Their whereabouts would have been well-accounted for, so it would've been trivial to rule them out as the suspects. Also, they would have both been much younger compared to the older-looking T-800, similarly to "Ted Cruz looks like the Zodiac Killer".

This resonates as particularly funny to me because of this story. Originally, Arnold wanted to do the dubbing in German, his native tongue, for German audiences. However, the studio quickly decided against it because his accent is actually quite rural so it would sound ridiculous to Germans. So it would be like us watching Terminator and hearing Larry The Cable Guy's voice 😂😂 It would've quickly devolved into a comedy.

There was a terminator novel series I read once that picks up after 2, and iirc basically trying to build the resistance before judgment day, Sarah meets Arnold as a German commando or merc or something. She thinks he’s a terminator at first but after convinces him to help her and John, and eventually he becomes her boyfriend. And so the explanation is that as he grows closer to them, John and Sarah quickly figure out that’s why Skynet models the terminator after him, and it becomes another self feeding paradox of, they only decide to tell him about Skynet because he’s obviously relevant to the timeline but then that’s exactly why Skynet chooses his appearance at all. Would have been a great way to make a 3rd movie with Arnold able to play as a human hero and terminator.

I'm somewhat obsessed with the terminator rn, but all the other films just don't do it for me. The only one that I dig outside of the first two is probably salvation, and even that has issues. I'm gonna have to look for this book series.

They did this as a reference to the German dub of terminator. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s accent in German is like a hillbilly accent in American English, so they had a common German accent for him in the dub.

I love this because it tied the lore of Skynet, Cyberresearch systems, the military, and the T800 together and gives and in-universe explanation on why Arnold’s look was reused. The tech here and in T3 is very similar to the tech in the Future scenes of the main trilogy, Salvation, and the start of Genesys. They even have the prototype T600-800 terminator robots and the sculpt for the T800 “head”. Even before things like the T600s I believe, they were designing things like humanoid robots, complete with “flesh” over a metal skeleton. To say nothing on the air and ground Hunter Killers being either completed or ready for field testing. And then of course, there is Sgt. William Candy himself. He very presence explains why Arnold kept coming back *in-universe.* Candy isn’t just the original donor, he’s the groundwork, and template that *ALL* “human” terminators; T600, T800, T850, T1000, TX, T3000, Matcus in Salvation, the “Skynet Terminator” in Genesys, Dark Fate’s villain, all of them… are built off of. Of course the machines would still use him for their terminators, he was the groundwork for them and was instrumental to the skeleton terminators creation, even into the future.

I can see why they cut it . Its funny but what of the things that hurt T3 was they got a little too silly with scenes that hurt the serious nature of the first 2 movies, such as the inflatable books and the ladies night scene qnd being too self aware, like when he put on the star glasses initially. To T3's credit, its a better sequel than Dark Fate and Genesis. At least they did try stuff with it rather than rehashing what are now Terminator cliches

Genisys was the best sequel. It was so smart that it courted the wrong audience. Genisys deals with concepts and ideas that would be (and in some cases actually were) at home in Star Trek. That soundtrack sounded like the theme from the A-Team. And also this doesn't make any sense. No Terminator except the first one makes any sense at all. Terminators shouldn't look the same. In the first one there is a flashback, where there was a Terminator, that lookes completely different. Also a bodybuilder, but not Arnie. That's why in the future the rebellion needed dogs - to find out who the Terminators are. If they all looked the same, they wouldn't need the dogs and Skynet could save their effort to make them look human. Terminators are INFILTRATORS. Plus, during the interrogation by the police, Kyle Reese was being asked if there were more like him coming back from the future. He said NO. The time machine was being destroyed. I imagine some battle between the rebels and Skynet, where the rebels were winning and destroying their HQ, and the time machine with it. As a last ditch effort. Skynet sent a Terminator back. John Connor saw this and sent Kyle back with him, before the time machine was completely destroyed and all technology of Skynet along with it.

They missed an opprotunity in Dark Fate when Sarah Connor meets "Carl". I was actually anticipating that it would turn out that it would be the real guy seeing how he was aged. It could have explained why terminators were still around after Sarah, John, and the T-800 blew up Cyberdyne. They could have explained how Dyson was the engineer on the robotics side of the T-800 and "Carl" was the engineer behind the neural net processor and his work was never destroyed. That is why "Legion" exists instead of skynet.

Fact: The hair color of the T-800 in the final shot is blond and slicked back. Arnie was shooting Kindergarten Cop at the time of shooting the T2 teaser trailer and wasn't allowed to have his hair cut and colored. I think this is a myth. I looked into it and it has never been confirmed. Even the Terminator Wiki lists an 'unknown actor' in the role. To be honest, from the way he pronounces certain words (like 'CRS' at 1:13), it could actually just be him putting on an accent.

In the Original Timeline Skynet did create the first Hunter Killers and Terminators after Judgement Day in 1997. What we see in this clip is an alternate Timeline where Skynet's creation was delayed to 2004 with a compressed rate of Terminator development. The human built Machines are extremely primitive and based directly on the T-800 sent from 2029 hence why it seems like they already have them as early as 2004. It would still take another 14 years for Skynet to actually build the T-800 Terminator as seen in Terminator Salvation.

If you think about it, only a human being could realistically construct something artificial that could pass for human. At the very least, AI would need a body of work to work off of. Otherwise, the T-800 model 101 and all other convincing cyborgs in the series would not be as successful as they were. That's why I thought the Marcus character from Salvation was an interesting idea. Turning a human being into a terminator is far more practical and narratively interesting.

Right. Sarah, John, the T-800, and Miles Dyson were able to change the timeline by destroying the chip and the arm that we’re being reverse engineered to create Skynet. Along with Dyson, the brains behind Skynet dying and destroying his records, they seemingly stopped Skynet from being created and averted Judgment Day. Presumably, according to T3’s version of events, Skynet went out of business at some point and the military acquired Cyberdyne’s assets (since they created Skynet originally for the military, they likely were already defense contractors). This allowed CRS to pick up the work on Skynet and the events of this film led to a different Judgment Day in terms of the how and when it happened. Delayed instead of averted because Skynet is a constant in that it immediately turns malicious once it becomes self aware.

While this scene is lots of fun (and seeing goofy Arnold dubbed by Samuel L Jackson is a riot), I like what Salvation did better by showing it took Skynet time to develop the T-800 versus it being the first humanoid Terminator after the Hunter Killers. Going off of T2 logic, the T-1000 was a successor to the earlier models, so Skynet using the T-800 for twenty six years before upgrading just doesn’t feel accurate by standards of military arms improvement.

Jackson doesn't do free gigs, uncredited gigs and unless he's friends with Arnold and was asked to be in it, it wouldn't make sense.

I love this scene, but it belongs in one of Arnold's campier movies. Like, this is tough in cheek and the cheek got impaled by the tongue. Very Total Recall. I'm glad they pulled it, but I'm glad it's around to enjoy ❤️

Sorry. This is lame. There is no need to explain why a robot looks the way it does. Future scene: "Hey look there is this same guy again. I think he is the only one who thinks he can fool anyone into believing he is a human." Fame and recognition is contrary to being an effective infiltrator. If that were the case why did Kyle Reese not recognize the Terminator? What is underneath the skin is far more important. If this is canon in the James Cameron universe, it fits right in with Dark Fate. Even Cameron has crappy ideas.
