Drew, any chance you can do a piece on Pete Hegseth's crusader fetish and his dalliances with ultra-conservative Judaism's Temple rebuild endeavor (which would involve removing the Islamic Dome of the Rock). If you don't know anything about it, try looking up "two red heifers without blemish." Some nuts just acquired said cows from the U.S. and flew them to Israel, as they're needed for a sacrifice before said Temple can be built. The politics in Israel haven't allowed for such a thing, to date, but with left-leaning Israelis starting to leave the country due to the Gaza situation, this could change. For Christians this ushers in the end times. I have family that are into apocalypticism (studying it and being in love with it). These people are gonna gets us all killed.

There is only one God who can manifest in all kinds of ways. He is both transcendent and immanent, having two modes of existence doesn’t imply two Gods. God as explained in the Trinity is triune; Father or Creator God, Son or Christ Consciousness or the Intelligence of God in Creation, and God as vibration or the Holy Ghost or as the elemental or manifest both macro and micro elements. As Omnipresent; omniscience; and omnipotent God is both One and Many. No one can be God but God but we can be One with God or Christ/Krishna or God Consciousness. Religion is one expressed in different ways.

One important point is that Paul didn't write about “faith in Jesus”, he wrote about “the faith of Jesus”-the implication being that Christians must have the same kind of faith as Jesus. This is how it is rendered in the NRSVue.
@scrumbobulusАй бұрын
Is it possible that’s just how someone chose to translate the very messy greek of Paul?
@imagomonkeiАй бұрын
@GodlessCommie if you look at Galatians 2:16 in Greek, it reads _dia pisteōs Christou._ I noticed several years ago that the proposition “in” wasn't there, and it seemed to say “through the faith [of] Jesus”. I'm not a Greek scholar, though, so I'm not qualified to make that determination. But the NRSVue translation, which I've heard from Dan McClellan is the best translation available, renders this verse and a couple others with the same phrase as “the faith of Jesus”. This seems to be more theologically consistent with Paul's idea of Jesus being a “new Adam” and extolling Christians to “follow me, as I follow Christ”. I am probably filtering this through my (noncommittal*) theological lens, but I understand Paul's message to be that Jesus was so faithful to God as to be willing to submit even to death to over God's will, and so Christians ought to have that same faith and be as committed as Jesus was. *I am an atheist, but this was how I understood it when I believed in God and called myself a Christian.

The hell? Dude look into mormonism. Ex mormon here, this is literally stuff we were taught. The lesser known teachings. Not many people in the church were taught these things. The three gates of the first degree of heaven, having to learn four handshakes and your angel name. First handshake for entry, and the other three to pass the gates. People transending into mini gods-eventually to become their own. The 'transendance' of your phyisical form to withstand the presence of celestial beings. I think there were like four to five stages of transendance. First is when you are extremely rightious, second is to be able to bear witness a portion of a celestial being, third is to be able to be in the full presense of a celestial being, fourth is to be able to withstand the fire of heaven, and last is to become a god yourself... or something along those lines-i could be mistaken.
@norbertboholy8288Ай бұрын
Mormonism is a very late sect kickstarted like 1700 years after Christianity. The similarities might be interesting but it’s not like there is a hidden line of teachings passed down through the centuries only to be revealed in Mormonism, so there’s no logical basis to think the ideas expressed there are connected and not more modern extrapolations.

Other than that point, I'll say this is a fantastic interview, and I appreciate all of the work from Dr Justin Sledge.

@@kinoko5566 In Acts 9, it says that he hears a voice, and that a light from heaven shined. It says that the men with him heard a voice but saw no man, and that he was blinded for 3 days. In Acts 22, it again says that he saw a light and heard a voice, but that the men with him also saw the light but heard no voice, and again he was blinded. In Acts 26, he again states that he saw a light and heard a voice, and that all of the men with him also fell to the ground. There's an inconsistency in his account about the men who were with him specifically, which indicates he was lying.
@dl272510 күн бұрын
Not all writings attributed to Paul are now thought to have been written by one person, so that could be part of it. When I studied early Christian thought in university, they had us looking at Christian writings from the second and third centuries, and a lot of it read like New Testament fan fiction… it wouldn’t be a stretch to think that some of the New Testament itself included some even earlier fan fic. It’s been awhile since I looked at any of this, but I seem to recall second Timothy was an obvious retread of first Timothy with signs of some further theological development (christological, especially). And I seem to recall second Corinthians looked suspicious too. Once you see it, you can’t unsee it.

This was my first exposure to the possibility that Paul may have been influenced by Jewish mysticism, and Dr. Sledge’s description certainly gives a lot to chew on and try to absorb. On the other hand, I have wondered for a long time whether Paul’s “visions” may have be triggered pharmacologically: perhaps while on the road to Damascus, he was munching on some bread made with wheat or rye that had been tainted with ergot. The resulting altered state of consciousness seen through the Merkavah lens.

The PLO taught the Iranian Republican guard how to be proper brutes in brutalizing their population and their progenitors worked with Hitler to formulate the final solution, the mufti of Jerusalem went to the camps and suggested better ways to kill Jews, look into how Palestinians have been kicked out of other Arab countries for causing trouble, in 1970 in Jordan the king killed 30,000 of them for being nefarious troublemakers and ruining things for the normal people, they were driven out of Kuwait also, they also celebrated the 9/11 attacks with candies in the streets, civilians attacked across the border from Gaza during a ceasefire on a Jewish high holy day on The Jewish Sabbath

No, he hasn't hit modern global elitist zionism face on. And that's "modern", he's a Dr of "older things".

I think after any talk we might've had with a native isrealite we would know for sure they're cookoo in the head? Also, Zionism is just a buzzword as it currently stands. If you don't call it Israel's ultranationalism no one will understand what you're saying since Jews from other parts of the world are pretty chill.

The first time I ever heard of the Kabbalah was in the movie "PI (π)" (1998) almost 2 decades ago. Recently I got a chance to rewatch it. It holds up imo. It's about Max Cohen, a guy with potential schizophrenia and a loner obsessed with numbers and the stock market. He's trying to prove there is an algorithm to solve its patterns. Then, he begins to see it all as a Fibonacci spiral. And ants for some reason. He finds a series of numbers, after his computer fries itself, that he writes off as unimportant, but might be the answer he's searching for... Eventually, he comes across a sect of religious fanatics and they give him a copy of the Talmud in numerology code. They say that the numbers he found might be part of the true name of God. Or is it? Can he be the new messenger? As it goes on, Max gets pitted between their interests, the heavy hands of stock brokers, and his growing visions. It's a strange film, but worth the grainy ride. The ending is... you can't unsee it. 9/10 👍

from what i remember isn’t really good but comparing to aronofsky’s filmography it’s ok as a strange debut film lol

I can see someone hasn't read about its cooler brother then, you should meet Lurianic Kabballah and then come back

This was incredibly informative and endlessly interesting especially knowing the Bible and Baptist/Christian teachings and being raised in the church although no longer being religious myself. You strengthen my thirst for knowledge with every video! THIS is the Lord's work! 😂❤❤

Justin Sledge has purely scholarly ideas, love his impartial assessment of Middle Eastern lore. The only 'esoteric' channel I have subscribed to... because I do not think I might need any other references, his stuff is that good...

At 20:45 -- While Paul may have been speaking obliquely about a specific eunuch, might he have been referring to the Galli caste? Perhaps he had leveled his diatribes elsewhere against "self-mutilation" at suppressing the influence of Cybele's priests and bureaucrats?

Does anyone else (other than me) find it disturbing that as a matter of esoteric philosophic complexity, human beings in general can’t seem to count higher than two, and so very many can’t count higher than one?
@tookie3624 күн бұрын
Like reality is possibly nondual? Or god plus creation is dual? So in duality god is one but cannot be 2?
@greyhunter245324 күн бұрын
@ I was thinking higher numbers, or indeterminate numbers. God + creation isn’t a duality, because God is innumerable, i.e., not subject to numerical identification: can’t be counted.
