The Milwaukee stubby screwdriver with the bit carousel like this works great. Never had an issue with theirs
@ProxyFinalАй бұрын
I do not know if this has been fixed on the one that has the knurling rather than the simple chrome finish. The earlier versions are notorious for having oval shaped barrels that squeezes against the carousel and you would think it gets worn in but it does the exact opposite because the surface inside barrel gets rougher and rougher with each use, which takes ejection of carousel to whole new level of dumb f-kery. Edit: I just noticed that the stopper that prevents bits from moving around is missing in your carousel. Did the stopper get stuck inside?
@toolsandtacticsАй бұрын
@ProxyFinal no clue! It never left the house for more than a week, but the bits were too small to grab in the first place i could never get them out so it has maybe 20 minutes of solid action.
@toolsintheartic8087Ай бұрын
I just looked at mine and seen that I have a plate stopping the bits from falling in. Yours is broken, the bits shouldn't fall down
@toolsandtacticsАй бұрын
How! Lol! It never left the house I couldn't get the bits out so I gave up. Haha. Thanks.
@toolsintheartic8087Ай бұрын
@toolsandtactics my guess is quality control since you never did anything to brake it. Mine works great except for the tight bits I agree with you there.
@nickp3270Ай бұрын
yeah mine has a plate also i use this at work this stubby isnt that bad yours on the other hand is bad and id be pissed also kleins quality control has went way downhill
@MindUrOwnBusiness77Ай бұрын
Mine has an internal plate too, however I don’t use it much because the short bits it comes with aren’t top quality. I keep it in my office desk at work for emergency use only.
@hunterstark9556Ай бұрын
Same as mine… mine has a plate as well. Their quality is shit 💩 compared to what it used to be.
@cassgil8448Ай бұрын
Lol, great vid! I have one too and the same issue happened to me. I did eventually get the bits out with patience and some needle nose. Since then, I tightened the clips and haven't had the issue since. Though it has been convenient several times, I think they do need to improve the design. good luck

ive got BOTH the longie and the stubby, use both on the job, and both work fine so far, never had any its fall down anywhere inside... LOL... smFh

Interesting that the same model is slightly different, I have two and the locking ring for the shaft is black, not the silver/chrome like yours. Did you get yours as a single unit or combo? I never did try to put standard bits on the carousel, that's a massive failure on Klein's part.
@MattHmm-rq6dnАй бұрын
Thata a good point they may have cheaped out for a holiday promo combo set. We all know they do it on power tool combo kits (steel vs magnesium shoes on circ saws).
@miles13242Ай бұрын
Looking back at old KZbin video reviews, it looks like older videos greater than 2 years have the chrome locking ring model and newer videos being less than 2 years old have the black locking ring. Looks like the reason they went with smaller proprietary bits was so that when stored in the handle the overall length of their stubby would be shorter than the competition's.
@MattHmm-rq6dnАй бұрын
I'm glad there's a look or feature that can pinpoint a old vs new one. I don't know if i even have the bit holder anymore replaced it with a shorty single flip socket.
@hustlin1ninjaАй бұрын
Same issue with mine. And my grips are coming loose on all my klein tools.
@TutorMysticАй бұрын
I have the same one, but mine has a slightly different issue. The bits are held in so tight you need a pair of needle nose pliers to remove them.
@gnic76Ай бұрын
I bought one almost a year ago, it has a black shaft retainer rather than silver, I haven't had any issues with it. Seems Klein has a quality control issue at their factories.
@toolsandtacticsАй бұрын
Yeah man, it's like they don't even inspect them before they box them up!
@MattHmm-rq6dnАй бұрын
I got mine out and check it thanks. Mine didn't pop out as far as that just that first stop. All the stock bits come in and out reasonable well. I dont see how mine could pop up far enough to be an issue. To be fair mine only has a year ish of use and is when they first came out years old sold at platt electric not lowes or hd. Maybe there some quality control that we know klein is getting towards these days when they invaded that blue store. Or maybe I didn't reef on the back of mine enough and used it in a reasonable manor who knows (not saying you abused it).
@duncdunc76Ай бұрын
Yep, got one of these and was like, how the heck do you get these bits out with normal sized fingers. And the handle not being able to store standard sized bits instead of the proprietary sized shorter then standard bits is Stupid! I got this in the 2pc set at lowes for $29.99 and the larger screwdriver is better. At least you can swap out standard bits in the handle with it. But I agree whoever designed the stubby needs some on the job training with tools. Or the sign off person thinking it was great to make trades people have to buy replacement proprietary bits needs a swift kick right out of the company.

Why do I need a multi but stubby? Who the hell needs a torx bit in a small area? 😂 How screwed am I that I need a bit other than a flathead or philips in a dmall confined space that I cant use my full screwdriver on.
@treywilson234Ай бұрын
I’ve had mine for a little over a year and it’s done the same thing to me a couple of times. If I’m changing bits out I use some needle nose. Yeah it’s a shit design, I’m gonna get a different one.
@INFRNL1Ай бұрын
I got this as the kit with the standard length one. I thought they would be cool as you can adjust the length. They are POS's They should have made them with the double ended bits. these tiny bits are near impossible to get out and if you lose a bit; you can't replace it. I'd also prefer the handle to be the standard diameter. my 15 in 1 impact ratchet driver has the same dia handle, i also noticed one of the plastic bit holder tabs broke somehow. disappointing probably can't even give these away
@Big_Joe917Ай бұрын
You have problems with the standard length one too? I heard about the tiny bits in the stubby and decided to go with PB Swiss, but am still planning on getting the 14-in-1 full length from Klein
@INFRNL1Ай бұрын
@ It's way better than the stubby and has a double layer carousel. The 14 in 1 uses standard size bits. No issues, i just like the impact ratchet version better, but you lose the adjustable length
@toolsandtacticsАй бұрын
I agree, it's tough to get those bits out and I see why you think that handle is too small. The whole thing is not usable
@chrisdaviddunn3012Ай бұрын
