Excellent video. As a kings fan the only false notes are that a) Richaun is completely out of the rotation for a long time now (he's an elite roll man in the PnR, but the Kings are not a PnR team anymore so he's kinda useless, especially since he appears to not be able to grasp the defensive scheme), and b) failing to show clips of Davion's primary value as an elite on-ball defender. Still, great breakdown. *edit: I just realized this is a video about offense, so nevermind the comment about Davion. Lol. In place of that, you could've showed clips of Metu's primary offense: great lob threat *proceed to show 20 clips of Metu catching lob dunks*

@John Paul wow. Kings are showing something. I had Kings start 0-15 in September, finishing overall record of 26-56 due to uncertainty of how Mike Brown fit and poor organization. But that has changed. The culture is different, players loved to play for Mike Brown, plus Domas and Fox are having a career year. Monk and Huerter proved to be a perfect fit for the Kings. From 0-4 start to 13-9 is flat out shocking and impressive. Every Kings game I saw, they compete from their heart. They lost to the Celtics in a blowout, but Celtics are proven why they are best team in the NBA when they pull it away.

As a family friend of Huerter I’ve been watching him and this offense in awe, Sac is such a fun offensive team. Kev is way more at home in Sacramento then he was in ATL, they are really maximizing his potential there.

This is a really good analysis, and shows that you actually watch us play! I feel like a lot of creators are cashing in on our success but don't fully know what they are talking about. Something that you should look out for if you want to continue discussing the Kings is our defense, which other commenters have mentioned (I know this is about our offense). It is currently 16th in the league and seems to be improving every game. Watch for Davion Mitchell on ball and KZ Okpala everywhere when on D. These guys are locking up the perimeter, making our lack of rim protection felt much less. Richaun Holmes has fallen out of the rotation mostly due to Mike Brown's focus on defense and Metu seems to be a good option for us when we try to go small. His highlights are mostly going to be dunks and layups off of great cuts from our backcourt. Again, great video! Love to see positive Kings videos once in a while :)

Only correction is that the defense has slowly improved over the season with rapid improvement in the past couple games. You can really see the buy in. Otherwise, this is a FANTASTIC take on the Kings offense and you hit all the important points. I now have an appreciation for the importance of the DHO. Also, that Sabonis/Fox off/on chart was good choice of a graphic. I think I’m going to start going to church and praying for Sabonis’ good health. Thanks for putting in the work to have a solid understanding of what’s happening in Sac. This is a lethal offense and I think the Kings are entering into a legacy era under Monte McNair and Mike Brown. And course, The Beam.

Went to high school in Bentonville with Malik. Literally wore a different pair of brand new sneakers every day then gave them to a teammate or friend at school bc he was getting whatever he wanted from being recruited to Kentucky. (Everybody gave him a ton of shit every day for not going to Arkansas) Took him a while to get going in the nba but I’m glad to see him finally get a chance on a team he works well with. Wasn’t a kings fan before but now I am am bc of Malik. Just wait for some more nasty dunks this year

As someone who lives in the miserable city of Sacramento, its cool our basketball team is good. I've ran in to some NBA players apart of the Kings (I don't know specific names), you don't know the scale of these guys until you see them.

The defense isn't something to write home about? The Kings held the Bulls to a defensive rating of 98.1 and 3rd strait game in a row with a defensive rating of 100.0 or less. Also in the last 7 games, they have had a defensive rating of 106.1 which would be 1st in the league!!!

Hopefully the kings can land a star SF or PF . Preferably a DPOY candidate who can shoot 3s . And they run the offense through Keegan Murray , allowing fox / sabonis to be used in key clutch moments . Monk will be 6th man of the year as a king. And Mike brown will win a COY as a king .

it’s not like they’re going anywhere. i get the fan base is hungry for the playoffs but building for sustained success through the draft is the best way to build in a small market. Trading tyrese was a huge mistake imo.. the guy they got back can already walk like next season. The odds of sabonis signing in sacramento again is low.. hope it was worth it.

I think that’s a valid concern heading into a playoff series, but in terms of just making it there we’ve seen some heavily offensively slanted rosters win a great deal of games. To me they’re comparable to a team like the 2013-14 Trail Blazers, with a weak defense but vastly skilled offense that can sneak their way to a high seed.

They are going to continue to improve on that end as has been on display last 2-3 games. Swear L-10 rating is quite solid, but time will tell. 6-8 seed minimum imo barring major injury issues
