How to add DLSS to STARFIELD, and is it worth it??

I just installed the game (was downloading during your stream hehe) and the EULA actually has a section about "Virtual Reality: Health and safety precautions and disclaimers"!?!?! So i guess we can now consider VR confirmed, fingers crossed it happens soon 😁

DLSS looks waaaaaaaaay better wherever you have thin lines further away from camera. Try switching it on and off in the city. DLSS gives stable picture while FSR causes such elements to flicker.

It looks like the reason you did not see any difference in performance and image quality between dlss, fsr and native is you also have to adjust the slider for the "render resolution scale" everytime you activate fsr/dlss. Otherwise it stays at 100% and fsr/dlss will do nothing apart from maybe applying sharpening filters. It is confusing and can easily be missed as this option is way above any other upsacling options (the first slider option when starting from the top)

You probably didn’t notice any differences because you were in that opening cave. Smaller less busy areas like that run perfectly for most people, it’s not until you get out into busier places, especially like New Atlantis that you’ll notice your FPS is going to TANK

This far I have not seen any frame rate drops. Was in new Atlantis last night.

When you have the scale setting cranked to the max, FSR really works as scuffed anti aliasing, bringing your performance down a tad for no real distinguishable visuals. The upscaling and performance benefits only kick in when you lower the resolution scale. It should also work when you have dynamic resolution scaling on, which you do, but I find it either isn't working right, or is too conservative with when it should kick in.

Yeah I’m sure I’ll be using this stuff a lot more for VR. When I’m flat screen with this PC, I just enjoy being able to crank all the settings up to 11. That won’t work with VR though! 😂

Glad someone has done this, still want to know if this will help with the constant pausing when starting to talk with npcs and when i open the inv, noticed that i had to drop my settings from ultra to high because the game kept crashing when you break through the wall in the mines at the beginning of starfield, and i have a 3090.

The mod makes my screen in game black. The game is running but just a black screen with audio. Video works all the way up to when you start the actual save game then goes black screen.

The resolution scaling makes a huge difference: with fsr, stay in your Monitor res and then Set scaling to 65% instesd of 100% + use high/low mix instead of ultra settings. Game Runs very smooth even with my gtx1060 and old quadcore

That’s good to know for folks with lower end cards. With the 4090 I’m getting super smooth gameplay with everything maxed.

Not the best. It's acceptable in most areas but in when I'm in heavily populated areas or combat it's not at all what I would expect from a 4080 + 5800X3D @ 1440p.

@@djburrondarize ok can you hold 60 fps? I pretty much have the same set up but a 7800x3d. I have to finish elden ring anyways before I start it maybe I will wait until it hopefully gets optimized better.

@@jimmytimber7074 the frame rate is always above 60 but overall it fluctuates a lot depending on where you’re and you can feel it. I would love to try the frame generation mod but I don’t want to alter my game just yet. I want to see if the problems get patched. I really like the game so far, my only gripes are lower than expected performance and the ship’s reticle is locked to 30 fps during flight.

My mid range system is a xbox series x. 🤣 The game looks amazing on my monitor with hdr10 enabled.

I`m a massive fan of the Bethesda games, played all of the previous ones at launch. Not this time. I will wait until I can play this in VR. Have Bethesda made any kind of comment about an official VR mode ?

No. I mean anything could happen but that would be a long ways off I would think. Mods are going to be our best bet.

Who cares, i always do a playthrough with cheats, devs build so much grind into games i just need to concentrate on the mechamix, not the angst. Then when i have a clear understanding of the core components, i play through on the hardest settings. Always saves faffing around like i need to change genders.

From my personal experience with the two on other games, DLSS just looks better. Clearer.

similar not the same dlss has a better noise reducer and sharpener setup so it looks nicer.
