With the apex seals is it better to get a 3mm or 2mm? the differences were shown but the pros and cons weren't explained. Im guessing the 3mm will be more durable long term but have a higher chance of detonating into pieces?

My opinion is that by ls swapping an rx7 you get rid of the uniqueness of the car. Ls swapping it makes it feel like a better looking Corvette. The rotary just feels right.

hi im the proud owner of a 2007 rx8 231hp I was wounding about the exsorst ports.. ar they the only reason way turbocharged is a no go for the renesis

Daniel Kongsgaard pretty much yeah. It's doable but you need to upgrade your entire cooling system to stop overheating but even then the renny isn't gonna last long regardless because it was purposely built to be n/a

ImEasyAs well he already mentioned the exhaust ports which is the biggest limitation besides the compression as you mentioned. Fuel and tuning are a given, thats why I didn't mention it. Cooling and the exhaust ports are the biggest issues to start with

I rebuilt my renesis without noticing it's side seals were thinner on one side. Do I have to take it apart again??

Daniel Atkins This is my very first rebuild and I used an Atkins rebuild kit and the internet. I did it by the book but I'm still reeally nervous since I haven't tried to start it yet. Thanks for the info

Storm Anderozzi : your welcome.. before you start it the engine you should turn over by hand just to make sure the engine is turning freely.. seen a few builds over the years if this was done it would have saved a lot of time and parts..

Daniel Atkins I turned it over by hand and there's the pssh sound but it's a little harder to turn than when I first did it while having stuck side seals and many broken corner seals

Storm Anderozzi : it will be a little tight just after a rebuild since all the seals and springs were replaced, so all is normal there so far..

oki so If I want a roter with turbo I shout swap in the FD instead??? I know it is expensive... bout I like the rx8 and not gonna get a rx7 jous becus of the turbo.. bout if I was to by a turbo for the renesis would like to have around 300hp how long would it run..

081588101 : no.. because the rx8 side seals have a Angle cut on one side where the rx7 side seals are straight cut on the sides..
