Mah main man Micah McGie out there in the clear-as-a-bell Autumn fields , balancing using technology (tractor plowing) and human connection to the Earth (hand-seeding the fields) and working hard into the looong Shadows of the Day

Growing up we lived in an old wood framed house. When my dad or bro would disk our big field garden and small orange grove the window sills were full of dirt. Some how that flying dirt would come though every crack. Mom and I would also have to make sure to bring in the wash off the line.

It’ll definitely improve the soil. Might take a couple years to get the same results I get, but it’s gonna happen!

I really enjoyed the video ! The cultivators did a good job of hilling up around the corn . You can just save your cobs for TP that you grew with your Crimson clover lol . I need to get some cover crop seed here soon planted but I have been waiting on a frost to kill what I have growing . The cover crop I planted between my corn I'm just leaving the cool season crops are starting to kick in like the tillage radish . Thanks for sharing and have a great day !

I’ll bet it looks good in between the rows where the tillage radishes are coming up strong!

I decided to do fall potatoes, my goal here down south is that i could harvest mid December. The spuds will be much smaller but hopefully they'll be perfect for seed when we drop them in the ground Valentines 💘 day (55° ground temp).

Great video brother. Also if there's a shortage of TP again you have corn cobs for backup. 😂😂😂

Im doing crimson clover now because of your videos. Tried brown mustard + oats this year before i got my clover seed shipped in and its grown great and out competed the fall weeds. That brown mustard is something id recommend to incorporate in with it if you can get it in early because It kills weeds and wire worms among other pests. I might consider daikon tillage radish too for OM and deep tillage cover that'll bring up deep nutrients. But your mustard you'd want to do more like 15-25lb an acre so it doesn't overshoot the clover. Though it'll die back at frost. I got some daikon and more mustard but i think all ive got time left to plant is the clover though so I may have to get to mixing stuff more next year instead.

Quote of the day, “Plant Crimson clover. It’s the future of cornbread.” I can’t argue with that. I planted 200 lbs last year. I was wondering if it would come up. It came up the quickest where I disk and cultipacked. Later it came up good where I just broadcasted on top of the ground. It was beautiful. Thank you for the video and the advice about planting crimson clover.

I have what i call a Mini-micro chicken farm. It's tiny, lol. I've planted some red clover and rye (alternating years, never together) in the past. Watching your videos has convinced me to try some of the crimson clover variety. And i like the idea of putting some wheat or oats with it. Never tried that before. Thanks for sharing with us all! 🖖✌️

Great video, great info. I would love to plant a couple acres of Crimson Clover before I plant my corn next year, but, I have to clear the acreage before I can plant the corn, wheat doesn’t do well here in SW Louisiana. I will plant my 4ea 50’ of sweet corn though.
