If you are looking for a good set of materials for your projects then the AMD GPU Open MTLX library is a good start. This video shows how to access the AMD GPU Open MTLX library in Houdini 20.

The new new MaterialX PBR Texture Set also makes it easier to pull in a bunch of PBR textures using a single node.

Inside the subnet and among all those bunch of nodes is another subnet node which contains all the textures being used as well as the uv placement.

Interesting. Good to know. I didnt really dive in and look to heavily at any of the materials but something like UV's should be a readily available parameter for tiling imo

I wish it didn't require the extra steps and was available from the material parameters but it works. Glad you found it useful

Thats good. I'll be going over more Solaris/Karma/MaterialX in the future so stay tuned for that if you need some extra help there.

6:30 That's not houdini's fault, the setup is sub-optimal in the MaterialX file itself, at the source, in this case. UVTiling there would have been exposed as a parameter of the sub-graph, if it was a MaterialX node of type 'input' instead of 'constant' - whoever authored that MaterialX file either didn't want or care to expose that.

I'm so disappointed in Karma, it's too slow. I have 4090, Redshift is like Ferrari compared to Karma XPU.

I havent had the chance to really give it a good test but I haven heard a lot of people say quite the opposite. There are a lot of new things that weren't available to xpu before. I would make sure that the settings aren't calculating something you don't need
