But then, the outbreaks can still be easily controlled by the police, or even civilians. Car crash happened? Kill the almost-dead infected person before they'd reanimate, there's still some time left, any police/military personel may do this, and some civilians as well, especially when they feel endangered and survival instinct kicks in. Meanwhile fast/sprinting zombies might lunge on their victim easily, in seconds, and the victim won't have much time to escape. These zombies are even more dangerous in hordes, due to being fast as hell, and being able to lunge on their victims and knocking them down on the ground this way, leaving them in severe and sudden panic and inability to act in time in most cases. Even just the fast speed alone makes them seem more dangerous then they really are, those seeing even one zombie would be way more frightened and have a little time to either dodge the zombie lunge (likely impossible), or escape, while the living person also can get exhausted from running and slow down, unlike a zombified/infected one.

Most of the slow zombies tropes: Everyone is already infected so you only turns when there's a "overload" aka bite, TWD for example everyone is infected but a bite can turn you even if the wound could get treatment or if something take you out, you still reanimate. You are immune but everyone else turned, most of the time the immunes are less than 5% of the population so a small town of 5000 people turns into 4750 zombies VS 250 survivors, just imagine you are the only immune guy on your neigborhood and you live alone (so you wont get taken out on your sleep day 1), that's already easily a hundred zombies around your house from the get to go.

Honestly... this felt more like a side story than an origin story. It started with old man just bit by... something... and thats... pretty much it... The biggest flaw of the movie for me is how unlikable all its characters are. I was actually rooting everyone to die! Except maybe some side characters (the guy who wanted to help the first one who got bitten... the old man who wanted to have a peaceful resolution but got shot, and that one guy that went back to help the FMC).. but the rest I actually smiled watching them die. I really dont know how the amazing Train to Busan spawned a horrible "prequel" / side story AND sequel (Peninsula).. but here we are i guess :(

This movie does offer an vague explanation,towards the end of the movie,after killing hye-sun's boyfriend, Hye-sun's "father" chases her and she hides in a closet,while looking for her ,he talks about her VERY SICK TRUE father,he wanted to collect the debt from him,so he gave him a week,when he went back for the father ,he was gone,like he ran away.I personally think the movie nods this towards Hye-sun's unseen father is the first infected.
