Under 50V you can comfortably touch DC voltage with dry hands without any zapping. 100V is the danger threshold, where you can be in serious danger in you touch it in some cases. Generally above 60V DC, you have to handle the voltage as dangerous high voltage, because if somebody licks it and closes the circuit in an unfortunate way it could be really dangerous. But if you touch 60V with dry hands you likely won't even feel it, depending on your skin thickness and tolerance. With AC, 50V is the safety limit. If you touch 50V AC you will feel it. The robot has AC in its BLDC motors, so it is a good idea to not exceed that during operation.

I don't think most people realize how using humans, to train robots with very similar degrees of freedom, using a neural net, is such a game changer. It's hard to tell how powerful the neural nets *really* are from just press releases, but the potential is amazing.

Well thought out questions Brian! You know Dr. Walters well enough to know what you can expect to elicit out of him. All helpful and interesting bits to help us understand Tesla's competitive advantages, helping us with our convictions. You brought up the mulch walking balance catch. Amazing to me it was able to do that without any vision. Pure gyro momentum correction similar to SpaceX falcon rocket vector corrections. More great content!

About a year ago, while taking a nice walk in cool weather, I reached up to tie my hoodie tighter. Then I wondered, how long will it be until the geniuses at Tesla get Optimus to do this without looking at its fingers?🤔🤩 Recently I’ve also been wondering about wear and tear on the hands and how they will replace the soft bits and sensors in the fingers?🤔 Great discussion fellas!🙏🏼😁🖖🏼

Interesting tidbit around pain. It was standard thinking for many years that itching was a mild form of pain through the regular nervous system. However, itching has its own dedicated sensory system. This makes a lot of sense, as itching is very closely associated with parasitic infections. Should Optimus be able to scratch its own back or just ask for help from another bot?

So incredibly satisfying deleting spambot comments that I get up early to do it. I wonder if they will quit spamming if we continue to thwart their skullduggery.
@FutureAzA
@FutureAzA 14 күн бұрын
I doubt it. They'd have to see returns less than it costs to run the bots, and bots run practically for free. There are less sophisticated bots that use the same text over and over, and I've set up filters for it. Doesn't stop them even though their comments never, ever see the light of day.

I am really surprised the bot will be 52V and not 48V because 52V is getting into the danger zone for electrocuting people, although we know current is the most important factor in the dangerousness of electricity.
@machoopichoo2
@machoopichoo2 14 күн бұрын
That and Tesla has already started using 48V, as we all know.
@FutureAzA
@FutureAzA 14 күн бұрын
It IS 48v. The deeper explanation might have been in part 1.
@machoopichoo2
@machoopichoo2 13 күн бұрын
@ I think the good Dr. indicated it is nominally 52V, which indicates it will mostly run around 52V, with some variations in voltage under load. More important though is the current, which is the biggest part of danger to humans.

@machoopichoo2
@machoopichoo2 13 күн бұрын
@ Supposedly anything over 50v is dangerous, but obviously it's not nearly as bad as 120v or 220v. Again, current is the most potentially dangerous.

So many makers of Robots, and LLM's . . . and Tesla is currently under $400. I hope this latest thing gets Elon more focused on Tesla stuff, as Grok seems to have some serious competition.

" Grok seems to have some serious competition." Deep Seek is a major step forward for AI, and the Chinese deserve full credit for that. But they were nice enough to place their discovery as open source, free for all to copy. XAi, and all the other AI companies will quickly include this capability into their system.

Comment of the Year: Is havin a Tesla Boy Robot? Like a "StarBoy" an Optimus children sized, becomes the toy of the child, films and teaches and does someof the childs chores, grows up with the child... Then when you child becomes taller, Order Longer legs from Tesla. Gone are the days whe you buy a bunch of tys that will just be thrown away. StarBoy wll have longer legs,arms as the owner becomes 18 years old. And when the owner is 20s the Cyber Bot "StarBoy" is the dj of the Owner'S wedding. "starboy, could you play the song when my wife now first met at the playground with her own StarGirlBot?" Starboy says, "sure Dave!" Or... The tesla teen bot just kills the human and he takes over the persona and the boys character while the parents are In disgust because tesla bot is covered in blood .

If their AI is developed the same way as openAI, the Chinese just beat them to it. Self-reinforement learning seem the way forward. Check the British company Wayve using a similar approach for FSD. Will Tesla push through or change strategy?
@FutureAzA
@FutureAzA 13 күн бұрын
I know it may not be a popular opinion, but I'm of the opinion it may just be too early to know what the best (and maybe only?) approaches will be. If a company isn't prepared to pivot, they may never get there at all. We've seen Tesla do a major pivot a few times on FSD, so I'm hopeful they're able to recognize when they're on the wrong path.

@@FutureAzA I agree that they are more 'flexible' and have less ego (except for the majority stakeholder) than other companies. It may be a setback this year, but will pay off more in the future. I would be interested to know more about Wayve. They are still startup level but secured a billion in investment. They use a very different approach.

@@FutureAzA Do you even realize the confusion this creates when the title is changed? There's a simple way to avoid the problem. Use an episode number for each video. Many channels do this. Then you can change the title, and a viewer can just search on the ep #.
