Great video, I came across this while looking for help. I have a 523 and I'm trying to disable a speed pot on a stretch wrapper, but I can't change P047. Not locked with A552 either. Thanks!

I know in certain modes these are fixed. Probably need to look at what all parameters are not at their default.

Hii sir, Usefull video , I'm using a powerflex 525, and the drive plc output is connected to the VFD start input, but the drive doesn't run.What is the cause and how do I detect this error?

Check if you are actually getting the start and stop inputs, here is a video on how to view them. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mai5maZto5emjtU

You still need a stop signal, after that check out this video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/i5bOaY1urMmtldU

Awesome video man! Hey so I recently came across the "first pass" s1:15 bit. What's a good application for using this bit in a program?
@TimWilborne4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jack. Let's say you don't want a machine to automatically start back up or you want to clear out some counters each time or maybe there is a special homing or setup sequence that must be done on each power up, you can use the S2:1/15 First Pass bit for that.

Tim Wilborne ahhhh that makes a lot more sense now, thanks man! 👍🏻

How about bi-polar control, say from full forward to full reverse?

Super! It would have taken one day of flipping though the AB manuals to make this happen!!

So I'm about to put a rheostat on my drive ass of now I'm using the round knob on the drive for my speed reference. It's set at 40 Hertz. My question is using the rheostat how you explained it I go from 0 to 10 volts. When I go to 10 volts will it pass my 40 Hertz that I set on the knob cause I dont want to give the operator of the machine more than that.
@TimWilborne4 жыл бұрын
Yes Ben, when you change parameter P047 to 0-10V, it disables the knob on the front of the drive so it will go to 60hz. You would need to set the maximum frequency, P044 on the Powerflex 525, to 40.

Sir can u plz tell me about which parameters should be set for elevator breaking resistor setting etc....in vfd I've short ramp up and down time

Elevators are tricky setups. I don't work with them.

Hi Tim, how would I go about using 2 push buttons to increase/decrease the frequency of the 525 instead of using a potentiometer?

Check out "MOP" in the manual, literature.rockwellautomation.com/idc/groups/literature/documents/um/520-um001_-en-e.pdf

Hey Tim, I need to add pots for speed control on a couple PowerFlex 700. I got the wiring figured out from the manual. Will it automatically know the 10K pot is connected and start reading it like in your demo, or will I need to set some parameters to tell it to use the analog voltage terminals as the speed command? I'm assuming I need to change parameters 90-98. Be happy to throw you some bucks on Patreon if you help me out.
@TimWilborne3 жыл бұрын
Hi Roger. You need to set the speed reference to 0-10V, check out p090 literature.rockwellautomation.com/idc/groups/literature/documents/um/20b-um001_-en-p.pdf

@@TimWilborne Thanks. So P090 should go back to default of 2? Potentiometer will be wired as shown on page 1-20 of installation and wiring. Do I need to check / change any other 91 through 96? I'm scheduled to make these modifications on Friday.

@@rogerheuckeroth7456 Not sure, it would be very application dependent and I haven't worked with a Powerflex 700 in a while.

Hey Tim! :) Two questions for you -- does this work on the 527 also (the one that's supposed to be mostly just ControlLogix driven instead of having all the options on the front panel like 525 and previous generations)? And what model number is your potentionmeter there? it looks like an AB.
@theironknight2 жыл бұрын
found the pot... 800FP-POT6, I presume?
@TimWilborne2 жыл бұрын
I have been wanting to play with a Powerflex 527 but haven't had the opportunity yet. I would guess you would have to read it into Studio 5000 then work with it there. That is an Automation Direct potentiometer.

@@TimWilborne I'll let you know later this week. It has the IO positions, so in theory it SHOULD work. :)

@@theironknight I was thinking after I posted that, I seem to recall that there was a setting to make the 525 parameters work. Is that true?
