It's actually a pretty bad controller in terms of modern expectation, and of the mini d-pad, but it was still a good controller in terms of how it feels to use, the left stick and the face buttons were great. It's really a double edged sword of controllers... or something like that.

The menu music is so relaxing and just brings me back to the early 2000s when game companies got experimental and tried new things. When there wasnt a big need for online play. A time where you could sit at home and play a game without having to worry about a virus spreading or companies being too afraid to fully try. A time where almost every game on the console was good except for a couple exceptions. I will always love the Gamecube. It is by far my favorite system and will never be topped. I love everything about it. The design, the menu, the controller, the graphics, the gameboy add on and especially the games. This system has some of my favorite games ever made and some of the best in their game series. Luigi's Mansion, Windwaker and Twilight Princess, Double Dash, Pikmin 1 and 2, Mario Sunshine, Super Smash Bros Melee, Tak and so much more. You can disagree with me but that's how I feel about it.

In case people are confused, MK Double Dash, Kirby Air Ride and 1080 Avalanche did NOT have online, despite what you think you may have heard. They had LAN functionality where you could connect multiple Gamecubes to play multiplayer as well. I know...people think LAN means automatically online/internet nowadays sometimes, and yes that CAN be a scenario, but LAN really means Local Area Network, meaning connecting multiple devices together in the LOCAL area...usually with cables back then! Of course nowadays there are easier ways with Bluetooth or Wireless connection.

I bought my GameCube in winter 2003, with Super Mario Sunshine, Crazy Taxi, and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle to start with. I have since sold it in favor of the Wii, since we didn't have the space for two consoles in the family room and the Wii is backwards compatible with the GameCube. Nintendo was certainly more risky with their series back then. It was charming...even if I still happen to dig modern Mario sports and easier Kirby games. Good video.
