Started drinking oatly about a year ago, had just come into the packs in my supermarket, just gave it a go, and I simply prefer it now to cow milk. Mostly in my coffee. Didn't know it was such a big deal in the making.

Oatly is one of the best milks I've ever had. I even prefer it to cow milk! (I'm biased though, as I've been a barista for a decade now).

Me too! And I have no reason to be biased. I'm obsessed with coffee (like any other swede) and thought one day to try out something different, I just read the box with big "BARISTA" letters (it's not the same box as the original oatly) and thought, "oo, I guess I could try it since it's supposed to be made for coffee", so the crazy thing is that it didn't cross my mind initially that it was plant based or environmentally friendly (I'm not a vegetarian/vegan either). Tbh it took a few cups to get used to the different taste at first, but now I can't go back to regular milk, it just tastes too bland, boring and "not like coffee" compared to oat based.

Have been following Oatly for a while. My daughter is vegan and we have reduced our dairy and meat intakes on environmental grounds. I didn’t realise the back story or the company position in the market. Love your analysis. Thanks Lei. Great video.

One important part is missing: How do you get oats? Just go to the supermarket and buy them? And how do you produce a milky substance from oats and what, if any, environmental issues you might think the production of oats have on the planet? This is a very one sided view on a trend that is not going anywhere, if it were we would be able to feed millions of starving people.

_"environmental issues you might think the production of oats have on the planet?"_ The impact this have is a fart in space compared to the impact animal agriculture have. I'm sure it isn't good for the land, especially planting the same crop over and over in the same spot. Can they guarantee farmers get paid correctly as the demand for them grow? Here in NZ most milking stations are close to a milk factory. Can that be said about oat crops to an oat milk factory? There are issues that just weren't mentioned in this video, I agree. And the taste is shit compared to cows milk. They should call it something else, not milk.

@@gazzabethyname what do you think It is the cows eat? For oatmilk you need a few grams of oats per litre. That's way less, then a cows needs. Furthermore unfair prices for oat are not an issue compared to milk, which you cannot even sell on a win without subsidies

@@gazzabethyname Crop rotation is standard practice for any farmer that want consistent yields, and has been for decades. If you guys weren't so stubborn the economy would surge since it takes up much less resources than animal agriculture, but you go ahead and make up issues that aren't there.

You are what you eat. Your diet impacts your health. Obesity in children and adults is rising across the world. Fast food and sugary drinks are contributing to the problem of poor health and obesity. Eat a healthy plant based diet and exercise regularly. Reduce or ELIMINATE cows milk, eggs, cheese and meat. Eat more salad greens, beans, fruit and vegetables. Eliminate fast food, snacks like cookies, cakes, chips, and sugary drinks and juices. Every adult and child should own a bicycle and ride it regularly. Regular exercise will help you sleep better. Yoga is a great stress reducer. Obesity is all too common today. Get off the couch. Get off the phone, ipad or video game. A variety of stretching and other exercises help with increased mobility. Ride to work, ride to school, ride for fun. Every city should be a bicycle city. Speak up for bicycles in your community

Reducing or eliminating cows milk, eggs, cheese and meat is a terrible way of getting the population healthier, as it will lead to widespread malnutrition. It is extremely difficult to get the daily requirements of amino acids from a plant based diet given their low assimilation rate. 10g of protein from a plant based diet DOES NOT equal 10g of protein from dairy and meat. Plants usually contain a disproportionate amount of carbs for their protein content to start with. This "healthy" alternative contains a 5 to 1 carb to protein ration whereas regular milk is closer to 1.5.

@@robertinho52 What a bunch of rubbish, you have obviously never tried yourself, you've just made up a bunch of delusional beliefs in your head because your garbage eating habits feels threatened. There are more nutrition in plants, you just have to eat a little bit more in general in order to get your daily calories, which is easy because it's both cheaper to buy and produce. If you for some reason can't do this, you can focus on consuming more calorie dense foods like nuts, seeds, legumes, and fats.
