The reason the henna faded so fast was because she applied oil prior to applying the henna. The oil created a barrier for the henna to deeply stain her skin. As a henna artist I suggest applying Henna after paste remova.

Just a little tip tho for when you take it off, you can use olive oil to just preserve it. My grandma used to do that for me and my henna would last up to two weeks!

You shouldnt exfoliate your skin at least for 48 hours before you apply henna. And you should clean your skin with just micellar water to take the natural oils off your skin before you apply henna. With these recomendations the henna freckles should last more. Loved the way your’s turn out, they look so natural! :)

I do henna on my hands a lot cause I’m Indian. Usually when the henna is applied as a thin layer it’s lighter in Colour and fades off faster especially since you wash your face daily. But if you put a thicker dot it should be a darker colour and last longer

I’m in highschool now, but in elementary my art teacher would bring REAL henna, and she would do designs on our hands and leave it on for the period, or until the end of the day since it was our 2nd to last period. And it lasted us like 2-3 weeks. I don’t see how having this type of henna all night only lasted 3 days

So i have a naturally oily face and i wash my face every day and have a pretty extensive moisturizing routine. I also exfoliate my face on an as-needed basis. All these things combined will result in henna not lasting as long. I’ve used henna on my arms and hands before and it’s always lasted longer there than on my face. I think the skin on my face is just different than other parts of my body (but i’m not a scientist so idk lol)

The kind of henna used for faux freckles is different to the kind typically used for hands/body! The effect is meant to be much more subtle and doesn't last as long.

I think I used cheap henna, mostly cause it stings my face. And when I removed it, the henna obviously then being orange, that's why I didn't leave mine on for an hour, cause the longer I keep it on the more orange it would get. So I waited till it tried, and removed. Took like 10mins. And it looks alright tbh. I look good. It's a bit strong in colour but it can look natural. So ig I got lucky. But definitely won't be doing it again until I get a safe henna to use. Thanks for leaving link
