I love my Vong. I owned it for over a year before I realised that I loved it. I was heating it wrong and keeping the air port closed. I am so happy I persevered, my Vong is now my daily driver - even though I press my own rosin for dabbing. The Vong is just so much faster, cleaner and great engineering. Thank you. I finally stopped smoking after 10+ years of daily use. Now I am purely vapour. Much gratitude!

@@ahoier My Vong has both a 10mm and 14mm shape to it. A Vong will fit both a 10mm and 14mm female adapter piece. I heat mine below the captive cap, aiming the flame onto the titanium tip and allowing a very small amount of flame to slip over the edge of the cap, it normally gets full extraction after 2 heating cycles. I find it works best to allow a small amount of space at the top of the herb for air circulation.

A carburetor or carburettor is a device that mixes air and fuel for internal combustion engines in the proper air-fuel ratio for combustion. It is sometimes colloquially shortened to carb in the UK My understanding is that's why it was called a carb on bongs etc, if anything the dynavaps carb hole is closer to the proper definition of a carb
@toyotasupra97

If I’m understanding correctly, the device allows air through regardless of the port being closed or open so the “air port” is changing the volume of air entering the device which can change the dynamics of the end vapor.

Just got desktop vaporizer size hit out of my 2020 m. I love this thing. Love it. Mine clicks twice; the first one is a lighter click and the second one is a louder click. I stopped at one click the first time if I want a lighter tastier hit. After that I do two clicks. Do not cover the air intake. It is not a carburetor. I never touch mine. The second bowl I did one click and then two clicks and got a monster hit. Couldn't even hold it in. At all. It was amazing. After that it was pretty much done. I have it on the .05G bowl setting (the smaller bowl setting) and I seem to get three really good hits out of it. This thing is the best. Probably works great with a bong. Also I always heat the middle of the cap. Whoever invented this thing is a genius.

I use it as a carb, basically, and get huge clouds. You want to keep it closed to heat it all up good for a while and then about midway through your lung capacity, open it up and close it a few times to get it all into your lungs. Wide open will make it click too far to het all the vapor you could, so rock it open and closed in quick little bursts between longer draws eith the airflow closed. Open it up at the end of your lung capacity to get it all. This should be probably right after it clicks. I also take an open-mouth gasp of air at the very end (after taking the Dynavap out of my mouth) just to make sure all the vapor hits my lungs and isn't sitting there in my mouth or at the top of my throat.

Oh, I kinda disagree with going over the click for ANY amount of time. It clearly says on the website that heating past the click can eventually damage the cap. Plus, you're risking combustion, which is why we're all vaping instead of smoking in the first place. Lastly, I've never EVER gone past the click on either of my caps: the 2020M cap, and the Low Temp Captive Cap. After learning how to use the device (2 years ago), I now consistently get medium to dark brown material with zero burnt material and full extraction. In fact, I let my (smoker) buddy load a glass pipe bowl with some of my ABV (material that's "already been vaped"), and smoke it. He smoked the WHOLE (big) bowl in 3 or 4 big hits, coughed his ass off, and never felt anything from it! This means my Dynavap is VERY efficient, but easy on the lungs.

_To answer the original question:_ Basically, *if you don't cover it* , some outside air mixes with the hot air from the bowl, at a point past the bowl. - you don't have to pull so hard - the air/vapor you drag will be a lower temperature - the cap doesn't cool down as much (and you can heat it up faster, eg, for a session). This is because you are leaving some hot air inside the bowl. Not so hot that you are de-carbing, but just under that temperature (because hopefully, you stopped pulling only after the cap clicked back). *If you do* (fully) *cover it* , the only air intake is through the cap. - You have to pull much harder (a whole lot harder from my experience) - the air/vapor you drag will be a higher temperature - the cap will cool down a lot faster, because you are extracting all the hot air from the bowl. You will have to spend a longer time heating it up on the next hit. (perhaps do this at the end of a session). The nice part is that you can roll your finger (like he was showing in the video) to get a continuous spectrum between these two intake modes. If you have used a water pipe, have you ever slightly pulled the bowl out after the herb starts to combust? I do this all the time to prevent second-hand smoke from smelling up my house. But this is kind of similar to the port on your DynaVap. Pulling the bowl out slightly will mix outside air with the smoke, thus cooling it off. And you don't have to pull so hard. But you get much smaller hits instead, so it takes several small hits to clear a bowl. This effect seems true in the DynaVap also, but it's not as extreme, from my experience. The only difference from the DynaVap is that, opposite to the DynaVap, I completely clear the hot air from my bowl with this technique. In the DynaVap, letting the extra air flow in actually keeps the bowl warm. And that's what all those fancy animations with rainbow lines was trying to demonstrate in the video. I'll agree that the explanation he gave was kind of unclear. Hope that analogy sort of illustrates the idea.

@@frederik6519 on some pipes you have a carb or carburetor. Basically, it allows air to enter when you pull through it. It applies to smoking because when you light the pipe, you hold the carb which forces air to be drawn through the substance you're burning so you get a tighter draw for better production of smoke or in the dynavaps case, vapor. You then release the carb and the smoke you've built up is displaced into your lungs. It's a pretty simple concept, but it can be somewhat difficult to get the perfect amount of draw.

@@Trucks_n_stuffno this is wrong. The whole video was made so people don’t think this. For dynavap. Idk about the science full behind it. This is just from my experience and this video helping me. Basically he’s saying you wanna use it the opposite of the way carbs are usually used. For example when I first used the dyna I used it like a carb. Cover the hole while sucking and let go to get smoke. But with the dyna if you let the hole open first then you get more vapor. Then at the end you wanna barely cover it to make it last longer. Also if you cover the hole it can lead to the material combusting I’ve noticed

When a carb is closed more heat is available to the system. However on this, when the airport is closed you loose heat. Two different functionalities. In a combustion setup the carb helps create heat by forcing more air through the combusted material. In this setup forcing air through the material cools the system instead of heating it up. So you dont use it like you would a carb infact you use it almost in the opposite way

But the result for both is clearing the path, and a cooler hit when you open it. Open carb = cooler hit. Open air port = also a cooler hit. Both also mean you're taking a higher air mixture. There's one difference and that's where the air goes from the carb first. The effect should be credited to the part that redirects the air from the from the carb to the material instead of straight to the mouth piece.

@dynavap another version with a larger filling chamber would be perfect! 🙏 I normally smoke CBD flowers so I need to vape much more for a nice effect. Think about it! I would immediately buy this new version!

I also use CBD flower, and sometimes mix it with THC flower. My setup is the NonaVong-S with a low-temp captive cap and a full metal jacket. I place the Dynavap into a sneaky pete style globe, heat the spot and wait for the click. I did find however for me at least, that sliding a piece of thin cut silicone shisha tube over it allows for airflow adjustment by sliding it gradually over the air port until it vapes nicely.

After seeing this I agree: The Airport is more than just a carb-hole. If the cap/tip combination allows airflow THEN all of this feathering etc. comes into play. My original experience with the 'M' wasn't like that. When I put the cap on it was sealed shut on that end with no airflow allowed. Although the tips are precision-machined the vapcaps vary from one to the other so you can get a slightly different experience with each one. When I got the titanium tip THEN I got good airflow and I was on my way. I have since found a good partner for every cap/tip so I am pretty well set. But I wanted to get things rolling in the beginning and I stripped out the condenser and put a small band-aid (the adhesive portion) over the airport and I just work with mouth-tokes and breathwork and it's all very good and I am very happy with it and I am looking forward to the new titanium tip. If the new titanium tip can 'breathe through' 85% of the caps tossed at it we will have a WINNER!!!

It's crazy how things can become over-explained while simultaneously lacking fundamental definitions. All these technical terms going over the average person's head while awkwardly using the slang for carburetor - may as well say "choke" instead. An airport is an airplane terminal. Why try appropriating a term commonly used for something entirely unrelated? Especially considering this hole in your stem is more like a carburetor than the previous ones you're trying to differentiate yourself from. If anything you should be championing the use of the word 'carb' here rather than other devices. You're also just losing a lot of people in the details without accurately conveying the results to the end-user. Look at all the people still confused in the comments asking questions answered in the video they just can't understand... Oh well, years-old video anyway.
