No one ever talks about the biggest crime of this game - that the giant sword in Bowser's castle isn't the final boss. It's the most iconic visual of the game, and its presence looms in the background your whole journey. As a kid, I always thought that WAS Smithy. It's so underwhelming to have the final boss be this random, much less intimidating monster we hadn't even seen up to that point.
