Robert needs a lot more recognition. He’s the current block per game leader and he’s second in blocks this season despite the fact that he missed a few games. He’s even shown versatility when guarding any position on the opponents team and his help defense within the perimeter has been key to the Celtics’ defensive push this season.

And Smart
@jfmgunner
@jfmgunner 2 жыл бұрын
On Celtics fan forums, this same criticism of Smart has been very prominent all season, until this turn in form in 2022. Now most people are happy to admit he has blossomed as the clear point guard playmaker. My philosophy with Marcus is the frustrations with his sometimes wild offense are vastly overshadowed by his defense. I will accept literally 3 terrible forced 3s a game for the tenacity, instincts and defensive brilliance he brings every night. He is the engine for motivating everyone else to play with his energy defensively. Go back to the Celtics recent playoff victories on their recent run to 2 out of 4 ECF's .Especially against Philly, in close late games he will make somewhere between 2-5 crazy genius defensive and hustle plays to turn the tide and has single handedly won games that way. When you need him in a game that matters, he consistently makes makes winning defensive plays: grabbing a steal, forcing a turnover, taking a key charge, leaping into the third row for a loose ball, anything really. For that, I excuse all his deficiencies. And now that he even cut those down, I think this team is a legit contender like never before. I see big things for this team.

They have Williams and Smart running the defense, then Tatum and Brown running the offense, while role players knowing their job. It’s a team contribution and that’s what they’re doing, playing as a team. A team with two all defensive players (imo) and two stars who can play both sides of the floor, now that’s scary. I see them having a chance against any nba team rn. Playoffs are gonna be FUN this year. 🔥🙌🏼

Haven't watched yet, but I predict this video will contain some of Coach Nick's classic Celtics hate/dismissal, and his irrational disdain for Marcus Smart, despite him praising players that do things he disses Smart for. Hoping I'm wrong! EDIT FOR VERDICT BELOW: I was pleasantly surprised at the absence of any obvious anti-Celtic bias, but the drive-by on Marcus Smart wasn't especially nice. (Can you hear me shaking my head, Coach?) Criticizing Smart's Turnovers is valid enough, I'll admit, but ignores the bigger picture of the value he brings. His passing is average at worst, and ELITE at best (especially to the Timelord). Just look at how Boston did when Smart missed games versus how they've done with him back, and it becomes clear how important he is for the Celtics' success.

From a scoring perspective, there’s two major differences between a guy like kd who is in the convo of greatest scorer EVER and tatum. One, KD is as consistent as we’ve ever seen, he doesn’t have off nights and two, he doesn’t have nights where he chucks 25 shots while he’s super inefficient. Kd is far more efficient and consistent. Tatum has been great over this 2-3 month stretch but before that he was averaging 25 on 41-42% from the field and low 30’s from 3. When scoring’s your top skill, you better be damn near 30 with efficiency numbers like that. He’s turned it around but KD is in a class of his own

Except that Tatum and Brown are more versatile than Lavine and Derozan.

Except Celtic's centers are miles better in defense. Vooch is great in offense though.

nahh wont trust either tatum or brown with ball in there hand in clutch, they might be closer talent and skill wise, but kd’s clutch shot making ability is way up there

I am the biggest Celtics fan out there. No, Tatum isn’t better than KD simply because of KD’s efficiency. Tatum is playing out of his mind but regardless of how well Tatum is playing, there are probably 3 players in nba history that can hang 30 points on 12 shots and KD is one of them. I will say I do whole heartedly believe the Celtics need Tatum far more than the needs need KD. I hate to say this but I think we need to trade Brown. Him and Tatum play the same way, they’re both contested shot takers (obviously Tatum better than brown) but this makes it very hard for both of them to have great games at the same time
