I just purchased this 2018 Cascadia 126 dd15 that was a fleet truck. I have the dddl software with nexiq. On the details page it says 3 different hp ratings. I will add pic if I can. But it shows governed at 333 hp. The door sticker says 475. So has it been derated to 333?

I think they all can, and it shouldn't hurt the engine and transmission as long as it's in the parameters of the trucks ECM!

I think you’re referring to engines not trucks. Cummins make a 450 and a 475 ISX15 smart torque 2 engines that the KW dealership says can’t be turned up in horsepower.

I've had 2 MBEs and I knew a few people that had them also, and I suggest not to touch it. They are pretty gutless but very reliable, great on fuel and cheap to maintain if you leave them alone. Id say one of the last engines id try and increase power.

need to know calibration code and then check in insite to see if they have higher hp versions with same critical parts list. This should give you an idea. Anything more than their stock calibrations you are in no mans land that might require some extra mods

I always thought you couldn't do this, but Pittsburgh Power told me that they can safely bump my dd15 up to 620hp. & 2050tq. with software alone. I'm assuming this would be a bad idea right?

No sir. Actually increasing the power respectfully can help fuel mileage. When a company purchases a truck from the dealer they usually come factory with 3 power settings in the ECM and they’re usually set at the weakest power setting for safety reasons BUT it lugs the truck hard with heavy loads which in return will use more fuel. Turning the power up will help the truck climb hills or mountains while the truck maintains momentum instead of it killing itself which in return can use less fuel because you have momentum.

Back in the day you could unplug the speed sensor on the trans but nowadays you’ll need a computer with software to adjust parameters and you need to own the truck if you don’t it’ll prob be locked by the companies password.. If you try to tamper with a company truck the company can see it and if they don’t catch it and you end up speeding and killing someone you’ll go to prison with vehicular manslaughter charges. A company will not have your back when you tamper with their safety settings. Same thing with the onboard safety equipment such as the lane guidance, following too close prevention and dash cams.

Yes I used cummins insite on my peterbilt. It's just a few key strokes. Most company trucks are password protected. But if you own it ,you can remove the password. When I bought my truck, I bought the programming so I don't need to pay a shop to do any of that.

you didnt mention if you checked if the injectors, pistons or turbo was built for more horsepower and you didnt verify if the transmission would handle the higher torque output, and possible drive line issues if it had the small u joints. just because you can program the ecm for more horsepower doesnt mean all the other things will handle it

@@truckingandfixing its not oem software, its the ecm level that can accept it, ddec 5 or so on, you as the tech have to verify that the horsepower rating you are programing matches the hard parts, 515 could put out 1850 torque and you didnt even bother checking the transmission, or the clutch torque, so on and so on, working at a busy dealer i have uprated many engines, and also repaired many cluster bucks from the extra horsepower, it may not fail tomorrow but when it does here they come wanting the repairs bills paid by you.

Horsepower is a calculation based off of torque. If your horsepower is increased, then your torque is also increased.

@@lomologisticsllc405 that is 100% wrong. many different hp calibrations have the same torque, it's when they allow for more fuel at higher rpm that makes more hp. The torque curve in this case would be more flat rather than dropping off rapidly with rpm increase. The maximum original torque remains the same.

​@@veager123 Like I said. HP is based off of torque. Just like the horsepower formula states. If your torque increases or stays flat at any given RPM, your HP will rise. As the torque begins to fall, HP will taper off or begin to fall with it. No matter how much fuel is fed to the engine. You can't just feed the engine fuel at high RPM without giving it more air. The mixture will become too rich. So your statement is 100% false about just adding fuel.
