i was there with my gf , nice place , just people always offering hash or weed and was annoying but better than in Tangier or other places, best place in Morocco so far , villages in south near Agadir ....i should do more hiking around Chefchauen next time , I went for a good hike in Akhour the big waterfall near by , that was sick.

You've got it all wrong my friend. While jews indeed live in Morocco, this has been the case for thousands of years, And yes Morocco protected Moroccan Jews from the Nazis. But they do not specifically live in Chefchaouen. So the blue color has nothing to do with jewish culture. It was a relatively new decision from city officials (few decades) and nobody really knows for sure why they picked this color. So while all the talk about jews being protected in Morocco is true, it has nothing to do with the color. All we know is that it works repelling Mosquitoes, it brings joy and beauty and yes, tourists as well.
