. When visiting temples a squat gesture is performed in front of some dieties, many of the kids games involve squatting. However, unfortunately, with many millenials adopting to more comfortable lifestyles have gradually eliminated squats from their routine and will be forced to comeback to squatting when they reach their 50's/ 60's and 70's

Great modulated advice here. The host looks admirably slim and light in weight, or at least light-footed. Being overweight is a factor which may present not just more inconvenience (the sheer bulk) but also perhaps undue strain on the joints. Most Americans now, and increasingly other modern societies, are grossly overweight, what we would have called fat in the old days, and a large proportion of those are classified as medically obese, even among youngsters. These will probably need to spend longer training themselves to cope with the extra load on joints and caution with the squishing of abdominal organs against the thighs.

Thanks for the video and for running the channel. A famous Russian evolutionary anthropologist and popularizer of science, Stanislav Drobyshevsky has mentioned in one of his lectures that there is a complex of anatomical changes associated with habitual squatting, so it's used to identify lifestyles and professions of our fossilized kinsmen. I got the impression it does cause some health issues but maybe he was referring to serious overuse, such as in primitive potters.

We don’t have to do Asian squat in exercise , we can do it while weeding ( 1-2 hours ) . I am 76 years old , 2 months more will get 77 years old . 2 years ago , I squatted to weed 1.30-2 hours non stop in a reserve lot to grow flower plants , 5 days per week . This year I only weed 3 days per week . Since 2007; I began make prostrate bow before Buddha altar ( 21 bows per time in every morning ) . in each bow , I have to squat and the result of the bowing is my triceps at my lower legs are very strong and bigger . Thank to the big triceps , I have slipped many times and is able to recover ( avoid falling ) . adding to the Bowing , I squat to weed .
