I have noticed more than any other specialty how different radiology are on the phone and in person.When I call them up I get my head bitten off for an inadequate order etc etc even if they do eventually protocol the scan, but on the occasions where I have ventured into their lair to discuss a case in person they could not have been more friendly and helpful. I can only assume that living in the dark has given them very sensitive hearing and the phone is excruciating for them. If you have time I always recommend going to see them in the reporting room, just be sure to whisper. Oh and you often get a biscuit as well while you are there.

@itsonlyafleshwound90242 жыл бұрын
@@Mr.Ambrose_Dyer_Armitage_Esq. Your reply annoyed me enough to care, so read this carefully: When you created your account, you made a mistake. You chose a name that is unique enough to be easily googled. I did so, trying to determine if you were just a troll, or if you actually believe what you wrote here. You dont act like a troll. Trolls dont write heartfilled comments about their fathers passing and their own feelings of inadequacy. The things you write, in comments, in your channel description, they are real, they are serious. So im going to treat you seriously, like the father you lost far to early in your life (im sorry). This is your wake up call. Your life, no matter how good or bad you think it is now, will get worse. Your cats will die. Your employment, if you can keep it, will not pay your bills. Your health will get worse, and you will lack the tools to prevent that. You will remain alone, and with every day it will be less bearable. At this moment, there is nothing in your future but pain and misery. And there is only one person who can prevent that, or even just mitigate it. You. You will not be able to do so by belitling people who have done more in their life then you have in yours. You will not be able to do so by following the philosophy of people who believe that unless you are genetically gifted, you might as well give up by default. The only way you can do this is by taking real, actual steps to improve: first yourself, then your situation. You can make the first of these steps tomorrow, just after you wake up. Find a mirror, or any surface that reflects your face, and look yourself in the eyes. Ask yourself: "Is this who I really am?" "Is this who I really want to be?" and "Is this really who I want to be, forever?". Be truthfull with yourself, there is no point lying, you know the answers, you can detect your own bullshit. If you answer: "No." to any of these questions, you have taken the first step. The next one is the hard one: Work. Aquire the skills and education you need to maintain and improve your life. Job skills and education for your work. Social skills to find friends. When you start to do that, especially if you do it entirely on your own, you will fail most of the time. But you will not fail every time. If you fail every time, continue, your success will come. One victory gives confidence, the knowledge that success is possible. This leads to further victories. Eventually, you will be able to succeed in gaining the certificates that prove your qualifications. Meanwhile your social skills will allow you to make friends. Notice that I specifically mention friends. Friends are the bedrock of social relationships, especially if your family is not available. They also provide a buffer, a parachute for the deep falls that can happen in anyones life. Friends keep you sane. Friends help you succeed. Once you have reached that point of relative stability, you will find that all the other challenges you face, all the other goals you have, start to seem a lot more possible. I know you may think that this is just some inspirational bullshit written by some idiot on the internet. But I know who you are. I know who you are because I was once just like you. I watched all the sceptics, I had strong opinions about games journalism, and I also had no direction in life. I was almost completely socially isolated for three years. I was studying a subject that gave me no future, playing games and watching videos all day, every day. And it made me miserable. And one day, I did what I described above and, very slowly, my life improved. Today, I have multiple very close friends, as well as quite a few less close ones. I study a subject that will guarantee me employment, and in a few years time, I will have a leading position in an (admittedly quite small) company. I am a lot more happy then I was back then when I was in that hole, and I am actually cautiously hopefull for the future. If I could dig myself out of this, you can too. If you still think this is bullshit, or if you hate me for trying to preach to you, here is a simple challenge: Beat me. Improve your life out of spite for that asshole with the monty python reference in his online persona. Show me that you can have a better, happier life then I do. No matter what you decide, I wish you good luck. I hope it is not wasted on you.

Radiologists are great. I was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta and have had 133 fractures so I figure I’ve had at least 350+ X-rays and CTs in my day. 😮

Hottest tip I can offer after over a decade working in acute and subspecialty surgery... When you call them to get your emergency imaging and they pick up the phone, open with this... "I'm just seeing an emergency patient and I wonder if you could help me identify what modality of imaging might be best to diagnose the issue" I've never failed to get them totally on board with the study I wanted initially

My partner recently had a thyroid biopsy done by a radiologist. He was wearing jeans and a hoodie, and the pathologist was in joggers. Both were so fun to interact with.

I don't know what's funnier, the entire skit or the reflection of him on his sunglasses filming himself.

I almost went pre-med/radiology because I found out they only work 14 hours a week and never have to deal directly with patients. Since I hate people even more than that, I went to law school instead.

As a radiologist my favorite part of this was the small sunglasses. Nonspecific is one of my favorite as is correlate with physical exam. Also as the ER orders more inappropriate CTs I make sure to let them know how big patient stool balls are….physical exam recommended to determine the need for manual disimpaction
