@lordmegatron6145 It was in a magazine. I saved the page, but I wouldn't be able to find it quickly with all the tons of stuff I have. Big Z was on top at the time, and Todd put him #1. Kaz, Anderson and Cyr finished in the top 5 (not necessarily in that order). Shaw, Hall and Thor weren't a force yet, so they didn't make the list.

Mariusz is obviously going to be stronger (because he was a professional strongman) but it would have been interesting to see what Ronnie could have accomplished in that area if he'd focused on strongman instead of bodybuilding.

@Pantelifts10 That's very true. But although Mariusz had one of the better physiques for a strongman, put him on a stage posing against Ronnie and he gets blown out of the water. They both specialized in different areas.

@@PinnaclePete now tell me what is more important being strong and fit or "looking strong in a beauty contest" ? bodybuilding is just the most unnecessary thing ever and other than being unhealthy af unrealistic (as they never look in contest shape for 95% of the time) and they have no cardiovascular endurance whatsoever what is even the point they just look strong they aren't really strong considering muscle size though if you compare them to actual strength athletes

It's not stated enough Ronnie was depleted on those legendary clips. Prepping for a bodybuilding show is ridiculous, let alone an Olympia. Ronnie likely wasn't even @ 70% doing those insane lifts. I'm sure Mariusz was dinged up on most of his WSM performances also, but Ronnie has to have way less to give in the gym trying to lean out for a show. Mariusz would still be stronger than Ronnie because of the training, but Ronnie would be very close carbed up and hydrated.

Yes absolutely; the core strength required to do military press is incredible. As you are aware most strongman overhead lifts usually require the athlete to clean the weight from the floor to the shoulders which is also massively taxing.

@@StrengthUniverse Partial reps shouldn't count as real strength. Because I guarantee Ronnie would be pushing out fewer reps if he used a full range of motion on his lifts. Mariusz is stronger than Ronnie when it comes to real overall strength using a full range of motion on all lifts.
@StrengthUniverse
@StrengthUniverse 12 күн бұрын
@@NeverTrustGovrnmentOrGlobalist Ronnies deadlift was pulled with full ROM and zero hitching. His squat was marginally short of full depth and his shoulder press was not locked out to keep tension on the shoulder rather than the tricep (as I mentioned at the start of the video, they trained for different sports). You seem to fail to account for the fact that all of Mariusz lifts are claims e.g they are not of video so cannot be accurately judged. Many people doubt his claims of a 290kg bench and we don’t no if the squat was performed raw or equipped. Also the fact that for the deadlift and shoulder press, Ronnie was only 5 weeks out from the Mr O so definitely not at full strength

I dont think any one would argue that Pudz is the strongest man in history. Yes he was one of the most dominant strongman of his time but he competet in one of weakest eras. So I feel compelled to comment on the leg press as ronnie should take an honest and easy win (thou personally don't know about straps so someone else can quantify that difference) There is a way to quantify the angle in leg press and the force on the leg with mechanics. A 35 degree leg press is 57.54% of a vertical leg press in terms of the force on the legs. While a 45 degree leg press is 70.71% of a vertical leg press. So 2300 pounds at 57.54% is 1,319 pounds vertically. Then 860 pounds at 70.71% is 608 pounds vertically. That's over a 2x advantage to ronnie.
@StrengthUniverse
@StrengthUniverse 16 күн бұрын
I guess you are referring to Knee Wraps? They can make a huge difference with a full ROM,. but as seen in the video Ronnie didn't use a full range of motion so how much difference they made is questionable. The biggest difference in the angle of the sled which you have accounted for but Range of Motion is just as important and as seen in the video, Mariusz was moving the weight twice the distance of Ronnie. Taking everything into account they are pretty close.

So now where going by “Claims” of what that person says. I believe several of these lifts were exaggerated by Marius. He never benched 639. I can almost guarantee it. Look at what Thor and Brian Shaw Max bench is, Thors around 540-560 and Brian‘s around 585 I believe. Ronnie said he could have squated 5-6 reps that day but stopped at 2. So that would give him max of 900-930 for a single. Brian Shaw in an interview and he said Marius wasn’t know as the strongest in the static lifts but excelled in the athletic events. So with all this being said, I’m pretty sure Ronnie definitely has Marius beat in the bench and squat. The dead lift is the only thing that I believe. Marius would probably beat him in. Shows how strong Coleman was that he was stronger in most static lifts than the top strongman which was Marius in that era.

No problem can do multiple reps as I’m sure any of you guys can. Then from the store , I’ll carry in each hand an 18-litre water cooler jug which are also 40 pounds a piece. Try curling them. Ach, colman war viel massiger.. Kommt keiner an. 👍 👍 ❤

Mariusz. Mr Olympia is a glorified chippendale show. Static gym lifts dont necessarily translate to WSM. Ronnies range of motion is awful too.

Give him 6-8 months training for powerlifting, and, say, 2 years or so for strongman of that era... He could make a meaningful dent in the former, and who knows in the latter.
