The concept of Hidden Time Wealth blew my mind. It’s like finding a cheat code for productivity and defeating procrastination.
@MonikaD________l4 ай бұрын
I needed this. 2 points. Actually 3. 1. Be humble enough to look at your own faults, even the faults you are in love with. 2. Reduce the distance between your ideal and the current state, so that you can move forwards, to at least start doing so. 3. It's not a linear path, Honey. The start is hard, but the way has your back. Be open and hopeful to pleasant surprises. Please feel free to add to this here.

DUDDDDEEE this is so fkin valuable. I know exactly what I gotta do after this, I gotta lower my ideal as it is creating resistance which I don't want. I'm struggling with the fear of failure against my ideal, which I can't reach as I don't have the tools to reach that at my current level. It paralyzes me. Jordan Peterson did two things from his explanation of exponential growth curve. 1. decreased my fear of failure as even though my small increments are shameful, it's still progress. 2. solved the issue of my uncertainty as even though small increments don't show fast results, I can still be certain that the compounded outcome would be exponential growth.

I can proove it. We should always study, be persistant and act in balance between good analysis and risk. People should know that everything is possible and we always have a choice. @WijnandBeukema11 ай бұрын
@TheChrisReece Hi Chris, You fail to se my point. Fun to me is not pointless and limitless hedonism, just the fun and satisfaction of for instance Ronaldo felt playing soccer say 30 years ago with his childhood mates. I saw a lot of videos by JP and he always fails to mention this joy. Listening to him it is all about hard work, sacrifice, discipline and being conscientious. There is a huge lack in that: "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy!" Of course best policy always is put a little work into the play and vice versa....
@eightpercentdisciple8 ай бұрын
In his lectures he talks about finding the balance of responsibility and reward; in one example asking students to think about the balance of studying time vs time spent playing video games. Essentially taking on the right amount of responsibility and then rewarding yourself. Then doing it again.

Thanks for honoring my freedom of speech. My most ambitious goal came about after believing for 70 years that the universe was created ... to change my system of belief to the scientific theory that in one form or another, the universe and energy always existed ... no creator ... no plan ... and to believe that suffering of all forms of life ... is natural. If people believe they can't be moral unless they have religion in their lives ... that is a sad statement about the mentality of humans in general. It's as though you are saying ... "I can't be moral unless I fear that a god is going to punish me if I'm not moral." I am almost 85 years of age now ... and I believe that if I treat each situation with as much kindness as it deserves ... I can't DO better than my best ... and "let the chips fall where they may." “Since the masses of the people are inconstant, full of unruly desires, passionate, and reckless of consequences, they must be filled with fears to keep them in order. The ancients did well, therefore, to invent gods, and the belief in punishment after death.” Roman historian, Polybius.

But the real problem is, once we get to know about our stupidy, our weaknesses, our lack of knowledge about the world and opportunities in it we directly go down to severe depression and hopeless zone. Atleast that's what happening to me if not with others. Once we realise our own condition we get directly into depression.

I think that Berlin guy did not understand Stoicism and should have coined a different phrase. The stoics Inner Citadel was not an invitation to bend over and accept defeat. It was more like a tranquil garden one could visit within themselves to attain peace and clarity, not to run and hide from external situations, but to find stillness in order to gather the strength and resolve to handle the external situations with courage and wisdom.
