It's crazy how calm Dustin stays in huge stress potential moments. A true fighter
@J1283-s1k2 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I said during fight 3: Poirier going from fight 1: 'I've never disliked somebody that much that I've ever fought' while McGregor was 'Business is never personal, it can be ruthless, it can be cruel, but it is never personal'. Fast forward to fight 3 and Poirier is 'Nah, straight business' post McGregor knockout while McGregor's embarrassing himself with 'Ya woife, is ya hoosband'. It was so telling of both men's trajectories.
@KM-iv9xy Жыл бұрын
I didn't watch the whole thing yet so I don't know if this gets touched upon in the video, but for fight 1 vs Conor, Dustin was terrified of him too. Much harder to scare a man who is truly stoic. And healthy fear of your opponent is a good thing because it will prevent you from becoming too cocky, but too much fear and you've already lost before you even enter the cage

@@KM-iv9xy I think it was less fear and more of Dustin getting himself worked up over Conor's words. When he got hit he tried to cover but left an opening for Conor to loop his left around Dustin's guard. Dustin said in the second fight when he tasted the power again he realized he could survive it if he didn't panic and stayed on task. Composure made a huge difference for him.

Stoicism helped me overcome jealousy, envy, an inferiority complex, and comparing myself to others. No matter how much I accomplished I always focused on the things I wasn't able to accomplish. The more successful I became in life the more insecure. My mind would play these tricks on me e.g., I wasn't good enough to get into engineering or medical school therefore I must be a failure. This was the constant mindset. I don't battle with that anymore I just do my absolute best now in whatever I am trying to pursue.The is the life I've been granted and this is where my bar of potential is at. I will continue to work as hard as I possibly can. So whatever my best efforts can offer I am content with that. We don't control all the variables in Iife only some of them. It is what it is. I am grateful. Very good content brother! Dustin Poirier's story is an inspiration. 💎💎💎

@@ethanguizzo9681 I seriously love that, man. I'm going to be putting it into my next video, but after my last 3 videos didn't do well, I was thinking about giving it up or taking a long break. Of the videos you mentioned, why do you think you enjoyed them the most? Most applicable to your life, most relatable, or something else? Any insight helps me focus on what I need to double down on

@@PsychologyOfTheFight first off, do not quit, obvisouly u wnat ur videos to do well, but if u quit they never will. U have had a coupel blow up especially, but there all of an extremely high quality Ur videos are affecting me and I’m sure there affecting a lot of people. Obviously we’re all mma fans here, but ur videos have messages we can all apply to our lives. For example the Israel adesanya one and dustin porrier one, made me feel like I can be who I am, and not be ashamed for being diffenret and live a life true to myself, and the Dustin porrier one is allowing me to push through rough times and treat a horrible life changing breakup into a positive thing. It’s the fact ur taking things we should and can apply to our lives, deep philosophical messages and applying to mma fighters All ur videos are excellent but those are my favourite for that reason, it also helps that there extremely well thought out and edited. If I could recommend something, (ur already doing) it be to just keep taking videos and applying an emotional context to it. The Izzy and Dustin video hit really hard… That’s my suggestion, I enjoyed those the most. Again man, ur content is excellent, I’ll sing to the high heavens about if i must I’ve shared all ur videos with multiple people. And they all say the same thing, all u can do is take my word, but I’ve watched the last couple minutes of the Dustin video and the Izzy video an uncountable amount of times, they boost me up.

💎 Fun fact, this is the emoji me and one of my mates just randomly send to eachother at like 3am out of boredom. But yeah, once Dustin made that switch mentally, to focusing only on what's within his power to control, he became so fucking good. He was scary when he was just wildly swinging, and relying on his natural abilities, but once he started calmly building his skillset, is when he became one of the real sharks of the lightweight division.
