How do I fix it if the bilateral factor wasn't used in calculating my initial rating? The rating has been in place for 20 years but I'm seeking an increase and these percentage points will help.

I've wondered recently about bilateral factors as it applies to radiculopathy or specifically sciatica. Namely, does it have to be at the same time down both legs, or does this apply if it is transient? I ask as the S1 can be pressed to the left side and cause sciatic nerve pain; however, due to the kinetic chain it can also go to the right but does not occur at the same time but switches sides. Is this considered bilateral?

If it is happening on both sides it would be bilateral regardless of whether or not they happen simultaneously

@prestigeveteranmedical Sounds like I have to do a supplemental claim or an appeal. I mentioned it in my personal statement and in the C&P but was only rated for left as that's all the examiner marked. Thank you
