JKD is not a style or system. Nobody can simply copy someone elses way of moving. The JKD hobbyist completely miss the point.
@MatthewParksSrАй бұрын
It is an incomplete system. Bruce Lee died before he could set up the teaching methodology. Hnever certified anyone in the system, nor to teach the system. He was a Wing Chun prodigy, that never completed the system from Ip Man.
@TigrethetigerАй бұрын
Literally what the guys are doing in mma is what JKD is suppose to look like
@MatthewParksSrАй бұрын
@@Tigrethetiger I would say it the opposite. Bruce Lee created JKD supplement weaknesses that he identified in Wing Chun. So he took a years and studied multiple martial arts with respective experts. He broke them down and corporated them into a cohesive system. It was the first mixed martial art. MMA came out of the UFC because Grace incorporated rules against strikers that gave grapplers advantages. It worked for the first couple tournaments until strikers figure it out that they don't need to go to the ground. Wrestlers figured out how to counter BJJ. It was evolution. So BJJ fighter started to learn how to stand up and strike strikers learn how to grapple but there was no true cohesive method to do that. Bruce Lee studied those other martial arts for years. The JKD system is complete and tested, but Bruce Lee never certified anyone to teach it. That was what I was saying. It is certainly more complete than MMA, and their is not true standard.

Best way to engage when they approach you head on like that with a square stance is a heel style teep kick (push kick) to the upper thigh as close to the opponents center of gravity as you can (their hips) with as much power as you can reasonably spare. If they don't fall back their femur is going to have a bad time. Jkd is very good. I use it as a tkd boxer self styled practitioner myself. Keep up the good work

At first watching this I thought "okay some real jkd." then I saw the rear "front" kick and the chain punching and found that nope this is not the jkd that Bruce evolved from 1969 onward.
@joelpollardjkd9 ай бұрын
But it worked did it?! Isn't that the point of JKD
@SuperMaryu7679 ай бұрын
@joelpollardjkd JKD is not about using anything that "can" work. Bruce found the chain punching and using uneconomical techniques like using the rear leg to kick ineffective and used the closest weapon to nearest target along with the 3 main principles. Bruce around 1969 started to remove wing chun entirely at this point according to Ted Wong who practiced with Bruce and saw that he started to excel since he wasn’t bound to outdated ideas.
@joelpollardjkd9 ай бұрын
Ok then, tell me what a Straight Blast is and why it was one of his favorite go to moves in an actual fight. The ENTIRE point of JKD the philosophy to adapt to your opponents and to only use tools that are effective and work. When I used the straight blast (you called it a chain punch) it worked, and in that hard sparring session I only used it once, because I saw it would work, and it did. That's JKD, I didn't force it but he gave me the opportunity to use it.
@joelpollardjkd9 ай бұрын
@SuperMaryu767 Since your "clearly" the JKD expert, let's see a video of YOU hard sparring somebody that ACTUALLY trying to hurt you. Let's see if your "JKD" works. Cause we both should that JKD is meant for real fights, so if You can't fight, then you don't even know what JKD is.
@SuperMaryu7679 ай бұрын
@@joelpollardjkd I never thought of myself as an expert but whatever, I’m going by the facts that when Bruce did hard sparring like one would expect on the street, he found the wing chun techniques ineffective and focused more on boxing and fencing. Ted Wong was present during the later development of jkd and saw that when Bruce discarded wing chun he was doing much better. Dan Inosanto was shown the later developed jkd by Bruce and described it as "more like boxing and kickboxing then anything else. kareem abdul jabbar described it more like a boxing style then anything else. You can see in the later vids of Bruce doing more boxing stuff then wing chun since it is not effective and more complicated. Just because something worked once doesn’t mean it’s effective.
@wenapse16392 ай бұрын
Ok, first, you could have ended the fight after the finger jab in the eyes by following with a nice overhang. Second, the opponent was a perfect candidate for a wrestling takedown. In the street that is instant KO

*I agree that the straight lead is more effective than throwing an eye jab which may not hit the eyes properly. The straight lead is likely to do some stunning or even damage and easier to follow up with something else then.*

@joshualeon96269 ай бұрын
Or you could just use teeps and the 1-2s. That always worked with me. Also is JKD really that affective? Because that kneecap kick won’t do much and groin kicks really don’t hurt when the adrenaline rush is going through. I would know from experience. The best spot to hit to stun people is the nose so shouldn’t you jab cross to their nose to avoid any further damage?
@combatsportlover69198 ай бұрын
Tell Jon Jones the kneecap kick won't do much. You know there are calls to have it banned in the UFC right.
🤣 groin kicks don’t work when you’re adrenalised? lol. No man who has taken a clean shot to the balls is doing anything. I speak from experience also. You are incapacitated and out. And kicking to the knee is banned in sport for a reason. It’s very easy to damage the knee.
