Bran sitting on the Iron Throne is from the show. Martin told the writers Bran would become a king, but that doesn't necessarily mean the Iron Throne king. More likely a Greenseer king, maybe like a fantasy Charles Xavier, but DnD wanted to remove more and more fantasy to draw in football audiences, they just had Bran become the Iron Throne king.

@@chucklindenberg1093it begins with compromise. Politics/compromise. It's pretty much the name of the game. To play the game, you have to give a little to get a little. Go along to get along. It starts with small compromises and they seem necessary. That become normative behaviour. Then as with all behaviour it escalates. Before long those compromises have lead you to become compromised. "It's not what you know. It's who you know." I'd say, take that saying a step further. Its also what you know about who. "Intelligence communities" collect and correlate information. I think it's fair to define knowledge as verifiable information, or information that can be proved. Knowledge is power. No seat of power will last long without an extensive intelligence network. Yet how can such a network be controlled or ensured to remain truly benevolent, serving only that seat of power? Eating the fruit from the tree of intelligence sets the serpent to chasing it's tail endlessly bringing suffering to all future generations. Biblical. The most important skill to excell at to be a good leader is team building. Being able to buld the team that can and will get the job done. Trump is a skilled team builder. This is why he is so feared by the establishment. The problem is, there is only so much that anyone can do to encourage or motivate any team. People, every single person can be compromised... everyone has a price. It's not always money but there is always a price. Trump seems to actually care about his country, knows the ins and outs of the money game. It seems the price to make him compromise might be to convince him that the country will be brought to ruination unless he steps away. This appears to be the tactic used. But if it's already in such direstraits that such a polarising figure can not only stand a chance but win an election. Who can fault the man for maybe thinking, If not me then who? If not now then when? He has his flaws as we all do. He is not an evil man yet many who stand against him are if not wholly evil, flawed to the point of evil. Behaving in malevolent ways.

I'm not a fan of the Bloodraven skin-changing into Robert's boar hypothesis. He can not guarantee the outcome any better than a boar itself can. Being drugged by Cersei seems to be the determining factor. Robert only needs to encounter a boar on a boar hunt, and likely the boar will charge. After that, Pycelle will be there to snuff out Robert in his sick bed even if there aren't severe enough injuries to kill him. The one that seems most certain is the Direwolf mother and Stag from the opening of the story. There shouldn't be any direwolves that far south of the wall (or south of the wall at all), so I imagine BR had to run the pregnant direwolf from north of the wall all the way across the Frostfangs, over the bridge-of-skulls, into the North proper, and then right into the antlers of a giant stag -- wihout killing the pups inside her. It would've taken a long time and required very unusual behavior for a direwold to accomplish naturally. Taking Ghost to find the dead rangers? Maybe. But I would have listed the multiple times BR surely took the skin of Mormont's raven instead.
@kyserblade43
@kyserblade43 10 ай бұрын
I honestly don't even think it's that strong of a theory that the mother direwolf had been warged. It seems entirely likely to me that given how far North that any remaining direwolves would be inhabitanting, that we can assume all of that territory would have been completely swallowed by Walkers and the undead already. Which mind you in the books the White Walkers do not discriminate between human or animal, the Walkers I'm the books were actively murdering and raising any living things they cake across whether humans or animals and even many sea creatures. Direwolves are very intelligent, given this and the direwolf being pregnant she may have fled South to escape the undead, into territory that the direwolves already feared because of the wildlings, and found those areas completely flooded with all of the remaining wildlings mustering for war, therefore would have literally been forced by necessity to continue south past the wall entirely to escape the threat of the wildlings and the undead. And, what may have possibly occurred from there is a completely organic and allegorical foreshadowing of what would eventually happen to the Starks themselves. By necessity of survival, driven farther south than where any direwolf belonged, the mother was out of her element, in unknown territory that it wasn't adapted to and therefore unequiped to deal with. She was gored by a massive stag, which seems to me is a VERY unlikely target for a very pregnant, most likely exhausted direwolf to attempt to hunt, especially given the circumstances.There is plentiful smaller game she would hunt for first, it was still summer. BUT if you know anything about stags, then you'll know that when they enter their mating season they enter a state that we like to call here in the South their "rut". Where all of the male deer begin to wander looking for mates and become highly, almost belligerently, territorial and violent. Not only to other male deer, but literally anything that isn't a female deer or doe. And so here a direwolf found itself, much farther south than it should ever have been, in a world and environment in which it does not belong and isn't adapted to survive in. Driven there by the necessity and desire to protect itself and more importantly its precious children, only to see a stag, and disregard it not giving it the vigilance and distrust it maybe should have, because a stag would of course, never attack a direwolf. And all it would take is the direwolf not properly recognizing the stag as the threat it was, and not dedicating the proper attention and vigilance to that stag and the danger it represented. To find itself suddenly and unexpectedly impaled upon the stag's antlers aka Ned Stark, a victim of the Stag's single minded and reckless devotion to fucking and violence aka Robert Baratheon. I love this theory and interpretation way more and find it be a truly masterful and brilliant piece of literary foreshadowing.

Yes the raven saying Snow is dead on. I agree that the two incidents that make the most sense are the direwolf and the raven that got Jon elected LC of NW. I just think that if BR is capable of those two impressive feats, that he could've known to move things along with events like Nymeria chomping on Joffrey's arm, the boar that killed Bobby B, and idk what else. Maybe Summer killing the catspaw when he attempted to assassinate Bran.

The theory of the Three Eyed Raven controlling everything from the shadows kind of takes away the agency of all the other characters. While it doesn't seem that unlikely looking at how the series eventually ended up, I think it's kind of lame. Maybe he tries to do exactly that but there are major downsides to warging into people such as Hodor becoming an invalid and Aerys losing his grip on reality. And he's about to die so he needs someone younger to replace him and achieve what he could not (Bran).

Unless Bran or Bloodraven going in those people like Hodor those people still have agency. We all react to those people around us. The three eyed raven influence could be similar to the type of influence institutions like the Iron throne, The citidel, and the iron bank play on characters that are very far from them. Each of these institutions are powerful but have different agendas and that seen in how there agents operate. Characters adapt to the stresses and actions those institutions put on them all the time though. So I don’t think Davidlewise that unless The three eyes raven wargs into someone they are removing the agency of characters anymore then any other power houses in asoiaf is. I just think recognizing the three eyed raven plausible status as a back ground influencer is more likly going to be used as a plot device because Bran can actively do it or find proof of Bloodraven or someone else that was the three eyed raven doing it. And we can see this be done very fast in the storyline so its convenient. Especially sense there only two books left.

@@ethanwoods1775 hard disagree. Your main characters should be the people doing things not every action of theirs being manipulated and choreographed by a side character that only MAY be Bryden Rivers who is not even explained in the main books. @@davidlewis5312 Exactly. Even in narrative driven stories, your characters should have their own agency (unless *clearly* plot relevant) AND their actions should affect/change the world around them. Likewise, your villains should react to the actions of your characters. I believe the 3ERaven *MAY* have tried warging into the Mad King as its said he would often hear whispers that increased his paranoia and eventually led him to "burn them all," but even that is pushing it. I don't believe he has any more affect on the plot than that. Your main characters should not be passive observers just responding to things that happen TO them.

Same colouration as the weirwood trees. The connection is obvious. I think the video maker goes too far - sending the dire-wolf to the Starks, yes fine, but it's not necessarily the case that he required all the Stark children for his purposes, just Bran and Jon would do. @@basquat76 Impregnating is a stretch! No, but I do think it's possible the three-eyed crow has permanently warged Ghost for a purpose; to watch Jon (and by extension those around him) and to 'lead' him - the discovery of the horn and other items at the Fist of the First Men would be an example. From memory, I think the only time Ghost has ever made a sound was when the Starks gathered up the wolf pups and were about to depart when Ghost alerted Jon to his previously unknown presence. It mattered a great deal to Bloodraven that Ghost came to Jon and not one of the other Stark children. @@basquat76 Yes, a poor choice of words on my behalf. But, I do believe that Ghost acts in the same way as a weirwood tree in that a warg can see and communicate with others through him. But, did Bloodraven guide the dire wolf to that tree so the connection between the brothers could be made? It would be bizarre for it to be purely coincidence. Why would Bran's thoughts turn to some random tree north of the Wall. Were his thoughts also 'directed' by Bloodraven to that point?

Nah, Bloodraven was probably warging into Ghost and perhaps some of the other direwolves as well, but his most prominent vessel seems to be Mormont's raven. Which appears to really want to have the night watch stay on the wall and fight the army of the undead (with or without the Wildlings). That's why it wanted them to leave the fist of the first men (at least that's how I interpreted it), and why it wanted Jon to become the next Lord commander.

Tbh, I’d accept this idea of Bloodraven manipulating everything behind the scenes as long as it doesn’t sacrifice all character agency. Like maybe his plan backfires at times, causing the wrong reactions or making characters become paranoid due to feeling his influence. Maybe he’s the one who drove the Mad King to madness? My main point is that they should make his detachment from humanity and how people think work against him. He’s trying to move things in his direction but he fundamentally misunderstands some people and therefore his plan never works perfectly.

He would want a unified kingdom to fight the others not one at war then greatly weakened by its result. He was already bringing Bran his way with the dreams he was having. Being poisoned and drunk is what killed Robert don't think he was fatally poisoned but it was to slow his reactions. Maybe he was just kept really drunk on purpose to get him killed with delayed reaction time.

The problem I see with these theories is that if they are a part of some grand plan, then it stands to reason they would happen in the most efficient way possible. For example, after bran loses his ability to walk the three eyed raven could simply warg his horse and gallop him over to the tree, but instead he takes a very convoluted path of warging erroneous animals here and there to nudge Bran on a pretty indirect path? No, theories like these do not hold up to scrutiny.

Cool theory but would be counter productive. Best thing wouldve been to show benjin before he goes winterfell. Then ned and bobby b would march north and man the wall with the full 7 kingdoms. The maesters would research the white walkers and find dragonglass which would lead to them realizing dragonstone had it in abundance. Then either jaime or ned would be able to break thru the horde and kill the night king. It wouldve been like 150,000 well equipped soldiers instead of the bloodbath that happened at winterfell

Is it just me, or are we slowly hitting the kinda ironic point that there isn't actually any gods in the GOT setting and that "god" in fact is simply the Three Eyed Raven doing his thing to make sure the story and prophecy goes as it should? I'd personally find that really cool. I like the idea that magic simply just...exist, and that the gods are just people giving meaning to the unfathomable and meaningless, much like irl IMO

@@_antillas8674I definitely agree with you there. Only case I can recall of Bloodraven calling himself a Blackfyre is after the great council that saw Aegon the 5th ascend the throne. Aegon saw Bloodraven sent to the wall because Bloodraven had promised Aenys Blackfyre safe passage to press his claim, but immediately beheaded him once he arrived in the capital. Bloodraven not objecting to going to the wall. Saying "One less Blackfyre to deal with."

I feel like this idea really doesn’t work with the overall themes of the books. A major truth of the series is that characters experience the consequences of their actions, whether for good or for ill. Ned warned Cersei that he was going to tell Robert about the true father of her children. Theon Greyjoy decided to betray Robb Stark and help the Ironborn invade the North. Brienne defies every custom and tradition of Westerosi society as a woman who seeks to be a knight. All of these characters make decisions or follow paths that expose them to considerable hardship and suffering or even their own deaths. They make these decisions out of a number of motivations but the narrative of the story is such that they are forced to experience the consequences of their actions. Putting it all down to the Three-Eyed Raven doesn’t really work with this theme. We also have to bear in mind that even powerful figures steeped in magic and prophecy aren’t always guaranteed to be correct or successful. Even powerful Red Priests like Melisandre are ultimately just interpreting prophecies in the way that they imagine rather than decisively knowing the future.
