A Minecraft Movie has sparked a lot of debate online from people hating it to people loving it. Many had an issue with the CGI, green screening, live-action instead of animation, along with other stuff. But Mojang has been releasing behind the scene videos of the Minecraft movie and fans are starting to have hope that the movie could be good and not more Hollywood slop. This is basically what the "Ugly Sonic" strategy is. They make a really bad trailer for something and show some memeable materials, then after a few months of memes, cyber bullying, reactions and parodies making fun of the trailer and unintentionally giving the movie more attention, they make a way better trailer, then almost everyone encourages their friends to go watch it.

controversial opinion: didn't hate the first teaser. I really like the idea of minecraft on shader steroids. I get why people dislike it because it doesn't look like the animations that people made but honestly, if the minecraft movie did do animated, I probably would like it more, but I wouldn't loose my mind over it. tldr: as long as it feels like minecraft (everything looking blocky, huge world, beeg mountains, village with similar if not identical house designs, etc.) im happy.

I personally still have very mixed feelings about this movie… Some of the CGI looks great (The Bee) while others I wish never existed (the llama and the sheep…) but the yearned for the mines joke was genuinely pretty fun and gives me hope that this movie might not be a train wreck after all.
