The often unseen/undiscussed side of utilizing stoicism while still fresh from a personal tragedy, is that we either may not know or try to deny that we are genuinely suffering inside, and we try to mask them with trying to completely shut down our emotions to prevent them from being visible to everyone. But because the state of our suffering is still so intense, as we haven't found all the necessary answers we're looking for, we tend to unknowingly leak, radiate & emanate a constant stream of negative energy, demeanor & attitude, and this can negatively affect the people around us for the worse.

I suggest that you look deeper into Stoicism. What you are speaking about is not Stoicism. It doesn't tell you to be an emotionless robot. It just asks you to avoid any kind of excitement (good or bad) which may influence your thinking.

what you described was not being stoic my guy, it was displaying apathy. I know you do not reply to comments but I'd like to know why did you malign stoicism with being apathetic. Being stoic is a great way to deal with the tragedies of the world

I won't lie, a part of me has definitely felt it being cool to be "detached" or "cold and calculating", more so to present the illusion of being mysterious and thus have others seek me out, rather than the other way round, especially women.

A better title would be: How emotional immaturity can ruin your life. I understand that stoicism can be misunderstood as a philosophy that promotes the neglect of your own emotions and among other things. Once you understand it is not about neglecting or indifference but rather embracing and from a place of being more sympathetic, Stoicism can be understood through a different perspective and actually makes way more sense when viewed from a mature standpoint/understanding instead of from a immature perspective. It is not stoicism which is faulty, it lies with the misconception of the interpreter. Stoicism at its core was never about being immature, but rather about the philosophy of how to me as mature as possible, and to put this in perspective here is an example: it was not about disowning/being a controlfreak on your emotions but rather more about embracing them and feeling them while remaining centered (so its more about staying calm in a mids of a storm in this context). Anyhow, regardless of the title and the thumbnail, I think he makes some pretty good points (if you can see beyond the title and thumbnail) and puts some highlights on the difference between a immature person and a more mature person

As always great insights...... i have now a clear distinction of what true stoicism is and being a apathetic. ...i think what you whosomely described is apathy not stoicism. Being stoic is not about being an emotionless robot of somesort , but adopting selfawarness , acceptance and not attempting to hide ones emotions but knowing when and how to propaly express them(just as you said in the last parts of the video) ... cheers mate

Sorry I just rewatched it and realized you did lose people. I don’t know anyone who died from that or was even financially effected. That does change things. A lot. I’m sorry for mocking it. This proves that stoicism is a highly individual pursuit. Hope your life is better now.

Those who speak about me, those who read my mind, those who make content about me should suffer the nightmares that goes through my head. That way they can learn to mind their own business and leave mine alone.

Stoicism is not showing no emotion, having no fun and especially not being connectec with other people.
