First Sega has swapped CD's place over the years like how they swap classic Sonic, Silver, and Blaze from a different time to a different dimension, Origins is the most reason source, when Mania was made CD was after 3&K which is why Robotnik brought back Little Planet instead of the Death Egg. Second, Knuckles is guarding the Master Emerald on Angel Island, Tails is somewhere else, and the Death Egg was destroyed didn't you play the games. If characters not being present is a factor, then where was Amy in 2, 3, & K. (Does S & K also take place before 2 because it technically doesn't have Tails in it either.) Third, where did you hear that Mecha Sonic Mk. II was called Metal Sonic Mk. III because that is not true at all, also why would Robotnik go from his best creation to a metal trash can in 2 the evolution is clearly Mecha Mk. I (2), Mecha Mk. II (3&K), and then Metal (CD) and this being the evolution of Metal Sonic was confirmed by one of the creators a long time ago. So yes, there is a debate because your opinion is factually wrong.

There's lots of great possibilities but I think they kind of had to play in a "generally recognizable" space. They got, like, one per video that the characters had to spell out exactly what it was, and the rest were sort of "if you're watching a gaming parody video, you know what these things are" kinds of power-ups. I'd kind of like to see Tails with Mario 3's P-Wing or Tanooki Suit (... not neat), Final Fantasy's Maiden's Kiss in Battletoads (but the item's a little too obscure), Mario finds Tetris's L-block but it fills in a pit and erases half the level, Dark Souls boss used a Full Restore!, and maybe we throw the Harvest Moon kid a win with the Rod of Seasons?
