You heavily under sold parry. It doesn't just stop their attack but finishes your remaining swing making slow 2h really good on survival hunters.

Hunter has most deaths because people think its easy but what they fail to realise is you have a huge agro radius with your pet and you don’t control the path your pet takes so you will get into some sticky situations

This is kind of funny. On my first hunter ever back in vanilla, I didn't really know about pet abilities and therefore didn't know about growl. So this was basically how I played it up until like level 30 before I bored of it. Kind of neat seeing the playstyle actually be a legitimate way of leveling up on hardcore classic now.

I think survivalist gives you good tools for hardcore. It’s not going to be as fast at power leveling as BM, or have as high a dps for dungeons and raids as MM.. but when shit hits the fan, it’s probably safer in a lot of situations, especially solo

Neah, just go BM, stick with a single weapon type and keep it leveled up, also level up defense. You can comfortable do quests 2-3 levels higher and stay away from danger. In HC you WANT to be Donkey.

I tried this and will never EVER play ranged hunter again. It's so much better playing melee hunter since I have my pet taunt while I SHRED the mob from the back. I think intimidate, the only stun a hunter can have, is just too strong. So a hybrid BM-surv is the best. Your tips are very good, you should lvl up your defense and melee skills too, they are really important.

A good hunter goes from passive, defensive, or aggressive as needed to increase pet damage in 5 man. You might also want to consider changing target just before the npc dies to maintain 100% damage up time.

I went with agi/stam and it felt good in combat. Solid damage and ability to face mobs, but I had to drink a lot as mana was going fast. Spirit is nice as well, I tried to add some spirit after those primary stats just to reduce the time in between taking mana breaks.

I run the build and playstyle a little differently, but I agree with about 90% of what you're saying. Survival is the way to go. Mainly, I focus on ranged a bit more than you, and I DO pick up [Taunt], but I also use [Distracting Shot] a lot. The idea is for neither you nor your pet to tank. Again, though, I agree with about 90% of what you're saying. [Aspect of the Monkey] is the way to go. Survival is the way to go, it's literally in the name. I would go further to say that you should spend extra time to only HUNT beasts. [Scare Beast] is as good as Warlock's Fear, if you're fighting beasts. If your quests are looking a little dangerous, just HUNT beasts nonstop for 1 whole level. HUNT. It's literally in the name; HUNTer.

@@nihsumi Basically, Concussive Shot, then start kiting and shooting. Have your pet attack after you start shooting. Continue to Kite and shoot, stopping only for a split second for autos. Use a swing timer for this. If the mob gets near you, manually have your pet taunt. Get a little distance, then use distracting shot to pull it off your pet. Kite and kill.

I personally like taurens, my first ever char was a tauren and I'm a big fan since Warcraft 3. I also used to pvp back in the day and loved the stun plus HP boost. I know that other classes might have slightly better racials for certain situations but I'm not into min maxing that much.

The Orc pet damage bonus is appeals to the HunTARD playstyle, as it could only be placed into the Beast Mastery category. The +5 to axes is pretty good, but overall, I find Orcs to be superficial beyond their value on paper.

Small rant with good info, lmao I don't know what you people mean by hunters having their pets do all the fighting, this must be jealous trolling because it holds zero truth, The best BM does not even do that, in fact at level 40 go fight a level 40 humanoid mob and just send in your pet, I bet my savings account if the pet does end up winning it takes like 5 min and you will have to heal the pet or it will die. In fact, if the hunter does not engage the enemy the pet will die. Even with the best BM hunter the pet at best is doing 20% of total damage to an enemy in a battle. That is on the high side. Even sending your cat with the best DPS, well cat and raptor, send in your level 40 cat on a level 40 cat mob or another animal. your pet will win, even without healing but it will take a long time, and it will only win by a small margin about 15% more health left than the mob. So no, the pet does not do the DPS or fighting for the hunter not even in BM spec. What does the pet do then in BM, it holds aggro that is what it does. it does not do high DPS or total damage it holds aggro so (you) can do high DPS or total damage. So anyone that claims the pet does the fighting is just a f**king m0r0n. Does a tank do all the fighting for a group? because that is what you are saying, What you are saying is why go into a dun with 5 people, the tanks do all the fighting. The tank does 100% the same thing for a group as the pet does for the BM or MM hunter it holds aggro. Survival is not a melee spec, not even close. can you get away with fighting like this guy in the video? yes. not in the end game, and not if the mobs you are taking on are one or more levels higher than you. For instance, at level 44 I was taking on level 49 and even 50 mobs. The only way I can do that is if my pet can hold aggro. I must stay under my pet's aggro meter or I will die. In survival, if you go running in all melee on a mob 5 or higher you are dead without question. Yes, you might get away with it in the perfect setting but on average you are dead. Remember hunters, you melee weapon skill, two-hand ax or sword whatever it is. should always be capped or close to it as you lvl, if not you are not playing the hunter to its fullest capabilities. Don't get me wrong, you do you, there is no right way to play this game, but there is a best practice, and keeping your melee skills caps is best practice. Don't get me wrong, I love the Survival spec. however, it is terrible practice to play it like a worrier, and go all melee, if you must go melee get in get out, and back into range, This is not only good practice for PvE but the skill you gain will help in PVP big time. for example, I melee weave no matter my spec, bm, mm, or sv Melee weaving is good gameplay as a hunter. With all that does. yes, with a good SV build if two hunters got caught up in melee and could not get out, the SV hunter would have the best chance, kind of, a good BM build can melee as well. Sometimes when I want to get my melee weapon skill level caught back up I will melee only, I will Serpent sting one auto shot and melee the rest of the fight. So that skill is not SV only, where I can not do that is if more than one mob is on me, or if the mob is a higher level than me, if I pull aggro I will be dead, dead I tell you dead. LOL.

Hey! In terms of survivability engineering is the best profession for HC. You might be able to make some more gold with LW and maybe craft some gear later on. It depends on your play style really, I personally like to use the bombs in combat and have that target dummy escape plan ready.

It depends on the group in dungeons, if I feel like we have a strong group I might take advantage of the Raptor Strike crits and try to use it on cooldown. If it's not the case it might be safe to just keep distance and mainly dps with the ranged attacks.

entrapment is the most important talent in surv tree and u skipped it. the proc chance is ridicilous and u can take down really hard quests by just kiting em in frost trap. also helps alot in dungs preventing mobs from fleeing cuz the chance of snare for 5 sec is pretty hugh

I agree. 👍 [Improved Feign Death] and [Surefooted] are key. Hit chance is so good. You don't want your [Wing Clip] or [Concussive Shot] to miss when it counts, which is why [Surefooted] is OP, especially with the reduction of movement impairing abilities tacked on as a bonus. [Feign Death] especially, MUST work. If it's resisted, you are screwed, because you only use it when you NEED it to work. [Improved Feign Death] is probably the best talent a Hunter can have for HC, as you alluded to. [Surefooted] comes in 2nd place for similar reasons, and they're both right there next to each other.

Definitely, all hunter hc compilation deaths you see are essentially because of feign death resists occur, so the 2/2 Imp Feign Death is HUGE (if you ain't a "fighting red mobs Andy"

This means you have used your heal pot, Target Dummy, WingClip failed, distracting shot failed and some others I am prob forgetting. Survival is something you should do on a non-HC server.

Thank you for hyping survival but as survival hunter myself, apologise but your advices are weak... . No, you want to train growl, the point of survival is not tanking mobs, but have more escape opportunities. Growl can be as well key saver in multiple mobs pulls. . No, you want to command your pet to attack first, and threat first. Get familiar with CTRL+1 Key . A boar may be better than a cat, as it can root and charge generates the most threat. As survival pulls more agroo from the pet, the boar can keep agroo for long at initial puls. Also an escape tool. . AGAIN, NO, you do not want to melle dps as survival... this just promoting the bad reputation survival hunters have. The point of melle habilities in survival are to allow you to escape faster in situations mobs get at melle range and make use of the time they are in melle range to also keep damage. That is also why you have Wing Clip and Counterattack. To escape and SURVIVE!

Beastmastery - lazy levelling, pet does the heavy lifting. Survival - over complicating gameplay with the need to fully utilize your traps play. But has great tools to avoid death. Marksmanship- maximum hunter damage but requires good threat management and high awareness to your surroundings.

You go BM until 40 then 20 points into survival. You stay this spec until you’re finished with pre bis farming and 60 dungeons. If you want to raid you have to go 40 points into Marksmen. Depending on your hit you can now go 20 points in survival or 20 Points in BM

This is not a meme, it's actually a superior spec. I think some nerd kid with a spread sheet decided in 2006 that there was a threshold for agility, and that myth has been around for 15+ years. IT IS A LIE. I would out dps better geared MM hunters and they would continue to call me noob for playing SV. People are that dumb and stuck on the cookie cutter shit. One of the big disappointments of SV is the Mongoose Bite, but outside of that, it's nothing but amazing. Survival is great for world leveling, PvP and as far as Hardcore goes - nothing is better than SV when it comes to "oh shit" moments.

this is completely unnecessary though if you just find some trash mobs to level your defense every 3 levels or so, alliance has rats in Tram station that can be aggroed with concussion shot and Horde can do the same in wailing caverns dungeon by aggroing the small snakes by the instance, you never have to worry about crushing blows if you do this every 3 levels or so. Having the pet tank and the Hunter stay at range is always the best, playing any other way is just gimping your character.

Tbh bro I like the effort for the guide but I disagree and still think bm is way better. Owl pet is best bc good dps and screech op. U do more dps and kill faster if u don’t take damage and just heal ur pet ez, also having a pet that can tank helps a lot more. Also ranged attacks just do more for hunter than melee due to ranged scaling with agi and that’s what we stack. Agi doesn’t give melee atp, melee doesn’t get 10-15% atk speed from quiver. Sv doesn’t have a stun aside from cow but tbh troll or dwarf would be better for hc due to poison clense and haste to kill mob faster. Also using monkey is good but more atp means faster killing. Killing faster means you have less chance to take damage bc the mob dies before it can even hit you 5 times. Bwrath is also a very strong cd to kill stuff faster, also wyvern sting is good until it’s any kind of elemental or rock immune to nature or poison. Also if the pet takes hits for u you can always leave it for dead while u get a head start to reset the mobs

BM IS superior, but only superficially so. It's the supposed superiority that turns Hunters into HunTARDS, unable to deal with a situation that goes awry, because it's simply not built into the playstyle of the BM Huntard to be able to do so. BM fails at a more intangible level. It makes the player stupid.

In hardcore, you should level up defense and melee weapon skill even if you go BM. Typically you just let the pet do only white damage, no abilities and chain pull green mobs. This needs to be done every level. There was no need to do this in Vanilla or retail but when dying is not an option...

I'm not down with this. This build does not allow you to face tank elites. BM until beastial wrath and then go survival has higher dmg and survivability. Play what u wanna play but this is a niche build for more adapt players wanting a different experience.

Yes, ofc you can't face tank elites, in that case if it's a melee elite, you just kite it with Cheetah. If you suddenly fuck up something, Survival Tree does help a lot with surviving cause of Deflection, Imp Wing Clip, Deterrence, CA and Surefooted talent. You can still start off my having your pet tank the elite (melee/ranged) and do lower DPS to not pull aggro from your pet, if the time comes that your pet will die, you can kite it or yeet. BM is good for preventing stuff to go wrong if you're playing right and you're 100% controlling the situation down to the last detail. But where HC really differs from normal Classic is when THINGS HIT THE FAN, and when that happens, BM doesn't provide you shit besides Intimidation, that's it. Survival does you a lot more when you suddenly get 3-4 mobs on you which your pet can pull off you. That's why I do thing Survival does have it's own merits in Hardcore.

I appreciate your effort here. I’ve gotten 2 hunters to 60 HC. But leveling as survival is just pissing in the wind. I’ve seen high naxx gear make use of the 15% agility talent at the bottom, and pre raid spec half way to grab the surefooted 3% hit. But as for leveling come on now you’re just doing this to be different lol. BM gives you pet the extra damage to where he keeps aggro and ya know you can use your ranged weapon? If you’re in the melee dead zone expect to waste an ungodly amount of time spamming raptor strike . Leveling as survival might be doable but your gonna waste so much more time being a D tier melee at that point. The trap spam is heavy mana usage and waste more time drinking. Mate I've made posts on the r/classicwow & /wowhardcore subreddits asking for Surv-spec advice, pre-facing it with "I'm not trying to be a melee hunter" and "I know this isn't considered optimal and BM/MM is king - I'm just doing this for fun" and all I got from people was: 1.) If survival is your key objective, letting your disposable pet tank is safer than you tanking (can't argue with that one tbf) ...And I'm still gonna go hard in Survival 'cause fuckit, it's a game, I want to do something different, and I'm doing solo self-found anyway so I ain't hurtin' nobody. Just my own mentality if I die!
