Seriously, a lot of people out there don't have a clue how strong Spidey really is. Even in the comic books, it's been implied he holds back A LOT. Spider-Man once swung around a tank on his webs like it was nothing, and lifted part of a train when he got pissed off. But of course, the MCU version on a whole other level. He's had his powers for like a good year by the time the Homecoming movie comes out, and he's already holding a big ass ferry together. He probably uses less than 1% of his strength on normal humans. But does anyone know how FAST he is? In the comic books, Peter says he can swing at around 200mph. Someone pointed out in a forum I once visited that Peter had cheetahs come after him, and from a seated position, was able to get up, accelerate and outrun the cheetahs. I don't know if that's true or not, but that has got to put his top running speed at clearly 100+ mph.

yeah, in the comics peter should be 10x faster than usain bolt, that should be approximately 300 mph. (since spiders move 70x their body length and move 10x faster than usain bolt). peter in the MCU is fast, since he easily catches up to falcon and seeing how fast falcons fly's is amazing. he even dodges a rocket moving at 15,000 mph and seeing how he easily dodges attacks from scarlet witch

Spiderman is not lifting each side of the Ferry. Each side may be 3000 tons, but he is not holding them up, he is just keeping them from falling away from each other. As one piece they float on the water, so even split in two, they are still mostly supported by the water. Lifting 3000 tons, and keeping 3000 tons from pivoting on their base are two entirely different things. It still requires a huge amount of strength, but not at the level you are claiming.

Just as a quick note. In that fight scene with Cap, Spider-Man wasn’t even trying to hurt anyone. He was more in awe being in there presence. Imagine what that fight would have looked like if Spider-Man were pissed. I think he’d have made short work of quite a few of those hero’s out there.

Like when you fill a bucket with water in a swimming pool and until you completely lift it of the water it feels like it weighs multiple times as much. Your point is right up to a certain point but he is still holding each side together and as the ship fills up with more water spidey needs more strength to hold it which is impressive.

I really like how they gave a lot of justice to Spidey in the MCU. The only thing I don't like is how much they Nerfed Iron man just so Captain America could even hope to go toe to toe with him... Not to mention in both the comic and MCU civil war he won by COMPLETE BS circumstances. In MCU it was a 2v1 with a damaged suit, and he managed to nearly kill Bucky regardless. In the comics vision disabled his suit so Steve was basically beating on a spam can that couldn't fight back... in all other instances of a FAIR fight we've seen Iron man CRIPPLE Steve with ease. Not even mentioning his most powerful suits.

MAJOR problems with your last example there... 1 ) He is nor supporting the entire mass of the ferry - he is only resisting the angular momentum of the two halves as they drift away from each other. 2 ) He is not supporting the mass alone - he has multiple strands of webbing, of unknown tensile strength, lashed back and forth between the halves, and he's only holding on to a few of them. They strands behind him CAN be seen in the trailer. Otherwise, nice vid!

Well, thing about Spidey's Spider-Sense is that he can actually choose to ignore it. Coupled with the fact that he was only for about 6 months at the time of Civil War, we could safely assume that Peter doesn't really know about his Spider-Sense, or at least doesn't really know the full extent of it or even understand how it works and that when it goes off he simply gets a "feeling". We already saw him get caught off guard earlier before the fight started when Ant-Man sucker punched him, he said "Hey guys, something's not rig-" *Ant-man punches him*. So with that in mind, it's likely that his spider-sense did go off but he could've choose to ignore it. Most likely because he felt over confident in his strength over Captain America's. As for him sticking to any surface (save for those that are specifically made so that it would be impossible for Spidey's to stick to), that is something that he can consciously turn on and off. Otherwise every hand shake and high five would be very awkward. Way I see it is that sure, he turn the wall-crawling on when he snagged CA's arms, but turned it off when he saw that he could easily overpower him strength-wise. But off course, he got caught off guard. So, in conclusion. Lack of experience and the fact that he may not be aware of the full extent of his abilities may have been his downfall. This is just my opinion, if you disagree then fine. I'm just throwing my two cents into this.

Ok, so I have been watching these video's and it suddenly occurred to me that based on these strength estimates there is a really high chance that MCU spider man may in fact be bullet proof. The reason I say this is due to the strength of his muscles, or more to the point the individual muscle fibers. if his muscles and bones can withstand the forces described in this video then it is likely that his muscles and bones would act easily act as an insanely strong body armor. It is more than likely that you could gut shot spidey with a high powered sniper rifle at point blank range and he would need to have the smashed bullet extracted from his abdominal muscles. However his organs would be equally tough since he regularly suffers impact or blunt force injuries from super powered individuals which means the hit is felt through his whole body. And since he does not die from a sever case of all of his organs having exploded due to impact forces and shock wave/over-pressure its safe to say that spidey could tank a hit for virtually any man portable real world weapon without much injury.

I’d like to see you do the calculations for the Santa Maria bell tower scene and possibly Cull Obsidians punch. Mainly the bell tower scene because of how he was holding up the tower, pulling it into the side of a building, and pretty much only using forearms in doing so

i didnt like that captain america almost pulled the helicopter down. with 3000 lbs of thrust (minus the weight of the helicopter) this would be impossible. given that captain america's only resistance to this force would be his own weight. and why didn't bucky go flying after hitting spiderman. that force went nowhere. spidey wouldn't be moved due to his clinging ability in his feet.

I like the explanation! Problem is that when Spider-Man stoped the car going 40mph his feet were against the bus, again when he caught the air walk way his feet were on the ground. The problem is pounds per square inch. If the car plus velocity is as you said his feet would have went through the bus. If walk way falling is as heavy as you say then his feet would have gone through the pavement, like a bullet through drywall. Plus it doesn't matter how strong cpt america is his strength wasn't a factor when pulling a the helicopter down as it was trying to take off. Then capt held a bar to hold the helicopter from taking off... held a bar, the bar didn't bend. Marvel (Disney) wants me to believe that a bar held in the middle by a had wouldn't bend. Yes yes yes I know make believe is the basis for this move but you're the one breaking it down into realistic terms. I agree I'm just adding to what you have said.

I think one of the more common misconceptions is that Spiderman does not get stronger. He ages, works out (in a sense), and would get progressively stronger over time. If he could lift 10 tons in his teens, by adulthood it would not be outside his ability to lift 20 tons. Like any normal human the more physical activity you perform the stronger you get. We also have never seen him pushed to his absolute limits. His goal is to incapacitate and not kill.

My only complaint is with the ship calculations. First, there are webs connecting the ship in the background, so you need to factor in the that, but you don't know how many webs. Second, the weight of the ship will be less because of buoyant forces. How much less also depends on information you don't have. Finally, the force to keep a leaning object upright is not the same as the downward force of gravity on the same object. This you may be able to calculate through angles and basic trig. I want to emphasize, I don't give a crap how strong a fictional character is. This is not an attack on Spider-Man. I just like science. Feel free to correct me on anything I got wrong or missed, but make sure you provide evidence please.

I'm not sure about the ship part. If spidy wasnt there the ship would probably sink slowly because it's in water. If you watch the trailer, you see that it still does but maybe a bit slower since spidy is stopping it from sinking. I don't think this calculation is correct. He's not lifting this ship above his head, that would be a lot heavier than what he does in the trailer.

0Nolan true. Also he has well over 50 webs that are attached all over the ship. I'm pretty sure if you increase the surface area of something (his webs for example) you can put more pressure, for example if he was just pulling the two parts of the ship together by his own 2 hands then he could possibly lift near that much, but the fact that he has a larger surface area pulling the ship, it is much easier and would weigh less.

No. I do not hate powerful characters. I think they should show Thor's true power in MCU so far he has only showed small dose of comic Thors vast power and that was in Jotunheim battle. Spider-Man was long at comics 10 tonner. During 60-80s he was 10 tonner. And i loved those stories. But Spidey being 40-70 tonner is just too much. For certain characters i've grown to love as specific. Fact that they every time grow Spidey's strength is for writers lack of understanding character and lack of creativity. He is most of his years been listed as 10 tonner. For Captain America i hate that they list him as "just peak human" thou he has shown superhuman feats. I always prefered Cap as superhuman. I like how they did him in MCU his personality being original Cap but powers being similar to Ultimate Cap. But Spider-Man is my all time favorite hero. I always loved how they portrayed him in 60-80s stories. especially his early years. Also i love how they portrayed him in Raimi series and currently in MCU.

I would like to offer the theory behind axle weight. A bulldozer (55kg) being hauled behind a transport truck does not distribute 55k kg on each axle, rather it is dispersed rather evenly across the load. In the scene with the ferry, Spidy has approx. nine holding points over distance of say, 40-60 feet. We also see Spidy's webs that he is not holding, thusly his webs are retaining the vast majority of the weight on their own, which is also REALLY impressive. What is truly remarkable, er, amazing, is the strength of the hand rails on that ferry.
