It makes sense that clover did the job, people were growing corn using green manures long before chemical fertilizers were around. 2 questions: How did the fish guts experiment work out? As a test, could you add a little lactic acid bacteria, say from a few drops of raw sauerkraut juice or cultured buttermilk, to see if it out competes the upper rot in your silage barrels?
@McGieHomesteadAdventures
@McGieHomesteadAdventures Жыл бұрын
I didn’t see a visible difference in the corn….. but at least it didn’t get dug up! I forgot about the pickle juice on the barrel silage 🙁

Great job! Our ancestors didn't have chemicals to grow. Plants don't have a digestive system or liver, so when chemical fertilizer or pesticides are used, it goes directly into the plant. Keep up the good work Sir!

Already got ground worked to plant crimson clover where I’m growing my non-gmo hybrid corn next year. If the open pollinated variety performed this well on just crimson clover, I can’t wait to see how the hybrid corn will do. If God willing and the creek don’t rise, I might have to build another corn crib.🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽😀

Hi brother Micah Jeff from Lebanon PA did you ever plant beans for the harvest as in soy beans man I’m telling you they’re great if you roast them and then put a little salt on them after they come out of being roasted or even deep-fried and then added salt I love soy beans my great aunt her name was Esther and she used to get these soy beans that were barbecued flavored. Those were amazing you can’t find them anywhere. Also, brother, can you eat that multicolored corn and does it taste good?

@@McGieHomesteadAdventures not sure if it's the corn variety or because this is low area, black dirt, high water table, what is typically called a Carolina bay. I save seed from tallest and biggest ear plants mabe next year if you want some I could send you some seeds. Hickory cane is supposedly the predecessor to hickory king.

@@McGieHomesteadAdventures your picking it still wet? All the corn around here the stalks are brown when they harvest it that corn still has a lot of moisture in it. I am more interested in the crimson clover are you tilling it back into the soil as a green manure. Guess I need to look back into your videos. We grew some truckers corn last year I swear it was 16 foot tall. But we grew it with sweet clover like as a ground cover. I want to limit the work and fertilizer expenses and am amazed on just clover to grow corn all season long. No rotational grazing with cattle or pigs on them growing site after you harvest?
