Not only had they nothing in common, their personalities simply did not match. I believe them that they tried to make it work. But as different as they were, one simply did not understand the feelings and needs of the other and failure was inevitable. In addition, the influence of mental illnesses like bulemia should not be underestimated. Even in a functioning partnership, this is a test of endurance. Sad it did not work, but that‘s life. So now Charles is the King. I am an American, but the whole idea of a monarchy kind of turns my stomach. These are just people, like anyone else. Just because they are descendants of famous rulers, this does not make them special. They should not be ruling anyone, or getting tax exempt status. However, I see how much Brits love their monarchy, so I try to be open minded about it. I feel very sad about how they used Diana to produce an heir, and I hope things change. Cheating is never ok in my opinion but we come from “normal” society. No one but a select few can understand the pressure of being in the royal family much less the future king of England.
