Good question! No separate gateway is needed beyond your hub (like Homey or SmartThings) if it’s Z-Wave compatible. For these Shelly Z-Wave relays, the hub itself handles communication directly with Z-Wave devices in your network, while it also connects to your Wi-Fi network for broader control. So, in short, the hub acts as the bridge between Z-Wave and Wi-Fi.
