Ironically, a large part of the reason Piett acted so competently was because he was trying his damndest to get transferred _away_ from Vader's command, feeling like he constantly had a sword hanging over his head. And it was precicely because of that competence that Vader kept thwarting Piett's attempts to transfer to another division.

@@LetsHavePun The main reason why Thrawn was followed so eagerly... he ordered dumbasses to learn more, rewarded wisdom, intelligence and creativity, and only threatened and punished those whose problem lied not in skills but personality, starting with racism clouding a performance and ending with inability to take a responsibility for a failure.

Admiral Piett is my favorite star wars minor character because he was basically the Imperial version of Wedge for two episodes, that one Imperial Officer who kept surviving and appearing in later scenes and playing a large role the final battle.

Hello can I ask you a question please? If Admiral Piett and Grand Admiral Thrawn worked with each other in a battle do you think they would respect each other?

@user-td1me4tv3u In my opinion, I think they would be able to work as a duo with my reasoning being based on Piett's backstory in "To The Last" chapter in "Star wars from a certain point of view" which, being from Pietts view, said that Piett joined the Empire to help his planet fight a pirate armada similarly to how Thrawn joined the Empire to help fight against threats to the Chiss from the unknown regions. Both ended up in the Imperial Navy as high-ranking officers by commenable work, merit, and respect from Vader in Piett's case, or Palpatine in Thrawns case. As such, I could imagine both former outer rim world defense fleet Admirals working together quite well given their similarities for why they were fighting for the Empire to begin with.

I think vader knew his old boy R2 fixed the falcon hyperdrive and didnt blame piett for that. (Or atleast that Piett did follow his orders and disabled the hyperdrive and they somehow fixed it)

Fun fact: there is a deleted scene in ROTJ where Admiral Piett is killed by Vader. However, Lucas cut this because Vader had killed too many officers to be intimidating to the audience.

Not quite. There’s a deleted scene of Vader choking Grand Moff Jerjerod for mouthing off, but he lets him go after the moff tells him it was by the Emperor’s command. Vader doesn’t kill anyone the whole movie.
