✨You're more powerful than you think. A deep dive revealing the TRUTH behind my mindset for success.
My main channel: / wamyy5
// Quote from James Clear I saw on May 1, 2024 that I found such a coincidence to my thoughts in this video:
"People can help you in many ways throughout life, but there are two things nobody can give you: curiosity and drive. They must be self-supplied.
If you are not interested and curious, all the information in the world can be at your fingertips, but it will be relatively useless. If you are not motivated and driven, whatever connections or opportunities are available to you will be rendered inert.
Now, you won't feel curious and driven about every area of life, and that's fine. But it really pays to find something that lights you up. This is one of the primary quests of life: to find the thing that ignites your curiosity and drive.
There are many recipes for success. There is no single way to win. But nearly all recipes include two ingredients: curiosity and drive."

i have been living in low mood, no desire to do anything for almost 2 years. I've learnt a lot about managing feeling , motivation etc, watching endless "psychology hacks, etc". your video concludes everything i ALREADY knew. SOMEHOW i still cannot move a needle, but i feel better everyday. thanks for your video.

Absolutely! It's spot-on! Many creators of such videos often emphasize motivation and systems, but the core reason behind it all is truly the driving force behind habit formation. It needs to resonate deeply because during our most challenging moments, it's our "why" that sustains us, especially when it springs from our innermost being.

Yeah.I used to be jealous of one of my besties who seems so smart to accomplish things effortlessly and make new friends constantly. She never doubts herself and often see things positively. But I often think it’s so unfair that I have to work ten times or even hundred times harder to get the same thing they already have. So I can’t help but look down upon myself and don’t even want you to try. But today, I learned that hard work might also be a natural gift. Just work hard step by step eventually I can get the things I want. If the only way to achieve the goal is work hard, then I get it. Work hard and i will be smarter

Points i learnt: 1. Your motivation should be intrinsic 2. Think of your 'why' when you struggle to choose between something productive and something unproductive 3. Put yourself in the shoes of someone who acheived their potential. Embody their characteristics (the hard work they put in), instead of beig motivated by them. 9:21 4. You have to believe you can do anything you set your mind to

I don't know exactly how to describe this feeling but sharing your experience Amy about trying hard to get the title of Valedictorian touches something in me. I guess I'm just happy you didn't let the opinion of other people stop you from achieving your goal. I can really relate about not being a natural genius or smart, I'm just someone who works hard as well to be at the top. Sadly, in highschool I got affected by what they say, and I don't know how to handle it. It feels like I have make way or stand along the audiences in a marathon when I myself is a marathoner. At the end, I guess hearing it most of the time made me believed them. It's hard because even the mentors are saying the same thing. 😢 That's why, unlike me, I was really happy that someone like you who went thru the same thing didn't gave in to those words. I wish I didn't but I'm glad you didn't. That comforts me I guess. Thank you for sharing Amy. ❤

I wanted to also say that im prone to binge scrolling through KZbin and other social media, but at least i am becoming self aware of that particular habit, and whenever i feel like im on social media too much; i usually like to sketch/draw and look up new recipes to cook/bake. It might seem silly, although at least they're tasks that are constructive and encourage accomplishment ;)

I like this channel so much. You could definitely be a coach. I would pay money. Usually I watch videos with no regard as to how many followers they have. Thank you for this podcast 💓 it has been mindblowing and it clarifies things I've had in my mind 🤯I do want to ask you something... if you worked so so so so so hard to be a valedictorian and be a good student to go to a good college, did you have like, an identity crisis when ivy league schools didn't accept you? I ask you because I feel like I'm having one. I planned my whole professional life like "to be a therapist study psychology, graduate, choose a specialty, do a master's in that, and THEN you can give therapy" but it hasn't been what I expected so I don't even know if I want to be one, and it has shaken my whole world. Sending you lots of hugs

Hi Amy, just wanted to say this was a really great and refreshing perspective, as ive really been working on motivating myself to do all the things i need to in order to be fulfilled and have a meaningful purpose. However, i really liked how you described the interchangeable aspects (im assuming) of motivation and discipline within the realm of having a true purpose as i probably already mentioned. But case in point; its up to us as individuals to want to be of value and not just a servant to what our biases tell us otherwise. It might seem arbitrary, but that is how we as people will be able to understand what makes us feel worthy.

okay so it kind of got out of hand and now i have this rant feel free to read the rest if you want but were I wanted to go with this rant was can you make a video about the trauma that we got growing up cause of yk bad parents who actually did their best and how to work hard despite it. I now I'm in the middle of feeling like I'm an ungrateful little wrench and resentment toward my parents cause of the abuse they gave me (the next long paragraphs are just reasons I thought of to actually study that are related to my life) okay in relation to trauma , right now I haven't yet finished this video but I have finished another one the one called "this video will make you want to work hard" , because of it I realized how ungrateful I've been acting towards my parents because of the trauma my dad gave to me and how my mother was so chill about it , i realized that my aunts who ended up leaving their husbands because they were starting to get abusive toward them and their children have worked hard in school which gave them the confidence to be able to leave their husbands and provide for their children on their own , now knowing all of this that's just a thing of its own to make me want to work hard , cause my mother didn't work hard in school which made her not be able to marry the best person cause her background was that she was basically 1 girl out of 7 children and they all lived in a 3 bedroom house (2 for the kids and one for my grandparents and one of the kids room was just for 2 boys so they were basically 5 in the same room) from what I know since they've been born they were in very small houses like this and so her family's background wasn't the best but compared to my father's background she has leveled to a better environment so I've for the longest time resented her and I think I still do for not leaving my dad when he first shown signs of abuse when I was still just a few months old infant. but knowing though relation doesn't equal causation thinking about it , its so related (how hard you studied and who your later on partner is and how your relationship with them and your children is like later on in life) like i have an uncle he didn't do his best in highschool so he later on took a degree that he didn't want cause of his grades (we got public college so most people go through college its got a small fee though something I'm grateful of now however degrees are basically depended on your grades so if you got 91.5% you can go into engineering but if you get less than that you cant go into engineering and you have to take a lesser degree) and so that uncle i told you about he married his wife which also got the same degree but was abit more studious and so from what i know their eldest daughter got abused and his wife got abused from him ,now thinking about it because my uncle is from a better background he was able to abuse her however because she studied more in general she's now lets just say a bit manipulative not in a bad way she just was able to intimidate him enough that he now is scared of her like how husbands in asian families or basically any type of family ig that's something beyond culture at this point are like that he now worked hard enough that his eldest daughter although didn't work hard enough in highschool he got her private education so she doesn't have to study something she really hates for 4 years and later on works in another field entirely like he and his wife had to do.

remember, being naturally smart means going through the struggle and studying... then convincing people that you didn't. And trying to convince other people even if they won its because of some "negative" quality their trying to dissociate from themselves. I think try hard (going hard at a skill) verses throwing people under the bus/ gossiping/ trying to manipulate people into failing or sucking up to others to win...are two different things. Just saying... going to that length to win really shows...they did eevrything in their power... so no... they tried pretty hard.

I am a student who recently moved to America, I am a junior in high school, I would really like to go to a UC university but I don't really know what to do with the collage application. . And by this I mean the 4 essays that we have to attach together with the application... I haven't really learned how to write a good essay so I don't want to risk doing something wrong also for the reason that this is my third language... I dream of being accepted to university and I want to achieve my dream but I don't know how to do this and I'm very afraid of not being accepted... please help me😢

COMPLETELY DISAGREE. I wrote this same comment in another video. I do think this person has good intentions, but her videos truly exemplifies the Dunning Kruger Effect. She has neither a background in psychology nor learning, but she feels very confident that she knows what she's talking about. I see this with tons of learning "experts". Although what she says here may sound true. And you may believe her because she's doing well in school, but her beliefs have no basis in modern science. We are mainly motivated by our relative status within our environment, and not by our status in wider society. So, even if we know that we are privileged, we won't feel that way if our immediate environment doesn't reflect that. This video is similar to books pushed by Robert Kiyosaki (Rich Dad, Poor Dad). It may make you feel good temporarily. It may motivate you to study for an hour, but your drive will soon evaporate, and you'll go back to your old routine. If you truly want to see a difference, you need to make systematic changes to your life. You need to consider that our brains or bodies are merely organic robots with specific programming. We are not rational. For example, we may want to jog every day because we know it's good for us, but we can't. We can't because of psychological constraints built into our DNA, which were set 10,000 years ago. If we jogged back then, we would have wasted valuable calories and quickly died off. Similarly, studying is a waste of calories to our primitive brain. You can't study because your brain thinks it's useless. If you want ideas on how to really learn how to study, you can message me. Although it's a bit self-serving as I'm a tutor/coach, I can truly show you real ways to effect change. *Btw, to figure out how to study, people need to stop listening to people who get As. It makes no sense if you give it some thought. It's similar to asking students who got into a top school about how to get into college. Some offer consulting services on how to get into college, and people pay them thousands. It's absurd. If you think about it, how would the newly accepted know? They aren't privy to the college application process. They have no basis of comparison. The people who you should actually consult are admissions officers who see hundreds of applications and actually make the decisions. Similarly, this person really doesn't know how she got good grades. Yes, it seems absurd to say this, but this is a big topic in psychology today. You really aren't in control of your brain/body. It may seem like you do, but you actually do things because you're preprogrammed to do so. You don't realize you're doing it because it's all automatic. She doesn't realize that what motivates her are the grades itself (as well as these videos).
