When my son was an infant, he couldn’t digest baby formula without stiffening and screaming in pain. His doctor (board certified in Rhodesia Island) recommended a healthy alternative: GOAT’S MILK supplemented with Liquid Vitamins which I added with its dropper. My son took goats milk from 2 months old til 1 year old. He thrived on it and very healthy. Goats milk is available at health foods stores, Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s. Don’t hesitate to use this alternative. Hope this helps.

Something called cronobacter bacteria got into the formula at the Abbott Company. Cronobacter bacteria is a bacteria that is in the environment and it's found in powders and dry foods. It's a sanitary thing. It grows in contaminated wastewater and that tells us several things. It's possibly carried around from people who are careless in washing their hands after using the bathroom. It's probably caused by unsanitary and careless production and packaging of the product. Possibly machinery used to package and produce this product was not cleaned properly. People cut corners, companies hire cheap labor and people who don't know what they are doing. It happened all kinds of ways. Possibly a combination of all of the above. I looked in my local Publix here in Florida. Nothing on the shelves in baby formula.

I think it really depends on the mother and child. A lot of children are lactose intolerant meaning they get sick from milk therefore cant have milk from their mother. Sometimes mothers dont produce enough milk to support their baby/babies. It's really common. Most mothers would probably breastfeed if they could.

My son was born in 1964. Baby formula wasn’t easily available so people were given instructions on how to prepare their own formula. I’m aware that a few babies with severe allergies may not be able digest this formula, but most babies will. Why we don’t try to solve the problem using common sense rather than turn everything into a crisis? My child didn’t suffer any bad consequences from drinking this home made formula. In fact he was very healthy with an IQ. Well above average. II’m disgusted with the new media sensationalizing everything

Infants 0-6 months should strictly be on breast milk or formula. NOT EVEN WATER. Some babies have digestive issues and need special formula to stay ALIVE. Stop with the old wife’s tales. I was literally going crazy, major anxiety due to this. My baby is GJ tube fed and we dealt with severe food intolerance for months after she was born. She finally accepted amino acid based like elecare, then when that one was recalled we switched to PurAmino and alfamino. Then those were sold out super fast, not even the medical supplier had them, they were so nice and were able to send us a few samples, we purchased some at double the price via amazon and even that was hard. I called my baby’s dietitian crying asking for an alternative. Thankfully my daughter was able to tolerate peptide formula just fine. Otherwise I don’t know what else we could’ve done.

Breast milk is definitely better than milk formula. The problem is when mother is not able to provide breast milk. Either they do not have enough or they cannot be with the baby (The presence of baby also increases milk production). Unfortunately, US unforgiving maternity policies (or lack of) makes their mothers dependant on milk formula

Don't freak mom's, remember powdered baby formula has only been available for less than a century. 1/2 gallon goat milk, 5 tablespoons molasses or maple syrup (NEVER HONEY), 4 vitamin B-12 drops, 1 1/4 teaspoon flaxseed oil and shake then date and put in fridge. Should last a week if you don't boil the milk ahead of time. In a bottle mix 1 part water to 2 parts formula and boom. Baby fed. Not every momma throughout history has been able to make enough milk remember?

@Block Lord The breast milk banks can't keep up with demand. Not every baby can nurse, has a biological mom caring for it. There's also plenty of moms that can't even make enough milk for the baby they have. This has been known for centuries. Ever heard of wet nurses? There were reasons for that job. Also some babies can never learn how to latch on because of hospital intervention. That last one almost made me have to feed mine formula. Jerks at the hospital gave my baby a bottle instead of bringing her to me for feeding and she almost couldn't figure it out after we left she was so confused.

This is a result of 3 companies controlling almost the entire baby food market and then 1 of those companies producing baby food that was so bacteria ridden it caused 2 babies to die. Add to that COVID supply chain disruptions and the fact that Trump's renegotiated NAFTA (USMCA) makes it near impossible for Canada to import baby formula into the US and there you go. I'm sorry that the ripples of the last guy's incompetence is still hurting people.

Parrot, folks have to be careful with eBay sellers … there are some good ones as well as some bad ones… anyone buying on the site should demand to see photo of Formula expiration date. Even then, they could still ship old stock. I’ve had several bad experiences with old stock/damaged packaging on food items. I am confident from my own experience and backed by a Board Certified Doctor … Goats Milk + liquid pediatric multi vitamin … is all that is needed for babies to feed on.

Breastfeeding takes a huge tole on women. Getting up every 3 hours to breast feed while sleep deprived isn’t safe for baby or mom. It’s okay to supplement with formula. Plus not pumping and breastfeeding isn’t just “because it hurts.” Many women suffer from cracked nipples and can even have them fall off from doing so! No need to shame women

i had goats milk as i was allergic to cow milk but my siblings had boiled milk with a few drops of honey, peel the skim off the top of boiled milk. cool, feed. my son had to have evaporated milk. not much formula in alaska back then. it was almost same procedure i canevmilk 2cans water 1 half tespoon honey. honey helps them digest also honey water anytime
