This is a northern Germanic thing, in german you say 'geschwindigkeit' for 'speed' but for a travel you can say 'fahrt'.

There's actually a difference between hastighet/fart, the former meaning velocity and the latter meaning speed. And although the two words are often used interchangably, from a physics perspective velocity and speed are two different things.

Dutch person here. We kinda have the same word for it: haastigheid = quickness/rush, vaart = rapidly ongoing. The general word for it though is snelheid = speed. The Norwegian and Swedish pronounce is the closest to Dutch. Unlike the German meaning of fahrt, fart (scheet) basically means to pass gas.
