Excellent discussion and presentation :-) I USED to be a T2 Diabetic. I was diagnosed on 2007. At that time there were Zero Channels on YT discussing the Ketogenic Diet... I had to figure it all out for myself.I began by cutting out Sugar, then I stopped sugar related foods like Bread, etc. My A1C began to drop, so I researched further... Eventually I learned about Dr. Eric Berg and started Fasting. Woe! My A1C dropped to normal levels... and I haven't looked back... sort of... I began to slide back to my Old Eating habits and discovered my IR to start increasing again... I am preaching to myself again that the eating habits, which reversed my Diabetes are not simply a Weekend thing, but a total and Lifelong way of life... It's the only way to prevent any relapse... Sorry, if I just Rained on someone's birthday party... O-Well... 🙂

EXCELLENT! So, amazing that you navigated (successfully) these waters with little guidance. That took quite a bit of dedication and perseverance. I commend you on that. Most people aren't willing to make that type of investment, not even for the sake of their health. Yes, you are absolutely correct...it has to be a lifestyle, not a short-term solution. Getting back on the proverbial horse should be a cake-walk for you. Keep up the great work! Blessings.

If you want to heal your neuropathy you have to cut out sugar in all it's forms. That's why Keto is very low carb as ALL carbs turn into sugar in the body. So many people are addicted to bread, and pasta, and those are the worst things you can eat besides just spooning cane sugar into your mouth to destroy your nerves. I know how hard it is to give up bread, but if you remove it from your regular diet you can enjoy a few bites of it as a treat once you've progressed in reducing your neuropathy pain with a strict regular diet. I love bread, and butter, pasta, corn tortilla or corn chips, beans, and cornbread, but I know they are like eating poison if I want my nerves to heal so I avoid all these things most the time and only eat small amounts as a treat perhaps once every three weeks. When I say treat I mean like a golf ball sized portion and enjoy the heck out of those few bites. Once you get your neuropathy under control you'll be able to judge when you can begin treating yourself. BTW, if you are someone who suffers from toenail fungus you will find it clears up when you stop feeding it sugar/carbs.

A good bit of news is that refrigerating, pasta and rice overnight turns the storage/carbs into resistant starch, which is not digested, but passes into the gut and feeds the good bacteria. All people need to do is refrigerate all carbs… Freeze bread for one-two days and reduce carbs up to 31%… Toasting any bread will reduce carbs 9%.

Beans are incredibly healthy (as long as you soak them for a minimum of 24 hours before cooking them. I soak my beans for 48 hours). However, you will not be able to enter ketosis if you're consuming beans because they are high in carbs. So, it really depends on what you're trying to accomplish. If you're healthy, on zero medications, your fasting glucose is between 780-80, your Hemoglobin A1c is lower than 5.5, you can follow an anti-inflammatory diet instead of a keto diet but the carbs still need to be minimized. So, you should not be consuming more than 100 g of net carbs daily. The rest of your diet should be made up of good quality fats and protein.

I like your channel and watch it frequently. 8 years ago my wife and I started on a strict clean ketogenic diet. 4 years later I fell while getting off my roof with an unstable ladder. I had extensive bruising, but didn't hit my head so I thought I was good to go. But several months later I started falling for no apparent reason in my home. I finally saw my PCP and ultimately went to the ER which scheduled an immediate brain surgery for a massive subdural hematoma. My surgeon, when reviewing my CT scan, said she was surprised I was able to talk and walk ( a few hours before going to the ER I was, perhaps foolishly, still driving). After the surgery, the surgeon told my family my brain looked like one from someone 20 years younger. I attribute my ability to operate almost normally with the extensive damage and the youthful appearance of my brain to our keto diet. I recovered pretty quickly and pretty much fully. I wish I’d known some things that you talk about like beneficial supplements when I was healing. I have several issues with your presentation though. First, the history of “keto” goes much further back than the early 20th century. The ancient Greeks knew that starvation helped with epilepsy (starvation creates ketones). In 1861, William Banning from London, published his diet that is effectively keto. It was the rage after he published. Also, I think the “requirement” for 5 cups of fruits and vegetables is excessive. There are a number of examples of indigenous populations (Inuit & Maasai) that get little to no fruits or vegetables, and there is the carnivore community who don’t eat them either. My wife and I eat some because we like them, but less than 1 or 2 cups per day.

After being on keto for a couple months, two weeks ago I started eating carbs again. Just for a week, then I went back to keto. 3 days after returning to keto my right hand started getting numb. Soon after it had spread to my left hand and then both feet. It was so bad I could not sleep, was depressed, etc. so I had some carbs again, and tried a bunch of supplements. Now, I have circulation issues that seems like thoracic outlet syndrome. Any thoughts? Was the quick switch in diet the cause? I haven’t been injured either

There's just a few things wrong with what this doctor is saying, for one thing , people on a strict carnivore diet aren't deficient in any vitamins or minerals, and she push vegetables rather heavily but doesn't say much about oxalate s or lectins or other plant self defenses that can cause problems, btw a ketogenic diet is 5% carbohydrates not 10%, most people will never reach ketosis at ten percent, one other thing, beans block the absorbtion of zinc , zinc is needed for a strong immune system, your gut biodiversity supports what YOU eat, not the other way around, somebody in the comments suggested that butter was as unhealthy as bread, how ridiculous , i follow quite a few carnivore people, ALL of them are healthy, I'm ketovore for five years and i am also healthy , I'm 63 and feel and move like I'm 30 with no weight problems, I like helping people but I will not be drawn into an argument in the comments , take me comment or leave it

Hi, thank you for the video. I was one of the ones who recommended you make this video and I'm happy that you made it. I'm slowing moving my way into the keto diet, but I will admit that it does cost a lot and it can be difficult to watch out for what exact foods to avoid. Especially if it's on the healthy version of Keto Diet. I've also tried looking for Benfotamine and Alpha Lipoid Acid R, but unfortanelty in my local pharmacy they don't sell it anywhere and instead just sell the half half version of ALA and Thiamine version of B1. Do you know why that is? Also if I may, could I recommend a video idea on the Autonomic Nervous System specifically. I have had symptoms that mimic that of Autonomic Dysfunction and it is really had a toll on my body within the last year. Do you think those symptoms could be reversed?
@NerveDoctors
@NerveDoctors 3 ай бұрын
Hi there. I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. I do understand that a healthy keto diet is more expensive but here's how I want you to look at it....this is a long-term investment in your health...which is EVERYTHING! Maybe, you can get a membership at Costco where you can get meat and produce at a much lower price than any grocery store and this includes organic. Also, follow the dirty dozen list (www.ewg.org/foodnews/dirty-dozen.php) and only by organic produce on this list, anything not on this list you can purchase conventionally. It's ok to start off with the changes slowly to figure out how best to adapt your budget. You'll find once you figure out how to balance the budget, there will be other things you're willing to cut out of your life because they don't add to your health and you feel so much better following a healthy diet. Hope this helps. Hang in there and NEVER GIVE UP!! BLESSINGS!

Great video and info. I have afib and in the afib FB groups some people have tried keto diets and have reported that their afib issues got worse. What is your view on this?
@NerveDoctors
@NerveDoctors 3 ай бұрын
In functional medicine, I've worked with a number of afib cases, including severe cases, and I always place them on a 'Healthy Keto Diet'. Most of the time, the problem I find with people following a keto diet is they're not following the healthy version. They're still consuming lots of vegetable/seed oils (which will definitely make afib worse), they're barely consuming any vegetables and their foods are loaded with tons of pesticides, antibiotics and hormones. All of these will make afib worse.

@NerveDoctors
@NerveDoctors 3 ай бұрын
You bet. So here's the abbreviated version. First, I do recommend adding intermittent fasting along with a keto diet to get best results. Depending on the energy demands in your life I would recommend that you keep your window of eating to about an 8 hour window. If your occupation requires huge energy demands (for instance if you're in construction, granite fabrication, etc) I open up that window to a 12 hour window. You should be consuming high quality fats like avocados, coconut oil, ghee, EVOO, MCT oil, and raw cheeses. You should eat high quality proteins which mean either all-natural/or organic grass fed/grass finished beef, organic free range poultry, wild-caught fish (low in mercury like salmon) and organic, free range eggs. You should include 5 cups or more of green vegetables, red cabbage, radicchio, and berries. You are also allowed to consume watermelon (which has low net carbs) and cantaloupe. So, this is a basic outline. The best thing for you to do is go on Amazon and buy a book that will go into greater detail and provide you with recipes as well. Hope this helps. Blessings.

Please mam I have a question. Dose anti noropathy formula works for other nerve problems like back and neck pains from herniated disk problems? Thank you.
@NerveDoctors
@NerveDoctors 3 ай бұрын
Great question. Most of the time, the nerve impingement (pressure or compression on the nerves) from the disc problems do not cause permanent damage, if the disc problem is corrected. Now, having said that, it is certainly possible for it to cause severe nerve damage. The key is to find a good chiropractor in your area that has worked with significant disc problems. In our clinic, we used non-surgical spinal decompression which worked wonders, even with severe disc herniations of 10mm. This is the first place you want to start because without removing the compression to the nerve, the nerve support formula won't help.

Absolutely. This is such an important topic because we're seeing more and more cases of neurodegenerative diseases like this one and the vast majority are brought on by environmental toxicity (including toxic food), poor diet, medications, and GI disorders. We were just talking to a neighbor of ours who has this condition and helping him with it. The first thing you can do for your condition is drastically change your diet. I always recommend Dr. Terry Wahl's protocol. Although she designed it to reverse her own severe M.S. How can i do keto if i am vegan?
@NerveDoctors
@NerveDoctors 3 ай бұрын
Hi there. You can't unfortunately. I'm in a similar boat because I'm vegetarian (not vegan). I chose to become a vegetarian 3 years ago after eating meat/fish/poultry my entire life simply because of my love of all animals/all creatures. It was a very personal choice. Now, I chose not to go vegan because it is EXTREMELY difficult to get all of the critical nutrients that you need on a vegan diet. You'd be amazed at the number of vegan patients I see that are nutrient depleted. So, as a vegetarian, I do consume eggs and cheese, but I always make sure that the eggs are organic and free-range. I even call to ask how much outdoor time they have and how many square feet of land each hen is given. I only consume cheeses from small family farms that allow their goats/sheep to be free-range. Now, the reason you can't do keto is because it's imperative to get complete proteins (all 9 essential amino acids) and as a vegan or vegetarian, we're dependent upon mixing gluten-free heirloom grains with beans and/or consuming eggs. So, although you can't go keto, you can still incorporate some of the principles to improve your health. For instance, increase the amount of high quality fat you're consuming. Eat fat bombs or put coconut oil and ghee in your coffee, for instance. Make sure you stay away from processed foods. I find most vegans consume quite a bit of processed meat-alternatives. Make sure you're taking in a lot of low glycemic vegetables. This will help substantially.

Pretty sure kale is extremely high in oscillates and haven't seen anyone suggest fruit on keto! Surely this is sure way to spike insulin ?! Can you be more specific on suitable protein because a blanket statement isn't very helpful for an already confusing mix of information

Berries (any kind) are allowed fruit on the keto diet as are lemons, limes, peaches, cantaloupes and watermelon. These fruits are shown in the research not to spike insulin or glucose. Yes, even watermelon. Although watermelon has a high glycemic index it has a low glycemic load. The lower glycemic load (even in the presence of a high glycemic index) indicates the sugar will not be dumped into the bloodstream as quickly and as heavily. This is a simplified explanation. Suitable protein: organic or all natural (without hormones & antibiotics) Grass-fed/grass finished beef, Organic cage free/free range poultry, fish with low mercury levels, Pasture raised organic Eggs. Hope this clarifies. As I stated at the beginning of this video, the intent was not to explain and break down the components of the keto diet because there's already a TON of information on KZbin and the internet about it. It was to clarify if following a keto diet would be helpful or detrimental to the recovery of nerves. Hope this helps. Blessings.

Keto diet impact on CKD?
@NerveDoctors
@NerveDoctors 3 ай бұрын
Overall, if a 'Healthy Keto Diet' (as I explained in the video) is observed and adequate water intake is followed daily, research has shown benefits with CKD. I've included several research studies below. I always tell my patients the key is to protect and rebuild the kidneys. I always place my patients on a couple of supplements to do this. I use (Premier Research Labs) Premier Aloe (caps) and Hyssinol along with K-drain by Transformation Enzyme Corp. academic.oup.com/ckj/article/17/1/sfad273/7379588 doi.org/10.7326/0003-4819-140-10-200405180-00007 doi.org/10.1016/j.jada.2009.12.016 doi.org/10.1038/nutd.2016.36 doi.org/10.3390/nu12020333 doi.org/10.2215/CJN.08001109 doi.org/10.3945/ajcn.2010.29479

Until you change your thoughts regarding food, you will continue to struggle. Google the book “As a Man Thinketh” by James Allen. It was written in 1902 so you can now get it for free online. Don’t read it, devore it! I have been reading it for 34 years and continue to read it daily. It’s only 24 pages long. There a section on where he say “here is a rich man who is the victim of a painful and persistent disease as a result of gluttony. He is willing to give large sums of money to get rid of it, but he will not sacrifice his gluttonous desires. He wants to gratify his taste for rich and unnatural Bianca and have his health as well. Such a man is totally unfit to have health, because he has not yet learned the first principles of a healthy life.” Please take it to heart and take ownership of your health and don’t wait for someone to come to the rescue. They aren’t coming! Only wait till it’s too late! Be the hero of your own story. With love. ❤

I wouldn´t eat that much of carbs unless you count fibers in the consumed amount. I count only net carbs and those that are fibers that does not melt and does not get absorbet in your guts i don´t count. You should also remember that some of nutritiets and vitamines of the veggies, berries and fruits does not absorb as well as from meat and eggs. Some veggies also have toxins and antinutrients as well so some of them isn´t good for your helth. I wouldn´t eat other fruits than citron or lime becouse others have way too much of carbs and fructose isn´t good for the helth or keto anyway.
