I used do it this way too!Before I figured this out, I’d skip the lifeline because it was so time consuming. And then I learned brioche, which taught me the true meaning and value of “A Lifeline” 😂 Now that I knit more complex patterns, I actually use a spare cord as a lifeline so I can just attach the tips and go if necessary. I’m really glad you made a video tutorial showing how to do this when your needles have that little hole. For my needles without the hole, I simply tie the lifeline around the threads and then attach the cord, sandwiching it in the connection. You just have to be mindful that the connection doesn’t come loose while working that row/round.

Oh! The extra cord is a good idea! Yes, sometimes brioche is a bit more difficult to fix or tink!

What if I didn’t insert the life line in advance? I didn’t insert any, and I just noticed a mistake in my knit-in-the-round cowl a few rows back. I want to rip back safely. How?
@BreakingYarn3 жыл бұрын
Uh oh! You can insert the lifeline before you made the mistake with a tapestry needle and some waste yarn by picking up the stitches before you rip! Once you rip, the waste yarn will catch your live stitches for you to pick back up with your needles. Alternatively, you can take out your needles and rip back to your mistake and then pick up the live stitches. This method makes me a little more nervous, but you can do what makes you feel the most comfortable. Depending on what the mistake is and how comfortable you feel with it, you could also rip out just the stitch that has the mistake - drop it down - fix the mistake and then bring the stitch back up with a crochet hook. Good luck!
