I have grown to not like the rhetorical device of antithesis such as used there. It is too much like rigid black and white thinking and ignores the vast nuances and shades of gray in between and the diversity of options that exist or can be created. Totally Testing the waters for worse violations of our freedom in the name of progress and so many agree with it, it breaks my heart. But we must stand strong and remember this is a material world and it's not worth surrendering our principles. I agree. My addition to this is to keep our senses safe. I'll play devil's advocate here. The problem with many of the forms of collectivism mentioned here is that it is implemented on such a large scale that participation in the "collective" is involuntary. There is such a great difference between voluntary and involuntary collectivism. I played in bands when I was younger, and a remarkable thing about a band is that the group can be greater than the "sum" of the individuals that make up the group. As individuals, the members may seem unexceptional, but in the right combination there is this this strange synergy that happens and something "emerges" that is greater than the individuals in isolation. That's just something to consider.
