King Cold was very cocky and very self-impressed by his own strength. King Cold was FULLY convinced that the /only/ reason Trunks defeated Freeza, was due to the sword. Remember, they can't sense Ki, so all he saw was Trunks use this sword to kill his son. So he assumed that was all it was and felt he didn't need to transform once he had it. Honestly, I think a "Final Form" version would be more than a challenge for Trunks. But when Goku lands, I think he'd be able to handle them. He was far stronger than even Trunks, and Trunks one-shotted Freeza.

I do believe that is what King Cold said to Trunks, so it does explain why he remained in his suppressed form. Which I do believe he was in his suppressed form not final. I don't remember where I read this and I'm not sure if it's canon or not, but out of their entire race only Frieza and King Cold were born with a mutation that made them incredibly powerful. If this is true then Cold was in his suppressed form, whether or not this was his 2nd or 1st form isn't so clear. We really don't know how many forms Cold would need to suppress his power, it could be less than Frieza, more than him or as much as him.

King Cold knew that the 'Super Saiyan' was powerful enough to defeat Freiza, his entire army and the ginyu force and literally couldn't have given more of a shit. He must have been more powerful then his son to be so confident knowing that his own son, with all his power, was left as less then half a corpse floating in space after arriving with an army and receiving what was believed by their clan to be the most elite backup in the form of the Ginyu force. He literally took the role of a dad fixing his kids bully problem by confronting the other kid lol. He's sheer size alone compared to Freizas also made me wonder how old Frieza even is in terms of his own race... Like did Frieza even reach his final maturing state in his species? Was he even considered an adult- because he had a feminine voice and was pretty small... King Cold is like 18foot taller then Friezas second form haha. Even when Frieza was struck full of fear just by seeing Trunks become super saiyan, King Cold didn't seemed bothered... Like just seeing a super saiyan terrified Frieza and King Cold saw this, and kept smiling. In retrospect we know King Cold did infact fear Majin Buu and Beerus, even going as far as to teach his kids to fear those beings, so King Cold obviously didn't think himself immortal or the greatest fighter in the universe- he was well aware that beings like Buu were beyond his imagination in terms of power. Knowing this we can't fully believe it was just arrogance that made him unafraid of super saiyans- he must have genuinely thought himself to be stronger then the super saiyans- and therefore stronger then his kid too considering he wasn't the least bit alarmed. We do know for a fact that King Cold is foolish though, he believed the power to be in trunks sword, he believed he could reason with Trunks too with promises of power. It's not unthinkable to think he had more power in transformations but believed he could transform when needed if necessary. He didn't know Trunks was a far more 'Deal with it now, before shit gets worse' type of guy. Toriyama loves his villains being able to transform into stronger forms, with nearly no exceptions, and characters like Trunks try to end things before hand while characters like Goku and Vegeta allow their opponent to get stronger first. This is exemplified in the case of Trunks Vs Vegeta Vs Imperfect Cell. I believe this all suggests King Cold was stronger then Frieza. Not enough to stop Goku- but probably enough to provide some challenge. Enough to probably have his power stored into another form, enough to not fear super saiyans, and enough to treat Friezas fears like small worries rathers then serious issues. Also, Frieza strikes me as the kind of guy that would eliminate his own father to gain full control over the galactic empire if he could... but he didn't...

Note that by this point Goku had a year of training with the Yardrats for one; and for Two Frieza transformations work FAR differently than Saiyan ones. The "Final Forms" are the base forms and the 1st three forms of Frieza are supressions of his base's power, and they ARE NOT multipliers! He chooses just how far to supress his power in each form, and "saves" it much like a book marker that form is then effectively that power level until he goes to a different form.

A rumor I always heard back in the day was that Cold's final form would've been right up there with Semi Perfect Cell. Whether this is true or not remains debatable. We're only making an assumption he was currently in his second form when he was killed by Trunks or Goku in the future timeline if you will, but even if he underwent another transformation I can't say it would've made him that much more difficult for an experienced ssj like Trunks or Goku to still defeat him. Cold might've been harder for them to kill and lasted longer in a fight, but yet I still say DBZ should've given the character some more potential with at least one transformation.

But since Bardock never had a need or a clue how to unlock the technique, he just died in place. Here's a way the writers can explain this nonsense they came up with. Frieza, his family, and his troops can't sense power levels. King Cold probably didn't realize his how strong Trunks or Goku was. So because of that and his arrogance, he figured since he was stronger than Frieza so he could beat Trunks without transforming. Another route they could take is to say, since Cold's family were superpowered mutants of their race who can transform, the form he was in was his final one and that his original form looked like Lord Chilled who was not shown to have another form. Frieza and Cooler were probably born looking different due to being mutants.

Chilled is non Canon. King Cold is confirmed to be a mutant. Final Form is base form for Frieza's race, as stated by Frieza. Gold is an enhancement and forms 1-3 are for power suppression. Cooler is non Canon. Assuming we do keep non Canon characters in mind, we can infer that Chilled is a mutant because he powered down, he has transformations. Same with Frost and Frieza. It's confirmed that Cooler is a mutant. That would mean, since King Cold is in his 2nd, and he's confirmed to be a mutant; he does have transformations. Keeping Games in mind, like Xenoverse, they have the non mutants only able to go Final (Base) and Golden; no 1-3 or 5th/Golden 5th. We can assume that non mutant Frost Devils can only go Base and Golden Base. Games are non canon though; like Chilled and Cooler. (I Believe Xeno2 devs said playable Frost Demons are not mutants before, not sure though)

In my opinion king cold is in his final form. I think that all of friezas race looks different and the only reason frost looks like frieza is because he's frieza from another universe. If king cold could transform frieza would've at least said something like "father transform" in a fit of desperation. I think King Cold was powerful, and he was certainly stronger than Frieza. But, I think King Cold never trained and merely ruled his organization through fear and intimidation (much like his son). I don't think King Cold spent any of his time training and getting stronger as he seemed fairly confident in the power he already possessed. If he transformed (assuming he could) it's hard to say just how much more powerful he would have become. I think the best we can do is speculate.

In the original time line where there was no time travelling, goku as he said, wouldve instant transmissioned to earth to take care of king cold and freiza. After freiza gets beaten maybe even killed as trunks did but this time without leaving a trace, goku wouldn't have waited for king cold to transform this time (That's a vegeta thing). Seeing that he knew how freiza's power skyrocketed with his transformations does anyone else here think that goku of dbz would take a chance like that? At full power: King cold > Goku > Trunks > Freiza What happened: Goku > Trunks > Freiza > King Cold

Cell tanked his light grenade so he has to be at least 600-800 million with 16 in that range too because they're equal. Semi perfect Cell's initial power was an addition so he should be at at least 1 billion if not higher.

i think toriyama's state that Frieza and Cold are mutants of their race, born with high power levels, their power corrupted them. I don't neither had ever trained because that's their superior character. But Toriyama has said that Frieza is a lot more stronger than King Cold. So who knows if after training he could have reached the level Frieza did.

But obviously being significantly stronger. In regard to what I actually think. Based on the anime. I think King Cold did have more forms based on the fact that Frosts forms seem to be the same as Frieza. So I believe it is just a part of their race that they get these specific transformations if they choose to get the transformations. Frost's forms are the same freeza's because he's litterally an alternate version of freeza. King cold does not have any other forms officially and it's likely that freeza just designed his second form after his father considering those forms were created to suppress his power.

Daizenshuu 7 states in King Cold's bio that he is "slightly behind" Frieza in terms of battle power. It was also stated by Naho Ooishi in an interview for Resurrection ‘F’ that even though the rest of Frieza's family are strong, Frieza's power has always been in a completely different league from them, and that he alone is the only one to possess this level of power. In Saikyō Jump, Akira Toriyama has stated that King Cold and Frieza are the only two of their race to have abnormal power

What I'm more confused/worried about is King cold is obviously a leader given his namesake. I don't know if he's the leader of his entire race/planet or a small nation, and freiza calling himself the emperor of the universe is something the rest of his race agrees or disagrees with˜ I'm more confused why his mother hasn't sent a freaking search party after them. King Cold dying in his 1st/2nd form is what happens when we finally have a hero who stops a villain without being arrogant and wanting to have fun or test his strength by letting the bad guy power up and transform. Trunks is the only one smart enough to realize what is at stake, Goku and Vegeta fight for sport.

I know King Cold is most likely in a second form that the entire race can reach, like Super Saiyan, but I love the idea of that being his 1st form. All of his transformations could've been like a giant Frieza. Then again, maybe that's kinda boring, just a second Frieza. Maybe that's why they didn't bother letting him transform? But there was some mention that these forms being available to the whole race is an assumption, and now with Super, I wonder. Frieza chose to be gold in the next form, maybe they can all choose and this is what King Cold chose to be final. Also it seems Gohan can be stronger than Goku if he tried. And Trunks & Goten reach Super Saiyan as children. Future Trunks even battles Zamasu & Black. It makes me wonder if parents can teach their children young so they can surpass them or if their offspring is stronger by nature. That could mean Frieza is just stronger than his father. If not at the time, then maybe eventually. I mean, definitely eventually in Super. Although I'd love to see King Cold do the same & come back a villain in Super. Imagine if he was stronger than Frieza, started training while Frieza was alive (and untrained) and never stopped. He could become a massive threat, right? I think Frieza loses the halo and Whis says that was a gift from Lord Beerus? I'm not sure, but maybe enough good things will happen that he changes. Maybe no longer a villain in a very distant future. Maybe Frieza would be perfect as the next Destroyer of the 7th. He's already on a similar level to Goku & Vegeta, but without Whis' training. He loves destruction & can do it whenever, but for better reasons than being pretty racist against Saiyans.. Plus, that golden form could be permanent later on, or an even shinier one, that would probably look great in the Destroyer outfit. I assume the mention of ''Destroyers are chosen to replace the old Destroyer'' is a Checkov's Gun thing to set up Beerus' replacement. I really feel they should have made a mini ark of King Cold going to earth for revenge. Instead of Frieza surviving namek he should have died. They could have made him a badass that knows how to sense/hide his Ki. A strong final form King Cold vs Goku and Trunks would have been interesting. I think you guys are underestimating Cold a bit and here is my reason: Frieza's personality. If Frieza had seen his father as weaker than him, as power hungry and as cruel and as traitorous as Frieza is, he would have killed his father to take the kingship. I would personally put King Cold as probably just under the Andriods maybe even at the Andriods level (Andriods 19 and 20). Another reason is that those Andriods (Andriods 17 and 18) were weaker than the main time line's version, most likely at the same level as 19 and 20.

My personal headcanon has always been that the Manga and Anime are alternate universes of each other basically. Cause ages, powers, battles, etc. are different in some cases. Almost drastically even. Manga and anime wise, I feel King Cold would've stood no chance whatsoever. Cause think of it like this. If Trunks had failed, Goku would've teleported to Earth anyways. And we see that Goku is stronger than Trunks. Either way, the two frost demons would have failed. In manga and in anime.

For me I think it's implied that King Cold is a little bit stronger than Frieza to illustrate the point of Trunks reveal. After spending a whole saga painfully struggling to fight off Frieza, Trunks comes in and one shots Frieza and his daddy to show you how much on another level Trunks is, then Goku arrives and you see that he has become stronger too because he blocks Trunks sword attacks with a finger. Then Trunks tells about the androids and how powerful and scary they are that Trunks says he's been having his ass wooped by them for a while now. It's all to set up the new villain and show you that Frieza and his Daddy pale in comparison.

I think that since frost proves that the transformations is a part of their race, King Cold is in his second form. I believe this is because it is the form that appears to be the most menacing due to it being the largest in height. He would be in this form because he would want to show his dominance over the people of Earth. I also think that given the opportunity King Cold would have transformed, but he was too shaken after seeing his son being obliterated to da anything other than beg for his life.

This is a long post, but there are some points to take in consideration that I would like to share with the audience, so here it is my position in the topic, hope you find it useful, interesting or at least entertaining. Please, if you are not the like of people who like or don't mind reading long posts you are free to just pass by this information or just jump directly to the conclusions; however, don't be rude or express your disagreement in bad manners. Anyone is gladly invited to address their opinions, extra information and corrections in this section. In advance, thank you. Also note that DBZ has many inconsistencies, so I am going to try to make the more sense of it as much as I can, that being said, let's go: 1) If we analyzed the scene of Frieza and King Cold arrival until their defeat carefully, we can realize that King Cold got cocky trying to face SSJ Trunks, then this mortally wounded Cold, piercing his body from side to side with a Ki blast, made him unable to even move properly, not even talk about being unable to focus the correct amount of energy in order to transform. In the case of Frieza in Namek, when he met Goku (who was the most appropriate to face him) he was already in his final form and was already by far stronger than Goku until this reached the SSJ form. That means before that point Frieza was never mortally wounded (he got his tail cut off at much) neither was the possibility to leave him in such damaged state, such as King Cold's, allowing him to freely transform, and go on doing so. Even if King Cold was able to focus his power and transform, we all know the amount of charging time, effort and stress it is required to go into a new form (even Frieza after his resurrection and training took a considerable moment to get into his final and golden form, even with perfect health), so like hell Trunks would allow Cold to do that, so there's no way Cold would be able to ascend in power and forms. In fact, Cold tried to negotiate for his life with Trunks, offering planets, wealth, power in his army and such; maybe, even he was aware about his situation that there was no chance of scape or even transform, and the only hope was persuading Trunks to spare his life. 2) About Goku defeating Frieza and Cold in the Future Line. It is well known that Goku likes to go slow on his adversaries in order to make the fight to last longer and enjoy the most of it. However, that would not be the case with Frieza, since it is also known that Frieza is the only villain in the whole DB-verse that Goku truly hates. The following is out of canon, I know, but I think that it is worth to notice since it provides some insights about the relation between Goku and Frieza. So it is that even in games when you choose to fight Goku vs. Frieza, they are the only two characters (or among the few) that develop dialogues of hatred between each other, Frieza is the only character that Goku cries his name furiously while fighting like "Frieeezaaaa!!" and such. Others than him, he only use phrases like "You're really thug", onomatopoeias of effort and struggle, or other phrases addressing how strong the opponent is. Now, canonically speaking, Frieza was the only villain who has been able to trigger Goku's true anger, and thus making him able to unlock the SSJ form, when it comes to any other, like Piccolo, Raditz, Vegeta, Cell or Buu, he always ended his last move with a smile or respect, some of them even become his friends, but Frieza is the only exception. 3) Putting that aside, Frieza and Cold arrived way before (hours) Goku, so given the fact that in the Future line Trunks was not there yet, not even born, by the time Goku arrived enough time should have passed in order to Frieza and Cold to have the chance to make a lot of destruction and kill a lot of people on Earth. In fact, if there wasn't by Trunks who came to the main line present, Frieza would have destroy a whole city by the moment he just step out his space ship, and again, it was the 1st thing he did when he just arrived to Earth in Fukkatsu no F. And what about the Z fighters? We know they were killed by the Androids after Goku died by heart illness, not by Frieza and Cold. Well, they could hold for themselves for a while until Goku arrives, after all, you all know how Frieza likes to play with his victims and make them suffer, in this case, the delight to witness Goku's face once he has arrived and seen the state in which Frieza left his son and friends (again In Fukkastsu no F he was pretty much doing this very thing, and he also did before his 1st meeting with Goku in Namek). Or… they actually died (or some of them) during the fight against Frieza and Cold, and then were resurrected (again) with the Earth's DBs if Goku came in time before Piccolo dies or the Namekians DBs if Goku came too late, after all, Androids came to apparition 3 years before the Frieza and Goku's arrival, and many years has passed since the last use of both type of DBs, so any of them would be perfectly available. In any case, Frieza and Cold would have made already enough damage to drive Goku mad, defeat Frieza in his final mecha improved form, and King Cold in his 2nd form (maaaaaybe 3rd) without giving him a chance to ascend even further. So given the info provided in point "2" and adding these in point "3", there's no way Goku would go "easy or slow" on them. 4) It was said Cold was even stronger than Cooler in his ultimate (extra) form. 5) According to the following chart, which in my opinion is better than the Wiki ( i1089.photobucket.com/albums/i358/actek14/LargerVersionJumpbattlepowerlevel.jpg~original ) we can appreciate some interesting information. At the end of the Frieza saga Goku's PLv. in SSJ1 was 150M, while Frieza was 120M, ok, until then there is no surprise for anyone. But Frieza 2nd form is 1.2M, so this means that from his 2nd form to his final at max power Frieza had a multiplier jump of x100. Assuming this boost is proportional to all beings in Frieza´s race and considering as legit that King Cold was in his 2nd form, as stated in the same chart, King Cold's PLv. in 2nd form is 90M. Ok, not that strong has Frieza in his final form but by far stronger than his 2nd form and even stronger than any of the present Z fighters in that moment, but still, perfectly defeatable with no sweat by Super Saiyan warriors with PLv. beyond the 120M (Goku/Trunks). So once again, until here all makes sense when translated to numbers. But what if King Cold is able to reach a final form just like Frieza becoming 100 times stronger? Once again, assuming the boost is the same in all Frieza's race individuals, then Cold will have a PLv. of 9000M, which according to the same chart, is more than twice the PLv. of Super Perfect Cell which is of 4000M. 6) Now, How do I know it is Super Perfect and not Perfect Cell you may ask? Easy, by looking at the PLv. of SSJ1 Gohan which is 2500M. As you all know SSJ1 form multiplies x50 the base of the user, while SSJ2 multiplies x100 the base and x2 the SSJ1 form. However, as the one in the video said, it is indeed a character with great potential who was ultimately wasted by Toriyama/Toei himself/itself. The fact that he was unable to transform or to exploit his true powers was only a plot armor/device to continue with the next saga without having to incur into another one or “mini-one”. As most of you may know, Toriyama wanted to end DBZ with Frieza, but given the insistency of the fans Toei convinced him to continue the series, so the gap between the events of Namek and the apparition of the Androids was just a rushing in order to close the threat of Frieza and his family once and for all. Even Cooler was supposed to have his own whole canonical saga according to Toriyama’s desires, but Toei decided to put him into a movie, and after the persuasion of many editors and advisors Toriyama agreed.

@Gabriel Pereira I would say almost everything you said is sound, but when was it stated that King Cold is stronger than Cooler? Also, it still seems like we are assuming King Cold is not already in his final form. If he actually has been confirmed to be stronger than Cooler though, he should have at least one transformation. If he has even one though, then he should have another transformation, which would definitely place him way above both Frieza and Cooler and even above Super Perfect Cell as you said. I am just not sure that we can say for sure he has any form beyond what we can see in the canon though.

4:06 I think Vegeta was talking about Trunks... 5:33 I mean, Goku's stronger than trunks though. This was shown after Goku landed on Earth and trunks wanted to test his skills against him. He later states "Wow, the legends were true". So the fact Goku could do the same doesn't really give us any new info.

I always just thought king cold was at his most powerful but for some reason he looked like friezas second form. It doesn't make sense that if all friezas race has the same order of transformations that king cold would attempt to fight trunks while still having two more far superior transformations.

You have to remember that transformations are optional. King Cold is far more composed in this form than Frieza was. Meaning he loved this form and dedicated his life to it. Just like a saiyan can get stronger after the brink of death a saiyan who can't transform could beat a super saiyan if the zen kai boost through out many battles is stronger than ones transformation.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure King Cold was in his strongest form. It wouldn’t make sense for him to not attempt to transform if he could. Keep in mind that Freeza is a mutant, so his true form may not look like his daddy’s. Likely he created his “second” form (or third if we go by the order he created them) as an homage to his father. Frost is like Freeza’s AU counterpart, which is probably why he’s so similar.

Another thing I should note on why fans think King Cold is so strong. He was assumed to be around Frieza's general strength level when he appeared, but we clearly see he is in a second form like Frieza was with that same power level. He, like Frost and Frieza would have two additional forms after his tall appearance here which roughly would boost him much higher to either Android 16 or second form Cell.

This power level thing... they really messed up in the anime. If I remember correctly, in the manga, Frieza tells Nail that his power level is of 530 000, and that's the end of it, when the anime has Frieza saying that his second form has a power level of 1 million. It would have made more sense to have Frieza's full power level to be at 530k, with Goku going from 180k facing Ginyu, and his zenkai boost allowing him to resist for a little while against Frieza's final form before going super saiyan. But yeah... either that, or power levels are bullsh*t!
