Solved my problem; thank you. I purchased a P4P and immediately experienced a video down-link issue from the drone to the iPad mini monitor. The monitor would start pix-elating and the screen would turn green and black at random. When this was happening the telemetry on the monitor would stop working, making it a little scary to keep flying. I tried everything including changing flying locations, cable between controller and monitor, settings, frequencies, monitors, just to name a few but nothing solved the problem. I finally sent the drone back to DJI for repair and they replaced the main camera board, test flew it and sent it back. On the first flight I experienced the exact same problem with the new drone. At that point I called DJI and they said it was potentially a firmware problem and that the next firmware release should solve it. I agreed with this and decided to wait for the new firmware while at the same time continuing to try to solve the problem myself. I read about the 32 channel hack on a couple of forums and then I watched your video on how to do it. You did an outstanding job on explaining how to do it and also how to undo it if you decide to later. Well, I installed it and it worked perfectly on the first flight. I had a perfectly clear video at all times. I also noticed that when you set the channel in the DJI go4 app the setting will then carry over to the litchi app. Thanks so much for such an articulated video.

Hi! Very interesting video, thanks! I was wondering something. If you expand to the 32 channels and let´s say you pick #5 because it seems to be solid. Can it suddenly change? Or will it remain the same? And if it loses signal from that channel then it will RTH? Or what happens? Hope is not a dumb question but I have no idea about channels or frequencies etc... Thanks!

good video bud, i've done this for my p3 pro but had to change the region to usa from the UK on ipad mini 2 wifi/cellular to have the extra channels enabled. Also the extra channels are only available in custom mode and not auto from what i can see,shame as i would have liked all 32 channels to be available in auto mode and then let the app select a quieter channel if needed when flying but no biggy i'l'l just use the custom mode I'm not familiar to identifying quiet/clear channels so i'm presuming all the channels (20-32 in my case) that have no lines/interference indicators are the quiet/clear ones ? as the stock 13-20 all of them are busy/unstable etc.just unsure how to identify and choose a quiet/clear channel. thanks in advance for taling the time to reply. Hey Rick question for you. After making the config files changes and you now have the "hacked" config file version. Can you make custom channel changes IN Flight? After reading through comments, it appears that you need to know the channel you want before taking fight. But I didn't see anything is the comments that refer to Mid-Air custom channel changes. Also, if you are able to make mid-air custom changes. Does this effect the video transmission ONLY and NOT the RC controller transmission. (just curious) Any feedback on this, would be great!

Great video! I was wondering, could you do something similar with the Phantom 3 Standard? I fly with Litchi and can manually select 8 channels, would doing this modification open up 32?

This mod is applied to the DJI Go application so it should work the same for the P3S. Once you apply the config file and reboot the application you will see a full 32 channels on the controller. Let me know if you have any other questions and thanks for watching.

Just an FYI, these updates are only for Video Transmission , this update does not effect the RC control of the aircraft . You will NOT loose control if you have interference on the Custom channel . Donald, Thanks foe posting this and you're correct. I did the clip a while back before I had the complete listing of frequencies. I had a lot of questions from other pilots on how to do the update and wanted to get the clip done showing the process. I did a little digging after the clip was posted and what frequencies were affected and couldn't update the clip without deleting it and re-posting. Hey i wanted to comment on the title of your channel. i understand that maybe in the future there will be more videos on other drones, it seems that this is a DJI channel. The title is a bit misleading however, i do give you props for your overall video/audio quality. Continue what your doing just thought i would comment, since i was on the fence to subscribe. i get that right now maybe all you have is the phantom but, mixing it up like you did before with your topics that weren't DJI specific is good.

Hi When I look for the DJI Go pilot folder it isn't there? In android folder It says dji.go.v4 and inside is the folder marked files. I put the hack into there but no difference. Does this also work with the DJI Phantom 3 Standard? In the DJI Go App i don't have any settings for selecting the transmission channel. So if i apply the configuration file does this also enable 32 channels for my drone? Does it automatically search for the best channel within the 32 channels insead of the default 8?

This should work on all versions of the Phantom 3 and Phantom 4. Remember to restart both the controller and the application once you've done the upgrade to be able to see the new channels. Rick

Will this work on my Inspire 1Pro also? I am having problems with Signal loss when on a large yacht and 5miles offshore. Im not having problems with smaller vessels, just the ones with lots of Radar.. I installed the file into the root, but it did not work and concerned it will overwrite old file and not being able to bring back as I'm not sure where to find the old file. It should help on the Inspire as well. I would also suggest a small range extender for the controller. A simple parabolic model (tinyurl.com/jbhy2bu) would help too. Can you tell me why I do not show a large scale bar graph on my channel strength under the HD tab on the DJI GO app? My channels read out with just a tiny speck of light. I have no way of knowing which channel has the greater strength. I have seen this effect on other peoples videos but I have also seen the full range signals showing on other peoples videos. I am using an ACER 10 tablet and have NO OTHER issues other than this. I have re D/Led the app twice-no difference, I have looked through all settings for a possible solution but found none. I do have ARGtek antennas and 32 channels but this was happening before I made the mod. Does anyone have a hint as to why this is happening?

Drone Valley, are you still responding to the comments below? I know it's an old video. But to some of us, we're not always up to date with brand new. We have to wait years down the road in order to afford what once sold for a $1000, recently got a used Phantom and are "now" new to phantoms. Anyway, my question(s). You seem to stress "be careful" on the channel you're on, since it doesn't scan. What does happen if you cross into a frequency on the channel you're using? Will you loose video feed, and/or worse, loose the drone? Also, if your channel does go bad all of a sudden, and start to panic. Can you just click on the HD, then select auto scan? And/or, select a different channel, and regain your operations?

Rick I successfully completed the download file for my android and got all the new channels. I am having issues with my ipad. I have it hooked up to my computer to transfer the file but I can't seem to open that ITunes you had open to find the DJI go app file. I have an ASUS computer. I see the IPAD on my files , I open the internal storage and nothing but pictures come up. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again for all the help. It works perfectly with my iPhoneX iOS11.2 and DJI 4.1.12 Phantom 4. 4.1.12 is the last version that can be hacked this way. Later versions, e.g. 4.1.18 do not even use .DJI.configs file for settings. And Auto channel selection can also be enabled for higher channels. Excellent!!!! If you don't have a backed up low version of DJI app with iTunes, simply give up

Hi, first, I want to thank you for the video and a great one at that. However, I did everything exact for the IOS/iTunes. I downloaded the DJI config file, dropped it in the DJI go app, and I still have the stock channels. I tried both the uncompressed and compressed file you provided and I still get nothing. Could it have anything to do with the updates after the video had been made both for the app and as well as iTunes? My device is a IPhone and I am using a Hp computer to access ITunes.

Julian, thanks for the post and I did this clip a few year back and unfortunately DJI has closed this door since them with firmware updates so I'm not sure it's working on the latest firmware. You might be able to back-rev the firmware to get it working but I honestly haven;t tested it with the newer versions to know if it works. I appreciate you posting and hope you'll stop back soon. Rick, That’s what I was afraid of with all the updates in between your video. I don’t know why they would block that and/or didn’t allow it to have that many channels stock. Who knows, maybe it interferes with something government. Now I sound crazy, but with being a vet, with a secret security clearance, there’s a lot we don’t know in the civilian world. Hello! You have great content, and I am subscribing! This might be out of topic, I am having problem with image transmission to the craft. I have a DJI phantom3, everything works and I can complete control the craft but no "image transmission signal" or "no signal" on the app.

Thanks for the post and subscribing. I'll try and help you figure out the issue. What model of Phantom are you flying? The P3 Standard, Advanced or Professional? Also, have you done the upgrade hack or are you running the standard application. Lastly, what device are you using with the controller, smartphone or tablet? I have had a few friends use a tablet that wasn't supported with the Phantom and it worked fine for controlling the quad but had a hard time keeping up with the video feed. Let me know if this is a problem that just started happening or has it never worked. I know that's a lot of questions but the answers will help us sort this out. Thanks, Rick

I've done the hack before and has been working fine since, lately (I have been researching for a fix for weeks now..) for some reason it started acting up, no video feed whatsoever. The last thing I did was update the app before the no video signal happened.

Great, thanks for the info. Here's what I suggest - uninstall the DJI Go application from your iPad, reboot it and then reinstall it without the hack. If that works, reapply the hack and see if it still works. That will reset everything and may sort out the problem for you. Good luck and let me know how you make out. Rick

I had a user send me an email yesterday that did the update on the latest iOS and DJI Go application so I'm sure you can still use the update. I would suggest deleting the application and re-installing it to see if that helps. I would also try a different phone or tablet to test and see if it works there temporarily. FYI for those having issues check the name of the file after you save it. In my case the name was changed to DJI.configs when it needs to be .DJI.configs

Thanks for posting that. If you're updating from a Windows machine you can download the compressed version of the file and once unzipped it will be in the correct format. Check the comments for the additional steps needed for iOS.

Drone Valley -Yea I used the uncompressed and there is nothing wrong with the file and it is correct with the period at the beginning but Windows 8.1 just did not like that and on saving kept removing the period.

I dont think this works for the P3 standard, i dont have the "HD" page in the options menu, perhaps the european models have that option disabled?

You may be right on that because the P3 Standard doesn't use the LightBridge technology. I don't have a way to test it on the standard at present but will check with a few pilots I fly with to see if the modification works on their P3 Standards. Since i upgraded my ipad air to the IOS 10 i have a lot of lag and interuptions on my video connection. So i installed the app, but i cannot select custom, the button does not react ... any idea ...

Lag is usually caused by either a week signal from the quad (very noisy area) or by the processor in the tablet not being fast enough to process the video feed. The first thing I would try would be to either reboot the tablet to clear any open apps or close everything but the DJI Go app when flying the quad. If this doesn't help it could be a signal issue and you can help that by adding a set of parabolic signal boosters or upgrading to an ARGtek kit. I'm not sure why the manual selection isn't working on your controller, you may want to reinstall the app and apply the mod again to see if it helps. I'm using an iPad mini 4 and its working great.

Thanks for the post and I'm sorry you're having issues. GIve me a little more information on what PC you're using to push the new config file to the App. Is it a Windows or Mac? The procedure is slightly different for the two systems.

+Drone Valley thank you so much! I tried it from my Imac via Itunes. And I tried it on my Galaxy S4 from a PC. Didnt work either. Tried it on my lenovo tab from a PC wich actually worked. However I can use it to fly since the image is lagging all the time. Any idea why that is? Thanks again!

Nope, this hack was just for the Phantom so you could use the antenna mod and take advantage of the additional frequencies. Rick

If you update the DJI Go app (and sometimes iOS) you have to reapply the .configs file like you did the first time. A refresh of the application clears out that file on installation. Give that a try, reboot and you should be good to got. Rick

What is the best combination in the Phantom 3 Pro? Within reach? In terms of stability? And without restrictions? and without geofencing (no-fly zones)? ^^ My best one is: Android: App GO 2.4.3 RC: 1.5.80 Firmware: V. 1.3.20 Is there any better? ^^ Incidentally, the 32 channel hack with app GO 2.4.3 does not work!

The P3 4K works on a different frequency than the P3A, P3P and P4. This extender is designed for transmitters in the 2.400 GHz to 2.483 GHz range. The P3 4K uses 5.725 GHz - 5.825 GHz so the antenna are tuned wrong for this spectrum. You could try one of the passive reflectors to help with distance. I'll check with ARGtek to see if they make a kit for the P3 4K. Thanks for the question and be sure to sub the channel so you don't miss anything.

Mac and Windows react differently to this type of config file. If you're on a Windows machine, download the compressed file and unzip it on your PC before adding it to the DJI Go application. If you're using a Mac, it's a little trickier and there are instructions in the description of this clip that will walk you through it. Isn't this highly illegal in the USA? Only 2400-2484 MHz is allocated for unlicensed use, and putting the transmitter/drone into 32 channel mode pushes the frequency range used well past those boundaries (2275-2607 MHz). That's why only those twelve channels are enabled by default, to make sure it is in compliance.

I'm using an Apple iPad Air and have tried 3 times to add the extra channels with no luck, I have the Phantom 3 Pro. I have even deleted and reinstalled the app but still nothing. What can I be doing wrong???

It's a little trickier on an iPad than on an Android because the iOS strips off the leading "." on the file. Check the comments section for a special procedure for adding the leading "."back onto the file so the app recognizes it as a config file. Let me know how you make out and be sure to sub the channel.
