ill pose a question i havent seen anywhere else. Since Sukuna used black flash on maki and this helps you understand the shape of your soul, did Sukuna unintentionally pulled one over himself? Maybe the flash also helps megumi understand his soul, since it was his body that executed it and we know the soul and body are still one. So my theory is that Megumi will find the will to live because of the understanding of his soul, promted by Sukuna. Will love to hear your opinion on my theory

One thing I think is possible is that since Kusakabe was the main teacher to Yuji during that time skip I think that is foreshadowing something. I think it is possible that people who train long enough in Yuji’s body or share a body with him, the more they can understand their own soul, thereby getting stronger. If Kusakabe was in Yuji’s body the most he may be able to use the Soul Split katana with its cursed technique since he might be able to see the soul. And let’s be honest, if anyone is gonna learn the soul besides Yuji, it’s Kusakabe.

Plus, I’ve always been confused about why people didn’t care about the Maximum Uzumaki deflection feat. I don’t think any sorcerer in the 1st Grade tiers besides maybe Yuji could survive it, let alone tank it. The only thing that Kusakabe lacks pre Timeskip when compared to the Three Clan Grade Ones is that they are so efficient in their cursed technique that I don’t think Kusakabe would be able to keep up fully. For example, if pre-Timeskip Kusakabe fought Naobito he would probably lose. And although I think skill wise and reinforcement wise Kusakabe takes it, Naobito’s tech put him farther than Kusakabe.

I think the next chapter will go as follows: 1. Sukuna dogging Kusakabe for being weak/the only one left. 2. Kusakabe doing his ultimate cursed technique which causes mild/moderate damage to Sukuna, surprising Sukuna and/or himself. 3. Sukuna shrugging off the injury and hitting Kusakabe with a Cleave/Dismantle, causing severe injury/death. 4. Yuji arriving at the last panel fully healed to challenge Sukuna once more (and to prevent Kusakabe from being dealt the final blow, if not already killed by Sukuna).

@@Timetiger Yeah, it was fun for the first 87 or so installments of Shinjuku Showdown, but now Sukuna Kaisen is just repetitive and demoralizing (“hey, did you know that Sukuna was the strongest sorcerer?! Did ya?!”). Like any time there’s any kind of stakes raised for the tides to turn (Higuruma, Yuta, Maki), it’s immediately and unequivocally shut down within the next two chapters, so it’s like ohh…OK, so I guess the manga is them just taking a whoopin, then?

Its the equivalent of "Oh impressive! You caught my first meteor. What will you do about the second?" Or "Should all of my clones use a full body susanoo or nah?". The power cliffing is too much for me to believe the good guys have any shot at getting a W here. Maybe if Sukuna was this strong but also not a genius when it comes to strategy, jujutsu, etc. Maybe it's just me but if Sukuna only loses because he was playing around too much im gonna be disappointed. He has a super cool design. I just need him to be more than what he currently is. @@Timetiger I agree. Sukuna spanked everyone without even really trying, as verbalized by his bottom gimp, Uraume, we got it. I feel like at least in the Shibuya Incident when Sukuna smoked everyone for a large, consecutive part of the manga, Gege was able to (i) simultaneously show how Sukuna outclassed everyone there by miles as well as (ii) move the plot forward narratively. I feel like Gege is drawing out this clownery a little too long, and it’s just making his characters suffer gratuitously without purpose. How many more months do we have to sit through “I found my new special power, oh it’s useless, oh I’m dead” ad infinitum. and for the record I feel like people will riot if Maki is either dead or somehow handicapped permanently in the future from being the heavenly restricted queen we got to see her as, albeit briefly, due to that stupid, rabbit-out-the-ass-for-the-twelfth-time black flash. Without Maki, the number of female characters remaining who aren’t dead, complete trash at jujutsu, or morally bankrupt, is…-checks notes- zero.

I get how Yuji could be off guard, but you're telling me Yuta was sitting there watching Sukuna, able to turn his sure-hit back on (if he did in fact turn it off. Not convinced that explanation was ever actually made clear in the chapter yet), but able to turn his sure-hit back on with a literal thought and yet he was somehow caught off-guard by Sukuna using the world cutter AGAIN lol and even having to say 3 chants before being able to fire it off. I get how Yuji was surprised, but Yuta being just as surprised is crazy when that dude was on a 120% amp inside his own domain lol. Agreed 1000% about Maki though. Even if she is alive, she did not have a good showing and that's a shame. I expected more from all of them tbh. They have done nothing to slow Sukuna down. I mean, I know we are told that he got stabbed through the heart by Maki and how that's troublesome, and how he was trying not to be hit by Jacob's Ladder throughout the Yuta fight, but ultimately neither of those things even slowed him down, so you can't really say they did anything to him worthwhile at this point. They were just a waste of everyone's time since he would be no slower or weaker if they had just never happened.

Kusakabe has the potential to go out as a fantastic character here. as someone who was always at least adept enough to keep up but superficially never in it with his heart or downright too scared to care, potentially putting down his life to create a chance for Yuji to deal a final blow would be excellent character development. Showing there's more to people than they show, people's potential for change and the overall value of giving your all for a good cause.

It’s really interesting that fans only are able to reduce certain parts of narratives to mechanical elements ( cycle, formula) but not able to comprehend what they do on narrative, subtextual levels. Sukuna is a static character, as villains usually are. But it is by facing him, that characters get realizations about themselves, strong characterization, and fulfillments to their arc. As Sukuna said “ we respond to their strength in kind”. I wish with Jujutsu Kaisen people just stopped forcing so much whiney narratives and actually started to look deeper at what the story is about trying to do.

Also, to use the Soul Split katana (to its max potential), you need to be able to perceive not only the soul of of people, but inanimate objects. Something Toji and Maki have been stated to do. Its also implied Yuji and Sukuna can maybe do that, as they were two souls in one body, and were able to see the borders of eachother's souls. Edit: enjoyable video, tho!

I personally don’t think Kusakabe will do much throughout the entire fight except maybe block an attack or two like how he did for higuruma… maybe Kusakabe is the first to successfully block Sukunas World cutting slash but besides that, I don’t really see him taking center stage since it’s not in his character to do that Even if I’m wrong, there’s a 90% chance Yuji/Maki will appear like a few pages after Kusakabe has had his 15 panels of fame

I'm wondering 2 things; One being about the body swap thing Kusakabe and Yuji did if it will have any relevance to what's about to go down. Two being that the Game is still active, and it can awaken sorcerers, could Kusakabe unlock his CT through this awakening? Lots of theory crafting can make some cool ideas come up. I have a theory on soul cores and how Sukana is housing Megumi's soul. What could maybe be something to theory craft around, is the cursed corpse creation and how Yuji could insert his soul into Sukana to create a stable Cursed corpse through his Ideals. Crazy long shot, but it's strange we had the reveal of how to make one. But haven't seen anything about it since. But I've like Kusakabe since his introduction, kind of sad he's next on the "chopping" block.
