How to 2018-2022 Sea-Doo RXT X 300 Oil Change, Annual Maintenance, Winterization S2E22

In this video we use a 2020 Sea Doo RXT-X 300 to perform regular maintenance and winterization.

Hey guys I followed your directions to a T on the oil change .I ended up having to use all of the oil in the kit and find the oil a little low on the dipstick

Take it out for a ride and test it again. Oil should be in the middle of the dip stick marker. I used all my oil once and the engine run very rough.

I love it, you guys are doing a great job. Be careful not to run the engine with the hose more than two minutes. There are other components that need to be cooled that the hose does not supply water to. I'm too lazy to mess with the injectors for annual winterization. I add Sea Foam on the regular to the fuel tank and a little more at the end of the year, it will lubricate keeping the injectors from clean and clear of clogs.

Great thorough video for oil changing and winterizing. That oil looked a lot more evil coming out of the hose than it did on the end of the dipstick; after you commented that it did not look that bad. A little scary to watch a 5 minute run on a trailer though, and several others have voiced similar comments. Mentioned several times in the owners manual not to exceed 2 minutes due to carbon seal damage. Not keen about putting the used, oil covered O-rings on that nice rear deck, but it's your machine ;-) You mentioned 'filling up the battery' before putting it away on the battery manintainer charger, but aren't you using a maintenance free battery in your machine? They should never be opened. You guys are to be commended for taking the time to post helpful videos so that others can get comfortable doing their own basic maintenance. Other than my nit-picking, just grab yourselves some throw-away nitrile gloves and keep up the great stuff!

Question: So you say you ran this for about 5 minutes on the hose...isn't that bad for the carbon seal? Doesn't the owners manual and sticker on the back of the ski strictly state "Do NOT run the ski more than 2 minutes out of the water"? This is because running it on the hose does not supply the carbon seal with water which will burn up the carbon seal.

Good question, I've been doing it like this since I got mime in 2018. If you have some data regarding the carbon seal would be greatly appreciated. Carbon seal is a bearing wrapped in a rubber seal, can't see that playing a roll running it out of water. Keeping the exhaust system cool is the important part.

@@adventurechannelcanada Good way to cook your carbon seal and sink the ski. It's stated numerous times in the owners manual, "- Never run engine longer than 2 minutes. Drive line seal has no cooling when watercraft is out of water."

Your are supposed to run it on the hose 90 seconds , stop let cool 5 mins, repeat 90 seconds , suck the oil, then do the 10 seconds drown mode (start+hold throttle) then suck , then do that again 2 more times. That fully gets the oil out.

Correct. Don't run it for 5 min - I made a mistake, the cabin seal could heat up the rubber seal too much and cause issues.

Great episode guys. I just was wondering why you didn’t take the spark plugs off first . So you could turn the motor on to drain the extra oil . I would of thought it would turn over a lot easier. 😃👍🇦🇺🇺🇸 take care.

Don’t run the engine more than 30 seconds. Open the cap when draining.

When I pumped oil out of my 2022 Fish Pro and 2023 GTI SE, I got OVER 4 quarts out of each. I put 4 quarts plus a bit more back in. I'll have to put them in the lake next spring, warm them up and check the levels. I hope they are close to right. Overfilling is bad, I hear.

My first oil change I used more then 4 quarts and my sea doo idling rough - removed some to and that fixed it.

How many seconds did u spray fogging oil into injector rail?. Also I notice you didn't fog cylinders.

I counted for 3 seconds. I believe their are many ways to fog your engine, this is one way. Sometimes I spray into the spark plugs but in this video I forgot and went into the injectors instead.

Great point and we do have them but haven't had the time to install it. I'm assuming you have a 300 and you installed all the goodies, be careful not to over fill your next oil change or all the oil will come pouring out of the catch can causing a mess - maybe this is why they never installed them at the factory...hmmm

Question: do you have to pay monthly or yearly to have access to the candoo program to reset the oil life on your sea doo? Or you just buy it and it comes with it? I have a pair of sea doo rxt x and I do my own service every season but I get a beep sound that needs service because I haven't reset it when I service them. Also where do I buy the candoo? Thanks..

Hi Jose, yeah you have to pay annual membership which I haven't' paid yet so I'm not sure how much it will cost me this year. I'm hoping it will be nominal.

You don't have to pay any annual dues but if you want SW and FW updates then its required. I did the updates and it was $40.

I would start with 2 quart, which is approximately 0.946 liters per quart. Take it for a ride and add as needed. The reason is you never remove the exact amount and in so you would have to do this way.

Helloo quick question. I placed my deposit for both 2022’s Yamaha svho and gtx limited 300… I’m gonna be in Miami fl mostly in intercoastal, sandbars and sometimes open ocean. Ski will be kept on a lift. Which would you recommend? Looks and tech wise I like seadoo reliability Yamaha from what I’ve hearing. Let me know ur thoughts. Thanks

My buddy and I had the same dilemma and we both eventually went with the Sea Doo GTX/RXT product from 2018 and up, mostly because the storage, looks, ST3 hull for choppy waters and link system for extra gas, cooler, etc. Japan made products are always better built then Mexico products!!

Thanks for watching. I don't think there is another way. I see that Riva has something as well but everything at a cost. The other option is to have the dealer reset it for you.

I have a 2019 RXTX 300. They describe how to do the maintenance reset on page 60 of the owners manual. Does not seem to be very difficult to do.

How many ounces would the small 4th oil container be? You mentioned it was a 1/4 , would that mean 8 ounces? Thank you!

Hello, the smaller container is a 1 Quart Bottle (32 ounces).

Hi Brandon, for the 170 engine its every 2 years or 200 hrs. of operation whichever comes first.

Trust me... I have over 600 hours riding 4 tec seadoos. Change your spark plugs at least once per year or every 50 hours.

I actually ran for two minutes and everything fine. But you're right its not good running it long - heats up very fast and starts melting the rubber ring.
