dude i loved this because I've been there from the beginning of my skateboard journey to where i am now and one thing that i have learned confidence helps out, if you can transfer the energy you build up while your hyped after landing a trick to go for a few tricks that seem intimidating you'll be surprised in how you can lessen the intimidation. p.s. that voice over as you went for the sw fs 360 was gold 😂🙌🏻

I'm 25 and dealt with alot of depression as a teenager. I fell off from skating when I got super addicted to synthetic pot around 2010 and didn't get on my board much after I got clean. I DID get into music heavily and learned multiple instruments and now play gigs semi regularly so there's that. However that being said, I'd ride here and there but it wasn't enjoyable. Flash forward and I'm clean 9 years of that shit and something has clicked inside my head and I ride almost everyday now. George, your videos have helped me be more confident in myself as a person and not just a skater. You have helped me realize how much I was in my head as a kid and unable to just ride and have fun. Everything felt like a moment to prove something when it wasn't. Now I go out alone and just ride and do some random shuvs and Grinds here and there. Still getting comfortable enough to approach a park again but you inspire me to be the skater I needed as guidance when I was little. Keep doing what you do bro ✌️ #helmetgang

I believe that so much about improving at skateboarding is all about setting goals and a plan to reach those goals. I also think that the more you learn, the more creative you can be and the more fun opportunities you create for yourself. Nailing a cool grind or flip trick over a cool gap just makes you feel cool and rewards the time put into improving.

What I found very important is to make sure you practice your basic tricks on a regular basis. And that is something that you can best do when you are alone because it is boring and frustrating and skating with friends might distract you from that. I used to pick a certain trick for a day. Like 100 kickflips, next day 100 tre-flips, next day 100 bs crooks... and so on. And dont count the sketchy ones! I think that this is what over time slowly made me get alot better than my friends. Boring repetition... Do something over and over and over again until it haunts you in your dreams and then you have it.

I haven't been skating to long and I stopped for probably about a year before starting up again recently. when I started I spent a lot of time riding back and forth on flat learning to ollie and I got pretty good at it but I still felt like the board and myself weren't really connected and I would make a lot of dumb mistakes and just generally had to battle for every trick which eventually led to me stopping. Fast forward a year and I'm late for work, to save ten minutes I grab my board and skate to work for the first time...all the little obstacles hills etc took some getting used to but after about a month I found myself feeling really confident just moving around and the board began to feet like it was an extension of myself. I started trying to learn tricks again and it turns out that little bit of diligence on the basic riding had a massive impact on the speed at which I learn. the added confidence and control has made everything easier and I even managed to drop in on a mini the other day on my second attempt (something I was so scared of learning) as well as getting real close to heelflips. The main thing people need to understand in order to get better is you have to pay your dues, fall on your ass dust yourself off get up and repeat the process until you succeed. skating isn't so much about what you know but more about what you have taken the time to train your body and muscle memory to do. also, people should take the time to get good at tricks. Personally, I think it's more impressive to have a consistent stylish ollie and no flip tricks than it is to have a crappy rocket ollie and a crappy rocket kickflip. Give each trick the attention it deserves and you won't end up carrying poor technique forward onto the tricks that those tricks lead to.

Guys this comes from someone who practices classical piano. Build yourself a routine. Let's say 10 minutes of old tricks, 10 minutes manuals and balances, 10 minutes rails, and 30 minutes new tricks. Adjust this in function of what you want to do. But if you do this routine with consistency every day, this is how you get good. I learned this from the piano and it works in skateboard or basically anything you like. Also, look up videos about how to do tricks and how to perfect tricks. This is basically the "theory" part of skateboarding.

Well one of the things that I find helps me the most is finding a place where there are few other skaters. For example, if I'm at a busy park, I usually just stick to the things I know how to do and don't commit myself to trying and failing the same trick 100 times... However, if I go early in the morning to a less popular park, then I don't mind just trying my ass off, trying totally new stuff, just lying on the ground for a minute to catch my breath if I take a slam and I'm the only one there.

so i’m kinda in a tough situation right now. i recently badly injured my knee, but it’s almost fully healed. i’ve been very much considering taking up skateboarding, but i’m pretty nervous to injure my knee again. i’ve long boarded before, but i want to start doing this kind of skating. what are some good places to start off before moving onto a skate park? also i’m kind of worried that people will judge me for being a girl and skating :/ do you have any early beginner tips/tricks for me?
@milo_pug52505 жыл бұрын
probably start off with gaining balance on grass or carpet and then start cruising on concrete. Once you're comfortable with cruising you can just cruise around like anywhere tbh. i prefer a university campus since you get to explore and then you can learn tricks by like watching yt videos. I think its cool to be a girl skater since youre breaking gender norms
@minecraftstampyfan225 жыл бұрын
Milo_Pug cool, thanks so much! :) another thing i’m still unsure about is going down hills/going fast and then slowing down/stopping. i’ve watched videos on how to stop but none of them really give a full explanation. and i’m just afraid of hills/going fast in general. do you happen to have any tips for that?
@milo_pug52505 жыл бұрын
@@minecraftstampyfan22 what i do is just bend my knees because it gives me more control and i feel you bc i was afraid of going fast too. I would just work up the speed by working on pushing and going down small hills and then bigger and bigger ones. To stop you can put one shoe against the ground but most of the times i hop off and do a board pick up.
